With the rise in panels of Tim going all unhinged 'I could kill someone' here's this
you can disagree but you'd be wrong
if you saw last night no you didn’t (so sorry)

"We're ready to order, thank you..."
tim, immediately recognizing dick based on one piece of information and an intuitive leap
batman #441
cassandra, recognizing bruce wayne based on recognition and an intuitive leap
batgirl #24
#parallels to me.
personally i support anything stephanie brown does. “oh but she did *whatever heinous crime*” girl i don’t CARE. she’s allowed to do it. she deserves it. i support women’s rights and wrongs.
my baby
Teenage Tim: I want that one!
Adult figure: ..isn’t that the one that tried killing you-
Tim: :) I want them.
and then, alternatively
Non-lawful figure: :) that one.
Normal adult figure: isn’t he strictly against anything the bats don’t approve of-
Non-lawful: him.

i can not get enough of how bruce so desperately wants the rest of them to live normal lives! he hates that they follow his steps but cant refuse because that would be the last thing thatll ever stop them!! he internalises every mistake and injury they encounter because it weighs him down as much as his parents’ death does!!! more family members that hes helpless towards because there would be nothing he could do either way, at least as their mentor he can control it just the tiniest bit more!

they’re not close but it’s not like they don’t get along, think post crisis tim and selina.
the thing is that both of their moral compasses are essential to their own characters; both being driven by compassion and devotion.
they definitely wouldn’t hate each other or probably anything close to that. whats important to note is that jason doesn’t hate those who aren’t willing to kill, and that cass is against senseless deaths. Jason’s whole thing is that there are those not willing to change or even see the fault in their ways, so it would be better to just get rid of them than risk them getting out and reestablishing their past MOs. While Cass was never given the choice when she was younger to do anything else but, her entire journey was existing outside of that image of having to kill others and being the one to take away their future choices herself.
One is about taking the options away from those who have refuse to change them, and the other lives to save all and give them a chance at it. They may be at odds but they could still reside among eachother.
in the end, they’re still both in the same family. both similar enough to understand but keep their own distances to stay true to themselves.
Sometimes I feel frustrated seeing fans boil down Cassandra to JUST her "no one dies" mentality. Yes, Cass embodies it in a way that's even more obsessive than Bruce, but I feel like what most people leave out of posts (especially ones where they talk about how much she would hate Jason) is her compassion. Cass sees herself as every murderer she comes across. Almost her entire life, she spends trying to atone for one murder she committed as an 8 year old and to do that she stops murders from happening, but she also has a deep rooted belief that the people who commit these crimes are capable of changing who they are. Or, in the very least, understand why what they do/done is 'wrong'.
I read posts about how she would hate Jason and while I agree in some ways, I feel like there's something missing. What's missing is that why wouldn't Cass understand how Jason came to be the way he is? Someone who felt abandoned by their father's choice in allowing a murderer to run free—one who certainly isn't changing anytime soon. What's stopping Cass from knowing Jason's feelings in a way most other characters can't see because they haven't experienced it in a way that both Cass and Jason have?
Obviously this doesn't mean she is giving up on her moral code, I don't get why fandom thinks character foils can't interact together without losing some integral part of themself—the beauty of fiction is being able to create scenarios where that is possible. If you truly believe its impossible, I honestly think you might just have a really closed mindset or negate character growth as bad characterization.
Maybe its because no depiction of Cass is beaten by Batgirl 2000 and maybe because Jason's characterization is a spinning pendulum of nonsense half the time, but reducing either character to just their morality on killing alone is tasteless. People (and fictional characters by extension) are so much more complex than that.
Like a Father... Like a daughter....
tim drake is such a writing anomaly bc hes a late 90s teenager hes straight laced theres definitely something wrong with him he gets straight As lies about getting straight As he sleeps during school hes a dork he doesnt get bullied hes semi popular he isnt into sports he fails on purpose he has adhd he fills other people’s papers when bored his attendance is a sixty he acts poor he hasnt done a single grocery shopping in his life he learnt the entirety of skateboarding in 48 ish hours hes dropped out and enrolled again at least twice the teachers and students either dont believe he exists or is mortified and that is just not even getting into any vigilante justice stuff
