Zulu P and Trans-Pecos Named Queens People of the Week by NY1
http://www.ny1.com/nyc/queens/queens-person-of-the-week/2015/02/13/queens-people-of-the-week--music-venue-and-program-director-set-a-new-tone.html
#tbt to NY1′s coverage of Zulu P and their use of Trans-Pecos!
Zulu P on CNN’s Great Big Story.
Born of an after-school program in Bushwick, Brooklyn, this group of five MCs teamed up with exGang Gang Dance drummer Tim DeWitt and Skeletons' Matt Mehlan to rhyme over some spare beats. Angel-dust strings heave around "End of the World," while the quintet find troubles grinding inside on the skull-rattling "Stressin'." (The percussive skitter of "Rookie of the Year" allows them to relax, but just for an instant). They may overstuff and huff a few bars, but chalk that up to being young with too much to say.
BOMB Magazine calls them "the adolescent queens of hip-hop."
Five years later, we are still amazed at Charlie Ahearn (director of Wild Style)’s video on Nine 11 Thesaurus MCs spitting with brass band Lucky Chops...
