Triptych of Jan Floreins (detail)
Germany/Flanders (1479)
Oil on oak panel, 46,3 x 57,4 cm (central panel), 48 x 25 cm (each wing)
Groeninge Museum at Saint John’s Hospital, Bruges
[source], [source], [entire work]
One of the cool things about this particular painting is that it was painted for Saint John’s hospital, and is still there. Jan Floreins is the patron who ordered this painting made, and he as well as several other figures in this work are represented in it.

psychic vampires
No, not like Dracula or Nosferatu.
There are, as I understand, psychic vampires, a person or a spirit, that are both conscious and malicious, that feed through the astral plane and one should always take precautions when astral traveling.
There are also psychic vampires who are conscious but not malicious. Meaning, they skim off the energies around them (typically nature energies) to refill their own, but never from the same physical source over and over, and never enough to negatively effect the victim.
And lastly, there are psychic vamps that are for the most part living people who feed off others emotionally. They are usually individuals who suffer from a crippling lack of self-esteem and need constant validation from the people in their lives. This is the type I’m most familiar with, and therefore what this post will be about.
But why?
People who are psychic vampires are usually unaware of what they are doing, as this happens on a subconscious level. They are emotionally flawed individuals with low vibrations who have become dependent on sustaining themselves by depleting their victim’s aura.
These are individuals who typically experience:
-feelings of abandonment/ rejection
-a need for constant reassurance
-and people who suffer from mental illnesses such as anxiety or depression
Note: Having a mental illness does not automatically make you a psychic vampire, nor does being a psychic vampire automatically mean you are suffering from mental illness
What does it do to me?
If you are sharing a space with a psychic vampire for a long time, this can be damaging to your own psychic abilities. Since their vibrations are so much lower than normal, it can cause you to lower your own vibrations so you can exist in the same space.
Lowering your vibrations can cause you to experience:
-diminished aura
-fatigue
-illness (mental or physical)
-difficulty with spirit and astral work
-sleep disturbances
But an actual psychic attack can cause all these symptoms and more, particularly hyper-realistic nightmares
Sensitive people seem to be most at risk, particularly if they don’t know how to protect themselves, but a psychic vamp is never satisfied regardless, and they’ll continue feeding off their victims.
Well…what do I do?
Banish. Cleanse. Protect.
I realize this can be difficult for the person under psychic attack, as those are largely draining, leaving a person with little energy to perform the following tasks, but magic isn’t always all-or-nothing. If something doesn’t work, try it again as layering multiple low strength spells can be just as effective as a single energy packed one. So:
-put up wards
-use your energy shield
-room cleanse regularly
-make an amulet to protect your from negative energies and/or psychic attacks (amethyst, hematite and sodalite are good for this, either to charge an amulet or to put under your pillow)
-make a talisman to give you a power boost
-distance yourself from constant direct contact if you know who it is
-banish the psychic vamp
-attempt to heal them emotionally (essentially fix them from being a PV)
-surround yourself with power objects or things that make you happy
-store excess energy in an object of power (really anything you want) whenever you have any to use as a battery for when you’re low
-skim energy from nature to replenish yourself but only skim
