˚˖𓍢ִ໋ there's the teeth phase. blunt canines can only go so far, incisors only so sharp meant to slice, rather than puncture. it's inefficient, and the body doesn't get what it needs that way. they aren't entirely new teeth so much as that they're changing. the aches are uncomfortable, gums raw as the secondary set fills in.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ she's reluctant to feed, at first. grace keeps trying food, to no avail. she's stubborn about it — tries rare meat to raw meat, but it's like trying to suck water out of a cloth. there's only so much it can work. it's not enough. she has to be coaxed into it, and even then, it's mostly the desperation that does it. the awareness that the longer she goes on without properly feeding, the harder it's going to be to control herself. at the root of it all, grace doesn't want to hurt anyone.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ grace is the kind of person to only feed under specific circumstances. a certain amount of time has to pass — she won't do back to back feedings, refusing to wear out whoever is helping her. and she won't do it without some sort of safety precaution in place. be it something that could kill her if necessary, or something that could stun her.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ learning how to eat properly is also a ... process. there's guilt and shame in that, in the mess, until she's taught better. she has to learn the sweeter spots to bite, and how to bite neatly without the brute force her blunt teeth had needed.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ all of this being said, there's no specific person that turns grace. it's all that mutated blood, in the end, that does it. she's been bathed in it basically, injested it, been injected, bitten — this is the effect of that. it's a gradual change over months.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ she's sun sensitive, but not sun vulnerable. not unless she's out in it for long amounts of time without protection. i.e.: sunscreen. big hats will also do the trick.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ feeding provides an intimacy she has sorely lacked for the last 8 years of her life. with no close friends or barely acquaintances, no real family connections, this is the closest grace has come to anything more than that. feeding isn't inherently romantic or sexual, but it is intimate. that's someone's life in her mouth, down her throat, keeping her alive. pulsing on her tongue. it would be jarring for her at first, and a little addicting. she has to work hard not to lean too much into it and take too much.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋ she is prepping her feeding partners juice boxes and snacks always :) likes to have them stay a while, if they intend to leave, just so she can make sure they're alright and she didn't take too much.

“temu wesker” you guys weren’t paying attention and it’s gonna drive me crazy!!! dig in a little!!

i don’t think zeno is a clone at all, but let’s get into it. zeno, in a game full of clones that look identical, is noticeably different from wesker. his manner of dress is different. where wesker was tactical, practical, zeno dresses for flair. expensive tastes. they have similar features, but they are not identical. different hairlines, different noses, etc. where wesker would have just beaten grace into submission, zeno genuinely makes an attempt to persuade her to join him.

capcom’s efforts to differentiate him were clearly intentional. his va talks about being directed to be more gentle with grace. the player is reminded of wesker, but the more you learn about him, the more clear it becomes that this is a different man. and it isn’t in the oh he’s just incompetent and couldn’t do it like wesker could do it way. the game makes a point to show you how easily zeno brutally murders an entire squad of BSAA agents. his powers aren’t the issue. his ambition was the issue, and his ambition stems from some effort to imitate wesker. but the whole idea is that he is surrounded by clones that were all failures. these clones mutate, become violent, but to start, they all look the same. what is really interesting about this is that the game makes it super obvious with every other clone, even going so far as to dress them all exactly the same. they don’t give zeno the same treatment.

all i’m saying is they gave wesker a secret son once. they can do it again. there are layers to this critter and i will die on this hill. the only disappointing thing about zeno is that capcom killed him and we don’t get to learn more about him.

zeno re9 is one of the most interesting characters produced by capcom entirely through subtext and mannerisms and i have been a little crazy since i first saw him

so the most basic premise is that he’s supposed to remind the audience of wesker at first appearance. the player would be like oh, fuck. that’s going to be rough, isn’t it? and in some ways it is. leon sees footage of him absolutely slaughtering trained agents with only redemption. a perfect shot, mind you. too fast, too much to deal with.

but then you get to meet him, and he defies expectations immediately. he is gentle with grace. he’s trying to convince her to join him, because he genuinely wants her to. his va said this in a recent interview, but i think it’s also pretty clear to the audience without need for him to say it. if he was wesker, he’d have made grace obey by force. she would’ve only been a tool. instead, he shows her the experiments. the raccoon city coverup. tells her: this is what the world has come to. join me in adapting.

and then later, when he is rendered powerless, called an imitation, you can see it visibly stings. he is an overtly feeling man. this leaves those paying attention asking what about that makes him hurt. is he a clone? is he something else entirely? what is his connection to wesker? why has he spent all this time emulating him?

all of this to say i am so devastated he is dead in the canon ending. capcom give us more zeno

i haven’t seen this occur but i am sure it’s happened. i do think that this notion of extremity is strange. the post i was referencing was saying the father/daughter headcanon was being shoved down their throat so they’d be writing fic in retaliation, while discussing sex explicitly. like oh wow, you really thought you did your big one there, we are sooooo scared. i just think it’s very odd to behave as though you have to “get back” at the other part of the fandom that is by and large just making content they enjoy and existing without awareness of the romantic pairing.

i didn’t know people shipped them until about a week ago, because i stumbled upon that post. but i’m also not on twt at all because it is full of strange people anyway. and i’m certainly not making my content to spite the shippers. i’ve already muted the tag so i don’t engage with it any further, and it’s as simple as that. i find the same people that talk about “puritans” love “don’t like, don’t read” until it applies to them lmfao. they want people to grow a “thick skin” but i really need them to look within first. the moment someone dislikes a ship they start screaming censorship and virtue signaling and the words have become meaningless.

— Leon would be very, very hesitant to settle down. It's not because he's a womanizer. Far from it. It's largely because there are very few permanent things in his life - one of them being mortal danger. If he really cared about someone, he wouldn't want to involve them.

