“The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.” You have reached the blog of Dianna Prince, current state representative, giving a voice to the civilians of Star City and anyone who is against the law that has been labeled the "Hero Ban". It is my goal to rid the world of this discrimination against those who can not control the way they were created and only wish to use that birthright to help the cities they live in with the power that they have. There is always a better way to deal with our problems than pushing them down and ignoring them and I promise that I will do whatever it takes to make sure that we can find that better option and give back the people of this world the hope that their cities heroes brought to those struggling. We are better than this. We will find a way. Until then, to those who visit this world from others or have no other place to go - stay safe, hope. W

Diana’s first priority was to find Cassandra. She knew that there was no way to stop the chaos without opening herself to attack. She knew she could take these aliens determined to take the “Others” out, but she could not risk anything until she knew that the little wonder was safe. She spots Clark, he’s safe, people around him that she trusted. He would be okay. He wouldn’t be stupid about this. She needed to find Bruce, Barry, Arthur, Hal and... J’onn. She hoped he was safe. She needed for them to check on their teams, their families and come up with a way to handle this. This day really couldn’t get any worse. 

She spots Cassie and grabs her into a hug. She was safe. That is all that mattered. She grabbed the girl by her shoulders. “I need you to get to Donna, now. Do you understand me? I will call you as soon as possible, but I need to make sure you’re safe.”

Clark welcomed the familiar face – despite the party being open to everyone he hadn’t run into many of his past team mates. Of course he knew why. No one wanted to be celebrating THIS. No one should. He shoved those thoughts to the back of his mind– deciding that maybe a party was what everyone needed and this whole thing was a way to get everyone together again. At least that’s what he hoped for. 

With a smile on his face Clark followed Diana’s gaze behind them in their search for Lois. The irony was in the fact it was HIM who more often than not was trailing behind her, not the other way around. “Oh she should be around here somewhere.” He took a pause to turn to her, his voice softer when he spoke up again. Making sure no one would listen. “Probably trying to get a statement on The Asylum situation.” He watched her face, trying to figure out if she knew what he was referring to. 

Seeing Clark made it worth coming to the party. While they still talked occasionally, her new position and the ban had definitely changed their relationship a bit. She was happy for the man and his family, but she missed him. She knew that Cassie and Clark had a standing coffee date. She needed to learn from the smallest Wonder.

Diana straightened a little when Clark mentioned the Joker situation. “Ahh, yes, I should have guessed that, shouldn’t I?” She nodded. Lois was already doing dangerous things to get the story and she hoped that the child she now had would keep her from doing anything this time. “I have no comment about it,” she teased. “I assume that Bruce has been informed? Should I assume that his whole family knows by now?” She glanced around for the children that Bruce had collected over the floor.

Clark held his glass up at eye level, watching as it glistered against the light, tried to find a name for the color of the liquid inside. ANYTHING. Anything to get his mind to focus on  singular thing and tone out all the voices around him– all the voices against him and the people he cares most about. 

Being FOR the hero ban had caused Clark quite the confusion. He understood the human’s side to all of this. He accepted their fear – and maybe it had been his fault. He was prepared to take the blame for all the destruction all the pain he’d ever caused. Yet even with his empathy he saw the ban for what it was. A way to shut out anyone who’s different; a way of control. The idea made him feel more like an ALIEN to this planet than ever before. 

But he couldn’t shut out their words – and some in particular were enough to get him to turn around. Maybe if Clark went up to them and asked for a quote for ‘The Planet’ they’d act more civil. Just as he turned he caught sight of Diana walking their way. He’d seen that determined look in her eyes– clearly the pair had the same idea.  

“Prince” He called out from behind her, a small smile on his lips. 

Diana knew she should pick her battles, that not everything deserved a response, but she spent all day arguing with these humans and their small-minded ways and she was tired. The equality gap between men and women, the ban, the upcoming bafoon that this country had elected as president - it was exhausting. She missed London, which had all of it’s problems too, but it felt more like home, having spent so many years there.

She hears Clark and turns, grateful for his presence. Someone who understood the insanity of everything around them. “Clark,” She leaned in to kiss his cheek. “How are you doing?” She glanced behind him. “Where is Lois?” She saw his press pass and was glad he was working. He could take her comment and maybe she could get out of here earlier than she had planned.

Diana: I am proud of you for listening. I found a distraction from lecturing.

Diana: Of course. Be careful, Cassandra.

Cassie: When am I not careful?

Cassie: Second thought don't answer that, I'd like to still believe you have some faith in me xP.

Diana: I do have faith in you, but let me rephrase myself: Do not go after the Joker.

Cassie: I worry for any animal that isn't a horse to be left in your care.

Cassie: Just don't get into a fight, remember what you told me when I was just starting off. Don't be foolish by thinking you can fight in every battle, you need to chose where you are needed.

Cassie: And I'm not sure if you are still in contact with him, but can you pass a message along to your Bat Friend for me. Tim isn't answering and he should know The Joker somehow escaped.

Diana: I am proud of you for listening. I found a distraction from lecturing.

Diana: Of course. Be careful, Cassandra.

Diana: You're ridiculous, Cass. Find me within the hour?

Cassie: Yes I am, but you love me all the more for it.

Cassie: Let me guess you'll be around either Mr. Wayne or Clark.

Diana: Of course, I do. Having an actual feline would take far too much of my time.

Diana: It would be rude of me not to say hello to my friends, Cassandra. Also, I must admit probably safer to stay around like-minded thinkers. I've been here for five minutes and have already almost began to lecture. These men boasting and drinking, cheering about this ban. I cannot stand it, but I suppose one can not expect much from people who keep a blind eye to injustice daily mostly because of their own greed.

Cassie: I only complain when I get left alone for too long, i'm much like a cat.

Cassie: That was a joke.

Cassie: That actually sounds nice, it will be a change from well all of this.

Diana: You're ridiculous, Cass. Find me within the hour?

Cassie: Where are you?

Cassie: I'm bored, and Donna isn't here and it's not fair if i'm the only one dealing with this.

Cassie: Don't make me beg.

Diana: Such complaints, Donna has her reasons as do I, you know that.

Diana: But I have just arrived. I'm staying for an hour, you should come join me for the boxed dinners and culinary shows after, yes?

Diana had known of the party for a week and she had refused to go. Why would she, a huge opponent, of the “Hero Ban” attend a party celebrating it’s success? She would not and knew that there was no one in this world that could make her, but her team could be very convincing, persuading her that attending the party was not approving the bill, but showing her civility. Of course, she had argued that one did not need to be civil in the fact of discrimination, but her assistants and those surrounding her knew more of these American politics than she and she compromised. An hour to make sure that if her sisters, Cassie and Donna, made an appearance that they were safe and maybe a conversation with the local press (Clark of course) about how she condoned the bill and was making strides to relieve the world of it before she made her exit with plans of sitting in warm flannel, watching the baking cooking shows that now appeared so easily on the computer given to her. Technology, she swore, was almost as amazing as the magic of the Gods. 

Dressed in a long sleek gown, Diana entered the party, grabbing a glass of champagne by a waiter that passed as she glided into the center, looking for her former Justice League friends or her sisters. Something to make this event bearable in the least. She sipped the drink as she eavesdropped on a conversation between two senators she recognized, gloating about the ban. Diana knew that she should bit her tongue, to remain civil, but she could not. These men knew nothing of the struggle placed on some of the “heroes” they so despised, how many times they had risked their lives for the safety of this country and did not deserve to live in fear because of things they could not control. 

She’s about to vocalize all of this when she hears a commotion behind her. She turns and smiles. “Well, hello.”
