samantha had been struggling lately with feel feelings, truth was there was a rollercoaster of emotions inside her, this was affecting her relationship with her family. stepping outside her home she encountered her father. “good morning to you too, father.” she said with a quick grin which vanished seconds after. the baker girl didn’t share the closest relationship with him as of lately, but she attempted her best to remain civil at all times.
he frowned a bit at his daughter’s greating. father, it was something some parisheners called him, if they had been in a catholic church before they came to an episcopal church. he missed her calling him dad, or even daddy. he just felt this distance between him and his oldest daughter. it broke his heart. “so, what are you planning today, samantha?” he asked, his voice gentle. he just wanted to connect with her, he didn’t even know what he did to her for her to treat him this way.

brooklyn entered the office and sat down at his invitation, putting her hands on her lap. “hi reverend, thank you for having me.” she said with a smile, looking down briefly to look at her ring. it was beautiful and she was happy to be wearing it on her finger, where it was supposed to go. “yeah, I was… kind of surprised about this too.” she smiled, nodding and looking at the older man. “my boyfriend proposed.” she said with a bright smile. “he proposed, like, six months ago but… when i was about to tell my family…” she began, her smile winding down, but she didn’t want to keep going. “you know.” the blonde said, wanting to finish that part of the conversation. “but i have no idea how this works, and I just couldn’t think of anyone better to give me advice and, you know, counseling.” brooklyn admitted, her voice shy. “i know that i need to bring my boyfriend for this, but is it fine if it is just… me today?”
chistian looked at her with kind eyes as he listened to her. he felt for brooklyn, having lost people she cared so much about. he couldn’t even imagine going through that, especially that young. he was surprised she’d gotten engaged but he wasn’t for or against it. yes, she was young but that didn’t mean she wasn’t ready. he had to know a bit more though. “well, let me be the first to congratulate you then.” he told her. “why don’t you tell me a bit about this fiancé of yours and why you want to get married to him.” he said, purposefully not saying boyfriend as she told him. that was a bit of a red flag, just a tiny one, that she was maybe still not understanding the gravity of impending marriage. “that might be a good place to start this conversation.” he told her.

“you can go for me then. i don’t think they will notice the difference.” hayley replied with a soft laugh. “just a lot of work. i have to keep up my grades, do well in my sports, get ready for the vote for next years student council president, and make sure my social life doesn’t fall apart. and soon i will have college applications to do.”
he raised his eyebrows. “wow, that certainly is quite a lot of work. that sounds like a lot of pressure. if there is anything i can help you with, please do tell me or if you need someone to vent to... that’s kind of my job as a reverend, you know... listen to things.” he said with a small smile. “and talking does help.”

the only reason ronan would be walking outside so early in the morning, is because his night is just ending and he’s on his way to sleep it off in his bed. so, you can imagine how unlucky it was for him to be stopped by reverend baker on the way; it also doesn’t help that he’s the one always trying to convince ronan to take it down a notch.. or five. “hey..— morning, reverend. beautiful day for a stroll, isn’t it?” if christian knew him at all (which he did), he’d know that ronan wasn’t just out for a nice little stroll. nevertheless, he gave him a toothy grin and pretended otherwise. “you’re lookin’ sharp this morning.”
“you don’t.” he said, bluntly thought with a small smile. “you seemed to have had a heavy night.” he commented and shook his head slightly. he had always wanted better for ronan. he didn’t care what or who he believed in, he really didn’t but he just wanted ronan to have a more stable, calm life that didn’t include walking home at eight am after a long night partying or whatever it was that he did. “i hope to see you in church this sunday, if you find the time or the energy to get up to be there at 9:30am.” he said, looking intensely at him. he just wanted to help him get a grip on life. he didn’t know how though, but he had to keep trying. he had to make sure ronan knew that he was there for him, that he cared. for now, that was all he could do, he thought.

ariana had been spending the last hour getting ready for school like she did everyday. since being brought into the baker’s home, ariana had enjoyed every morning she was able to do whatever she wanted to get ready. she hadn’t always had the luxury with all her foster homes. but she also knew that at anytime it could change. while she has been with them for seven years, she never trusted if that would always stay that way.
she left her house in a low-cut tank top and short shorts since it was a hot day in california. she wasn’t expecting to run into her foster father on her way out. “morning.” she replied.
christian looked at his foster daughter and looked over her attire. he really didn’t just police his daughters’ clothes, he really didn’t. the rules in his house that all shoulders had to be coverered, his boys as well as his girls because he didn’t like his sons in tank tops any more than he did his girls. he just found that it looked trashy, something that he didn’t want his family to be. he had never called it that thought.
“ariana, you know the rules.” he told her calmly. “i’d like you to go put on a t-shirt at least. i don’t let anyone in the household run around in tank tops, so don’t start with how unfair it is.” he told her, but didn’t comment on her shorts. he didn’t like them, he thought they were too revealing for his taste, but he felt that saying all shorts had to be to the knee would be unfair, because all boy shorts were that long and it would be the girls that were disadvantaged.

brooklyn looked around the office.it was pretty and modest, precisely how she’d pictured it before actually coming in. it was a place familiar to her, she’d been here many times in the past, but it was in very different circumstances. she had opted to wear the engagement ring on her finger to the counseling, wanting to actually wear it how it was supposed to be worn for once, instead of in the delicate gold necklace she usually wore. “reverend baker?” she asked, standing under the frame of the door. “i’m here, sorry for the delay, my class ended ten minutes later than expected.”
christian was sitting at his desk, piecing together the rules of the church with wishes of the groom and bride that were to be wed in his church in a few weeks. the couple was a bit excentric and while he wanted them to have the wedding they wanted, he didn’t want to lose the sacred rite of marriage that had set rules within the church.
his head jerked up as he heard brooklyn’s voice. he looked up at her and smiled. “brooklyn, come in. sit down.” he told her, invitingly. he was a bit surprised when she asked for a meeting in relation to pre-marital counciling but his door was open to everyone and anyone at every time, even when he didn’t understand what was exactly going on. “now, i must say i was surprised when you asked for this meeting...” his eye fell on a ring on her hand. “well, well, what is that?” he asked, with a small smile.
christian looked at himself in the mirror that was in the hallway of his house and smiled. his hair was nicely combed in a neat side parting and his priest shirt and collar was on, making him feel very confident. they weren’t the most flattering clothes, but he wore them for his lord and that was special to him. he was the only one that could make sense of the world and that had honestly kept him alive the last few months, after what happened.
he stepped outside of his house and smiled at the first person that passed him. “good morning.” he greeted them.

“why can’t the weekend just last forever? like i don’t want to go to school tomorrow.” hayley said with a soft smile.
the reverend overheard hayley speak about not wanting to school and he smiled softly. “i wish i could go to school again, but i guess that makes me old.” he jokingly said. “what is so terrible about school for you?” he wondered, honestly interested.
{SIMON BAKER; HETEROSEXUAL; CISMALE} Look who it is CHRISTIAN BAKER a 44 year old, known around Costa Luisa as THE REVEREND. Something that he is hiding from everyone is that HE WAS RAPED BY A MAN FOUR MONTHS AGO AND JUST TESTED POSITIVE FOR HIV. He is known to be GENEROUS, but also he can be JUDGEMENTAL.
