The Spanish love deception

High expectations? Yes

Were they met? Ummm

Okay so, the plot 3.5/5, characters 4/5, writing 2/5 and overall 3/5.

I've seen many people say that they either loved the book or hated it, no inbetween. But personally it was a long long book.

This was mainly because the start was drawn out and lengthy. She (Catalina 'Lina' Martín aka he FML) couldn't stick to any choice that she made apart from the one of parting from her beloved brownies to slim down for her sisters wedding. This was a let down for me because her deciding to go ahead with the fake dating was so prolonged that I nearly decided to continue another book that is currently in my DNF instead -but that could be caused by my short attention span (thankfully my patience got me through the beginning).

And the blue eyes. The ocean, baby-blue, ice-blue, midnight blue, deep shaded, light blue eyes - and that's only a few of the the adjectives the author used for them - were described soso much. I get it, he has blue eyes. Not only this but the amount of repetition used in this book as shocking. It was only a couple phrases here and there but even that was (just a little) too much cause the phrases didn't hold any sentimental or plot value to the characters or book they were just continuously used.

However, the book still had its good parts like the wedding, the confrontation with her ex and the ending/epilogue but I can't say that I loved the book or that it would even be considered for my top ten. It's a good book and I would recommend it, just not all the time.

If you are a lover for a slow burn and enjoy books that include banter and the fake dating trope you would be highly entertained by this book.
