The new arrivals: Commodore Amiga 500 and an Atari 520 STe. Both in need of serious TLC.
Hello World
This weekend I picked up an Commodore Amiga 500 computer for a fun project. Coincidentally, when I bought the Amiga I also received a free Atari 520 STe, although I'm not sure if this is in working condition.
The aim of my project is to have a bit of fun with these classic computers. I am torn between the prospect of restoring them to original working condition and appearance, or modding them and making something a little bit more interesting.
Of course, I also intend to play some awesome retro games! By day I am an iPhone game developer, so I'm really interested in video games and I also programming. I couldn't miss up on the opportunity to learn some more about low-level hardware and associated programming techniques as I go along.
To begin with I'll just focus on the Amiga 500. There's a wealth of Amiga information on the internet and part of the fun is researching this and learning as you go along. The Atari was an unexpected surprise, and since I've no idea if its working, this will be more of a side-project.
On this blog I'll share photos, information and guides about the things I learn as the project progresses. Hopefully I'll bump into some other people with similar interests on my journey!
