How long has the mun been roleplaying?
[Answer in tags!]
she’ll giggle once more ( mabel’s almost embarrassed at how ticklish she is ) as a hand runs down her leg once more, leg extending before hands reach behind where she sits & she uses her palms to push herself up. a shrug at the comment, hands running through her hair once before she answers.
❛ i’unno ! maybe it’s just women feeling pressured by the weight of society to have really smooth legs so that they shave it & when people go against society people get freaked ! that’s a really good question, though ! we should ask, like, a leg hair expert or something. ❜
The timestress looked as though her mind had just been blown, lips parted and eyes wide. No matter where she went, it was always something, wasn’t it? Whether it was leg hair, fins, or the number of limbs one possessed, beings all across the multiverse were always going straight to appearances, weren’t they? Not once had she ever come across a place where something like that wasn’t a problem somehow.
--But then again, it wasn’t like she was not guilty either. She supposed that was just the way living things worked, including herself. Even if it seemed kinda stupid.
❝Whoa. That’s deep,❞ she said, leaning her scepter against her side and resting her elbows on her knees to prop up her chin. ❝--Wait, you have leg hair experts? That’s all they do? Just look at leg hair?❞
life wouldn’t be so precious, dear, if there was never an end.

am i doing it right?
probably not.
but i’ll be DAMNED if i’m not trying.
“Renet…how many years of training did you do?”
NOT ENOUGH, apparently. Really, just how does one end up in medieval Europe just like that? It’s already hard enough to hide in New York, but now, if they don’t step up their game, they’ll both be burned at the stake. So much for his first solo mission.
“Okay, let’s think this through calmly. I bet you can get us out of here as fast as you got us in, right? Right? Renet…answer me.”
Don falls into silence, partly because he can’t say anything else, and partly because he’s just too damn panicky at the moment to even try. Okay, so they’re lost in the medieval period, and have no way out. Well, could be worse, really, since Renet could’ve potentially landed them straight into the Ice Age…
How and why did these things always manage to happen to her?! Really, what she had been trying to do should not have landed them in medieval Europe of all places! While her latest test from Simultaneous was anything but simple, it should have had very minimal risk!
She had been tasked with mastering something that she had been struggling with so that she could continue forth to the next level of her apprenticeship. That certain something? Create a closed-off area of one time line and have it function in another. A suitable example ( and what she had been attempting to do ) would be to take a twenty-first century cell phone, enclose it in a bubble that was connected to its own time, then take it back into the past and have it receive calls or access the internet as though it had never left where it came from.
Which had been why she had sought out Don--to borrow something to use from twenty-first century Third Earth and assist her in her attempts to learn.
And yet, when she had finally been able to form a bubble, it had grown too large. Renet had panicked, unable to stop it from enveloping them. And suddenly the two had found themselves dropped in a random time. According to her clocks, it was still Third Earth, so they were at least in the right timeline, but the problem was...?
--Her scepter was no where to be found.
❝--I--I don’t... know,❞ she said, voice uncharacteristically quiet and panicky compared to her usual bubbly or childish nature. ❝I don’t even know, like, what happened. And the scepter... it’s not even here.❞

A spike of anger flared her nostrils, but no other emotion was shown on her face. Ambushed in her bedroom, she reflected internally, of course the assassination would be without honor - extremely so.
She glanced at the scepter in Renet’s hand and noticed how tightly the girl’s fingers were wrapped around it. The tone of her voice had also indicated that she didn’t like thinking about it. Jhanna pressed her lips together and turned back towards the palace once more, more faith in Renet’s words than before.
“Well,” she began as she walked. “I’ll grab one guard, whom of which I trust with my life, and we’ll leave to a different place on the planet. I have needed to visit the people outside of the capital city for a while now, and what’s a better time than the time of an assassination threat?” Jhanna mused with a bit of humor in her voice.
The gates that closed the palace off from everyone in the back opened once they recognized her and Jhanna walked swiftly and confidently towards the palace. However, she continued to check her surroundings carefully, her eyes flicking from left to right and her ears picking up every single sound. If her killers planned to murder her in her own quarters, then they would have no problem to attempt the kill as she entered her palace.
“Have you ever been inside an Omatran palace?” she asked Renet as the doors opened up to a large, marble room. At the far end, was a marble throne guarded by a single guard - the single guard that she wanted to bring with her.
She did not have her Master’s ability to see all the possible outcomes that every choice could bring. She did not know whether leaving the palace would necessarily help them, or lead to the same sad fate. She was not yet the master of time where such futures would be reflected in her eyes in an instant--no, she was but an apprentice. And a somewhat clumsy one at that.
Yet the plan seemed solid, as far as she could tell. Grip on her scepter loosening ever-so-slightly, Renet bobbed her head a few times, affirming that she approved. ( Not that her approval was necessary, of course--she was but a messenger who knew what signs to look for on her attempt to prevent the calamity. )
❝That sounds good to me,❞ she said before her mouth dropped open just a tad as she admired the inside of the palace.
The girl may not have always enjoyed her work as a timestress, but she certainly had to admit that it had its own perks from time to time. Being able to see all the different worlds, experience all the different cultures, and meet all the different people that inhabited the multiverse was incredible. Every time she went to a new place, she often found herself eager to see the sights. ( That is, if she wasn’t whining about something that she found inconvenient. )
❝No... I haven’t,❞ Renet continued, head tilting every which way to take in the throne room. ❝This is, like, the first time I’ve ever visited this planet in any timeline or dimension. I actually don’t know much about this place besides, like, what Lord Simultaneous told me before he ordered me to come here.❞

