The Magus and the Kirtan

Been practicing the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram before doing tarot contemplations, as a way to get into a clear state of being, as opposed to a state of doing. Contemplating on the Magus, who I consider to be the first thought coming into an empty mind. I recall Aleister Crowley saying the magus is a thought ripping through space and time. The Magus is obviously the messenger god, Mercury. To me he represents intention before preforming an act. To meditate on the energy of the Magus, I watch my every reaction to my surroundings. I watch every thought come into formation. If I sit with no intention, then my mind should be clear, but I do naturally start to think again. If I watch my self think, the thoughts slowly begin to calm down.

Heading to the kirtan I think about what my intention for the evening. After thinking about it long and hard, the goal of every action is to increase ones well-being and avoid suffering. Even when one is angry with something, the source of that anger is usually the desire to feel better. If all desire for ourselves is to be happy and healthy, then we must truly love ourselves. If every action is willed into existence under the guidance of love, then surely our health and well-being must improve to the best of our ability.

Chanting for Jai Maa the mother goddess, I direct my energy towards the earth. Trying to connect to its healing and relaxing energy. Negative emotions start to form and I start getting angry with the weak energy in the room. I am accept my non-acceptance and stay focused on my feelings. Next we begin to praise Lord Shiva. I forget about my anger as my consciousness shoots up into space. I go into a trance as I connect with the consciousness of the universe, and the awareness that we are just objects in the one space. I forget about my self and one point I am not sure if I am chanting with everyone else, or just making random noises on my own accord.

Chanting in Arabic I try to love every object my consciousness connects with. For the final chant, I relax my mind and set no intention. Just listen to myself listening to the music.
