Ok so in this AU, Heaven and Hell has this system where a human gets assigned both an Angel & Devil to guide them through life.
A&D's can come in all shapes and forms like, on the shoulder trope where only they (the humans) can see, or be a form of prophetic dreams and sleep paralysis state, or become friends with their human and be the constant Good & Bad friend in their lives ect ect.
In this situation, They are disguised as human parents who are basically going to raise the kid they got assigned to. And they are to live on earth till they finish their jobs. A bit of an unusual situation but nonetheless it is what is assigned to them so they gotta (CAUSE I SAID SO!)
Leon is a Cherubim, is like one level away from a Seraphim. So he's pretty up there, powerful guy, Good at his job too. So it's kind of a surprise he's assigned this basic ass task right. (No it's not bro manipulated the system )
Now, Grace is a demon in this, just a simple, normal imp. A relatively young adult in immortal standards. This is her first assignment to actually interact with HUMANS that is above hell management. And she's assigned to raise one basically. With an angel. Who's much more experienced than her. (She's also confused on why he got lumped with her, she didn't think she would ever see him again).
Anyways here's the twist:
Angels and Demons aren't made.
They are born into the position they are assigned to.
And the thing about this whole system shit? It's kind of corrupted.
So even if a demon does something nice they ain't sprouting wings anytime soon and Angels can swear and lie if they want to, in the essence of "good" or whatever perception of excuses they got.
The whole good and bad thing? It's a blur between the lines within realms. BUT THEY STILL GOT THE JOBS TO MAINTAIN THE BALANCE IN THE HUMAN REALM OR WHATEVER.
So this system exists.
And Leon for SURE knows this. (Man's is old Lmao) He already realized millennias ago that the system is FUCKED and that everything is in shades of grey and he's pretty sure he's only privileged to be there at Heavens Gates because he was born there, when in reality there are monsters down in the pits if hell who are BETTER SOULS than he is.
Better Souls like Grace.
Who was born with tiny red horns, small bat wings that don't even fly (but endearing to look at) and a tail with a cute heart shaped end to it.
She saved his life when a heaven's soldier like himself was fighting and got injured by a BOW (a disgrace to the heavens, and Angels [from his caliber] are assigned to also fight these abominations that humanity has made to not upset the balance or whatever,
But in reality it's because those things can actually harm them, and if they can cause harm then those things can eventually kill them. And isn't that a scary thought for an untouchable being? So they have to intervene and eradicate them without the humans knowing, it's a vicious endless tiring cycle, Leon knows this. He definitely knows.)
Those things aren't even Hell's problems no matter how much the Heavens wanna point a justified finger at them to blame (cause it's humans who made those). So imagine his surprise when this cute, insignificant (no, not insignificant, she's more than that now-) little she-devil popped up from somewhere and dragged his injured body away from the fight and treated his BOW-inflicted wounds (they can't fast heal for some reason if a BOW injures an angel, they heal at a human rate).
He remembers the fight, the seemingly endless blows back and forth, the pain on his person where it got pierced by the monster,
And Her.
She wasn't supposed to be there, and quite frankly he doesn't want to know why she's even there.
But he's never been more thankful on what otherworldly being is up there to grant him the privilege of meeting her.
Grace Ashcroft.
The irony doesn't escape him. Such a contrasting name for the species she was born into.
But she is. She's Grace.
His Grace.
His Saving Grace.
Because she saved him when she didn't have to. Granting an ungrateful thing like him a second chance. He did not expect his salvation to have horns. He did not expect it to have shaking hands trying to wrap his injuries.
The Angel soldier had spent centuries searching for divinity in grand places in his more younger, naive years. Cathedrals of light. Golden thrones. Victorious armies. The architecture of eternity.
Yet somehow he found it here:
In a Demon carefully mending an Angel's wing.
What was he supposed to do when salvation looked back at him through jade colored eyes and a crooked nervous smile?
For the first time in centuries, Leon thinks he understood prayer.
And felt something inside himself kneel.

Uh, yeah, and Demons and Angels know of each other's high rankers when they reached at a certain age so,
what I'm trying to get is our girl Grace DOESN'T know who Leon was until the task was given, doesn't remember the time she saved his ass. But knows OF him and has this long time crush on him cause I think it's funny. And. Yeah.
Leon basically found out that his Grace is going to be given this task with another Angel (Let's say Zeno cause I think that's hilarious) and yoinks the paperwork and said DIBS and nobody can say nothing cause what the hell can you do when one of the best of the best in heaven pulls this shit? Plus it's not like it's. Illegal or anything. Right. (He puts Zeno to partner with a demon called Victor instead, who's rumored to be an asshole cause he's a jealous little shit like that)
Also our girl Emily can see supernatural (i.e. her parent's Otherworldly traits) cause she got a third eye on her but DOESN'T fucking say anything cause she thinks it's funny as hell. Also she's got parents now, it's a fucking W for her. (Spy x Family type of theme ahh)
Oh and bonus plot twist:
AN ANGEL CORRUPTING A DEMON? Oh how scandalous and juicy. This will be fun.
they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"