a giggle at the contact, her leg slightly curling inwards ( she can’t help it !!! she’s ticklish ) as she hugs her middle & tries to keep her balance. a soft hum of approval as the other speaks, head nodding fervently because mabel just really wants to get the point across that she knows how prickly her leg is.
‘ i know, right ?! isn’t it great ?! man, i’unno why so many people feel the need to shave their legs all the time ! this non-shaved, PRICKLY goodness is great ! ’
Her smile only widened at how insanely ticklish the girl seemed to be. It was pretty entertaining, if she was being honest. For good measure, she ran her hand across the prickly leg a few more times before moving back to her own hip as she nodded fervently in agreement.
❝I know, right?❞ she said, rolling her eyes sky high. ❝Like, what’s even with this place and it’s weird hatred of hair? It’s just hair!❞
--ooc;; sorry about the delay in getting to the replies I owe! thanksgiving time has been a little hectic and all that. I’ll be getting to them very soon~
“I love that character,” I say as I come up with upsetting headcanons for them. “Absolutely adore them,” I tell you as I bunny up sad story ideas for them. “They’re my favorite,” I sigh as I pick the most depressing songs for a playlist for them.
“I just want them to be happy,” I insist as I write horribly angsty oneshots centered around their misery.
Awww, it’s when I first fell out of the sky and landed on all of you!

Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper
Jhanna took the weapon out of her belt as she walked. Her hand clenched around the tube so tightly that her knuckles began to turn white, but other than that, she showed no signs of nervousness. She confidently lead Renet back to the palace, her head held high and each step sure-footed. Jhanna never even looked back at the girl to see if she was following, the sounds of Renet’s footsteps were enough.
Meanwhile, inside Jhanna’s head, her thoughts were anything but confident. Her mind swirled with all the worries that related to this assassination attempt warning. Who would try to kill her? When? Where? What kind of things would happen if she was, in fact, killed? Were they of the secret clans that she knew existed on her planet? Or off-worlders? Jhanna twisted her head to one side in attempts to clear her head, but she was unsuccessful.
As she stepped over a small puddle in the path towards the palace, she finally turned back to Renet, “What are the details of the assassination?” she asked to finally relieve the thoughts of worry and doubt in her mind. “I would like to know, so I can save my own life.” Most of what she said was true, but it was also a silent test for Renet. If the girl could relay facts about the event, then Jhanna would feel slightly more inclined to believe her.
The palace was in view now and Jhanna internally sighed as her eyes looked upon the tall, glimmering building. The presence of her new… acquaintance would surely bring up a lot of talk. She didn’t necessarily know if it was a good idea to tell her people the real reason why Renet was here: it would cause a whole lot of chaos and if the warning turned out to be a lie, then Jhanna would look like a blubbering, paranoid fool.
But, she still didn’t want to lie to her people.
--Ah, she had been waiting for that question.
Renet took a deep breath, tearing her eyes away from her clocks and straight ahead to the approaching castle. It was always hard to try to describe events such as this, as time was a complex thing. It was very possible that telling Jhanna the most likely way that she was killed would change it into something else entirely. And unlike Lord Simultaneous, she was not sensitive to such changes.
Still, refusing to tell the queen would not build any semblance of trust. In fact, it’d only do the opposite. Even she knew that.
❝--Okay, um, there are a couple of ways that things could end up going down. Lots of, like, branching paths and possibilities,❞ she explained, clutching her scepter tightly. ❝But the most likely outcome that we saw was that, uh, you would be ambushed tonight in your own bedroom.❞
It hadn’t been pretty, what she had been shown. The scene was bloody and brutal. Unless Jhanna specifically asked, she did not want to describe exactly how the woman next to her died. It made her skin crawl and an almost sickly feeling creep into her stomach. The thought that the event could still take place even with her intervention was practically overwhelming. Even though she did not know her well, Renet did not want to see the queen killed. Nor did she want to see the death of an entire timeline.
❝It’s some clans on your planet that’re supposed to be behind it,❞ she continued, keeping her gaze focused on the castle as she talked. ❝But, like, they’re not alone. They’re working with a group of people that aren’t from here. They’ve struck up some sort of deal to work together to assassinate you. Because I guess it... benefits both of them.❞
