Aviva Competition - Chance to Win $50,000!!
We have entered the Aviva Community Fund competition! We have a chance to win $50,000!!
http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf13908
We have three initiatives: (1) Removing/rehoming unwanted pets: To date for 2012, approximately 170 animals have been rescued from the communities we work in - all are spayed/neutered and receive full vet care. All animals are fostered until adopted. We are a no-kill rescue. (2) Responsible pet ownership education: We are actively involved in educating the general public about responsible pet ownership including the importance of spaying/neutering. We also provide handouts covering food selection, shelter requirements, the effects of chaining and animal abuse, dog aggression and behavior, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and many other topics. (3) Spay/neuter initiatives: All animals adopted through Rescue for Life are spayed/neutered. We also provide discounted spay/neuter procedures to families in the communities we work in. In addition, we have completed spay/neuter clinics and are currently planning mini clinics with our veterinary partners. If we can raise the funds our goal is to purchase a spay/neuter van that can provide on-site veterinary care in these rural communities. Please vote for us, and share the link with your friends! You can vote once a day, every day!

Late Updates
Terribly sorry, I've been slacking off in the updating department lately. Now things are back on track, so here's the news! We have a great event tomorrow at Tail Blazers in Sherwood Park! We will be having a Clip-A-Thon and adoption event from 10-6.
Adoptions: Django, Franklyn, Tangey, Lance and Lola (two of the L Puppies) all went to their forever homes! We have a few more dogs that are well on their way to being adopted and will be going home soon so watch for updates. Unfortunately we had Maisie and Mugsie come back to the rescue. They are both back up for adoption. Sammy and Zip are new dogs that have settled into foster homes and are looking for their forever homes. We're always in need of foster homes and volunteers, so if you'd like to help out please head on over to our website and apply today!
Upcoming Events
We have a ton of events coming up, here's what's going on in May!
Tail Blazers in Sherwood Park is having us back for another Clip-A-Thon event May 19.
We're having another Adoption Event with BBQ and fun for the whole family May 27 See our Facebook page for more details on both of these events!
More puppies!
Dixie finally had her puppies! Wednesday, she gave birth to NINE puppies. She had 7 girls and 2 boys!
She's been a good momma so far, and the pups are absolutely adorable. Good job Dixie!
Another Week Gone By..
We had some more adoptions this week! April finally found her forever home with a great family who has adopted from us previously. Rupert also got adopted and we had a foster fail with Jenny.. her foster family decided they just couldn't part with her.
We had a few more intakes this week as well. You can see these cuties on our facebook page.
Poor Dixie still hasn't had her babies! Hopefully they come soon.
This week saw us gain some new foster homes and some very generous donations. A big thank you to all of you!
Paws in the Park!
What A Week!
We've had a busy week here at the rescue.
Last weekend was our adoption event at Pet Valu in Fort Saskatchewan. We had a great turnout despite the weather! Thanks to all who showed up and all of our volunteers who helped out. A giant thanks to the staff at Pet Valu for having us! This week we brought in 14 dogs, 12 of which are puppies! Unfortunately, one of the puppies did not survive. We're grateful that one of our loving foster homes took her in and she got to spend her last hours knowing love and warmth. We also had some adoptions this week. Remy, Xander, and Ava all officially have forever homes! We're so happy for them and their new families. Don't forget that today from 10am-6pm we will be out at Tail Blazers in Sherwood Park for their second annual Clip-A-Thon! Come out and get your cat or dog's nails trimmed and see some of our adorable adoptables!
We have some more upcoming events in the works and will be sharing the details soon.
Spring is here and it's officially puppy season. Already this week we've had twelve puppies come into the rescue. With these puppies, the puppies from Genie's litter, and Dixie ready to give birth any day now, we are going to need more foster homes. We constantly have older dogs coming in needing homes as well. Fostering with us is easy! Vet bills are covered and we supply food, collars, leashes, kennels, help with training.. everything you need! All you have to do is show love and share your home. You'll be rewarded with wagging tails and wet kisses. Please consider fostering today! Email [email protected] for more info.
Our next event is coming up this Saturday! Tail Blazers in Sherwood Park is holding a Clip-A-Thon with all proceeds going to the rescue. Come on out and get your cat's or dog's nails trimmed for a minimum of $5 donation. You'll also be able to meet some of our dogs that are up for adoption!
Ava has been found!!
A big thank you to all the R4L volunteers who spent hours upon hours searching for her and postering neighbourhoods. Another big thank you to the public who spent hours upon hours of THEIR lives searching for her and for sharing the posts.
