Why is this cool?

As the mobile video game and dedicated portable console game experiences converge, it becomes increasingly likely that game controller attachments like Samsung’s new GamePad are the future of mobile gaming.

Passionate Gamers still prefer to play on consoles and desktops- but customers don’t walk around with controllers in their pockets.

This is a cool idea as Samsung has a strong foundation in mobile handsets and a low involvement with gaming- giving Samsung an opportunity to seize share of gamers who use mobile devices and purchase online.

Best Buy (USA) creates Google Hangout for Last-Minute Xmas Shoppers

Why is this cool?

For people like me who have a shit load of presents to buy and nothing yet purchased, wrapped and ready.

Hosted by several tech geeks with relatively large YouTube followings, this Google Hangout provides last minutes shoppers with ideas and discussions on Best Buy’s range of products. This is cool as it mimics the audiences online/in-store shopping behaviour (search, compare, determine what’s right for me).

As the group chat during the Hangout, a menu bar appears with links to purchase and have delivered (Online/in-store).

Why is this cool?

Anyone who has lived next door to a motorcycle owner knows that "Harley-Davidson" and "sleep in heavenly peace" rarely go together. But this special holiday video for the brand creates a clever exception.

The Juxtaposition works to remind passionate owners why they ride a Harley. Additionally, the entire idea was created, sold and executed in just 72 hours.

The ad takes a now familiar approach for digital marketers, slyly showing the product as promoter of community and social interaction, rather than encouraging introversion.

Technically illegal, however this low cost example shows the power of humour online in order to gain viral depth. Apparently the creative drove a huge increase in web traffic to the realtors websites!