— Leon would be terribly awkward sometimes. One-liners that don't quite land, nonsensical jokes, long pauses — he unfortunately is guilty of all of that and more. It's not because he doesn't like them. He gets nervous, no matter how many years they've been together. He has a hard time believing he really gets to have this.

— He would be very tactile. Leon’s always finding ways to hold on. A hand at the small of their back, guiding them in public, an arm slung around their shoulders on the couch. Anything small he can do to be nearer, he's usually doing it.

— He'd be just a little overprotective. Moreso if his partner is a civilian. Leon’s been fighting danger for so many years, it's instinct to guard. He does it unconsciously sometimes, but most often, it's entirely intentional. He stays on alert, like he can stop any possible threat before it gets to them.

— Leon wouldn't be very good with expressing his affection in words. He probably has a hard time saying “I love you” for the first time. Instead, he tries to show up. To be there, to do things for them. He holds them, he helps them, he comforts them. Words aren't his strong suit, but action is.

— When Leon finds out he's sick, he would be afraid to touch his partner, gloves always on, kisses close-lipped and pressed to their hair. He can't poison one of the few good things he has. When he comes home cured, he spends hours making up for lost time.

— It'd be hard to tell sometimes, but his very big heart leads to very big love. He'd end up smitten before he knows it, feeling like a teenager all over again. Part of him wouldn't know what to do with all that affection. Leon would try to show them. Once or twice, he tells them in the quiet that he doesn't have room for so much love. He'd say something cheesy. Maybe tell them he's closed for business for the night when they smile at him.

— When Leon finally settles down with a partner, it helps him in more ways than one. He's less lonely, to start. They're the reason he starts projects he'll actually finish. He's got new motivation. Someone to remind him why it's good that he gets to come home, why it's good that he's still here at all.

my hot take of the day is that it is not infantilizing grace to hc leon as a father figure to her. that is a 49 year old man and a 20-something year old girl. that man can EASILY be her father. i feel like people are forgetting leon was entirely ready to take in a 12 year old girl at the ripe age of 21. he was split up from sherry because he knew too much. have your ship but i will stay here and happily proclaim there is literally nothing weird at all about enjoying this dynamic between them.

— Leon would be scared of being a father. He didn't have a good relationship with his dad. Difficult to do when the man wasn’t around, and then dead. Part of him would be afraid of repeating that cycle because of his work.

— He wouldn't go out of his way to become a dad. It was a vague dream of Leon’s, back when he was a rookie cop whose conception of good and bad was very different—whose outlook on life altogether was different. That dream isn't exactly realistic anymore.

— If Leon did find out he was going to become a father, his priorities would shift dramatically. He's always had a hard time being particularly passionate about his work. He cares about saving lives, but the endless loop of people dying all around him isn't a comforting one. Work is less of a priority and more of a means of providing. He sees it somehow even more as a thing to just survive, but now for what he can do with what he earns.

— Leon would go out of his way every day to ensure his child's safety. He'd have a nearly excessive amount of cameras around the house, airtight security measures, and the like. He'd be tight-lipped about his child even existing, not wanting the world to know about them so they aren't in danger because of him.

— He would be very overprotective. Looking at schools? Leon’s vetting every teacher. Going on a field trip? He's coming too. Asking to stay the night somewhere else? He insists sleepovers stay at home. Going on a first date? He knows everything about the kid within a day.

— Nothing on earth would soften Leon like having a kid. They'd mean the world to him. If anything upsets them, he's there asking what's wrong. He's always trying to reassure them. It would kill him if his baby ever felt alone like he has.

— Leon tries to be home as much as he can. He's always afraid of messing up or falling short as a father. Part of his method for avoiding that is just showing up. He's there for awards nights, there for practices, there for games. Anything his kid gets into, he tries to be their cheerleader. He's not home as much as he'd like to be, but when he is, he makes the most of it.

— He'd constantly be trying to make his kid smile or laugh. Leon’s cheesy jokes get even worse. He uses silly voices when he reads to them. He chases them around the house playing hide and seek. He'd play pretend with them as much as they asked to, whether it be with dolls on the carpet or making “potions” in the backyard.

— Leon carries a lot of guilt in general. Any failures as a father would feel twice as heavy. He'd spend too much time thinking of the moments he's missing at home while he's at work.

— He'd be the type of dad to prepare as much as possible before the baby came. The crib is built months in advance. They're stocked on everything - diapers, onesies, formula. Leon would read books about it, spend hours running through scenarios in his head. He'd feel that he can't afford to mess this up.

— Leon wouldn't just be prioritizing the baby, but also his partner. Every need they have, he'd try to meet. And if he can't be there to get what they need, he makes damn sure they get it one way or another.

— When he's getting a little too old for the job, he'd fill his time with being present for his kid. Leon would be plenty happy going to games or spending time at home soaking up being with his family. He'd treasure movie nights, family dinners—every moment would feel a little too good to be true. Having something good, something that makes him happy. A place to go that feels like home.

— The first time Leon’s kid would get hurt, he'd feel panic he's never felt before. It wouldn't even need to be serious, just a scrape from falling off of their bike. But it'd be unlike anything he's known before, a worry that runs bone-deep. He'd hug them extra tight tucking them into bed that night. He'd check in on them hours later when he can't sleep.

— Leon would absolutely do the thing that every dad does, standing in front of the TV watching a show he waved off. He'd pretend he doesn't get invested.

— Leon would be beyond proud to be a father. He'd live for the moments he gets to do something for them. Catching the spider his kid screamed over and putting it outside would absolutely make his day. Handling the scary stuff comes easy to him. He'd assure his baby plenty times that the monster under the bed has to go through dad first.
