‘Why them’ certainly was a good question. Now that another nation was here, to say nothing of the fact that it was someone as close to him as Iceland, he really had to consider what the point of this was. 

“Mm, no one else. And it might just be easier to get one at a time, y’know. Not sure how they’re pullin’ it off, but... Haven’t had much time to try an’ look into things, I just got here a week ago.”

He really should’ve seen something like this coming, but the sudden onslaught of affection still throws him off. He’s quickly turning an even brighter shade of red and he can’t quite find it in himself to try and push her away.

“U-uh. Thanks,” he manages, squeezing his eyes shut. “What a weird holiday.”

Kissing day, huh? The whole thing was a bit too personal for Berwald’s tastes... Still, though, it couldn’t hurt to try opening up a little, and he was pretty sure it wouldn’t be any trouble for Arashi. He gently takes her hand and presses a kiss to the back of it, bowing his head slightly.

“...Sorry. Hope that wasn’t too embarassin’.” He’s going red.

He hadn’t been expecting to see a familiar face.

The face in question had looked so familiar that Íseldur almost thought this place was playing a cruel joke on his poor psyche. He had to stop and do a double take, make sure that yeah, this was the real deal. The real Sweden, and not just him being so painfully homesick and increasingly more desperate to see his family. Still, it was that same homesickness that pushed him to actually run towards Berwald, almost colliding right into him in his shock and excitement.

“ Sví! They.. got to you too? “ The excitement that came from seeing someone so familiar, and somebody he trusted so much, seemed to die down a little bit as the realization that Berwald was family hit him. “ Wh.. Is.. anyone else here? “ Were they okay? What was going on?

Berwald tenses upon seeing someone rushing towards him; he has a hand on the hilt of his wooden sword until the stranger gets close enough for him to see that no, this is not a stranger he needs to be defending himself from. In fact, he almost doesn’t want to let himself believe that it’s Iceland because a family member here was simultaneously too good to be true and more worrying than anything else he’d run into thus far. Had they gotten the others too...? It was deeply concerning, but at the moment he just wants to be a little selfish and indulge in the relief of having someone here that he trusts and cares for.

“Mm. Haven’t seen anyone else here... You alright? Not hurt?” He places a hand on Ice’s shoulder as he gives him a brief once over for injuries. Nothing seemed wrong, thankfully.

Well, he can’t very well start explaining to a stranger what kind of effect fighting in wars for centuries has on one’s psyche; aside from genuinely not believing a wooden sword to be anything dangerous, he just can’t bring himself to find this city and it’s inhabitants any more a threat than they are just a (rather bewildering) nuisance. He doesn’t want to scare her off... Although, he notes with a slight flush blooming on his face, he kind of doubts that he’s scared her what with how affectionate she seems comfortable being. He reflexively reaches out and takes her shoulders to steady her when she falls back onto him, but he makes no moves to try and get her off of him.

“Princess wand... Doesn’t seem very useful. Come with me,” he states. It takes him a second to realize that first of all, he has no concrete course of action aside from finding his apartment, and second of all, it sounds remarkably creepy to insist that Arashi blindly trust him to keep her safe. Fantastic. If she wasn’t scared before, she would be now. “Only if you want,” he adds after a moment, starting to feel a bit anxious. “S’probably better not to walk around alone, is all.”

It’d been nice to have someone with him as he got himself acquainted with the city. Arashi was good company; friendly, confident, and as Berwald was quickly discovering, rather touchy-feely. They’d been walking down a fairly busy street when a storefront had caught her attention, and she grabbed his hand in order to pull him along towards it. And he hadn’t minded, but… She kept holding it, even after she’d pointed out what drew her interest.

He didn’t know what to do. It felt like it’d be rude to just pull his hand away… He didn’t want to upset her. And admittedly it made him feel a bit better knowing he was less likely to lose track of his companion now, so maybe this was alright? She didn’t seem to mind pulling him along with her. So long as she didn’t pay too much attention to the light flush on his face betraying his nervousness, it’d be fine.
