𝑺𝑶𝑳𝑬𝑴𝑨𝑹𝑬 𝑭𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑽𝑨𝑳 !
luca hasn't attended a music festival in three decades and has no plans of changing that this year; solemare festival, instead, is one of his busiest weekends of the whole summer season. for those three days, if you want to find him, you'll probably find him behind the bar, pouring limoncello on a discount (in a henley- it's too hot and the shifts are too long to bother with a real button up). but if you see him at the festival- actually, scratch that. luca avoids those crowds like the plague unless someone calls him for a pick-up or they make their way through his door. for days two and three, the loafers might be exchanged for something a bit more comfortable after hours on his feet, and he'll pick up a pair of vintage sunglasses on his way out to his annual stop to write a postcard at postcards home. really, outside of the extra hours, the biggest change in luca's life during the festival is the rate at which he goes gray, with everything going on all at once.
who: luca & ace (@aftercure) where: sabbia de spiaggia
at this point in the night, luca serves more water than liquor. occasionally, it is at the request of a patron, but more often than not, someone mumbles out a request for another shot and luca will slide them a shotglass of water instead.
however, after another request of not just alcohol, but also the potential whereabouts of his most... notorious regular, he is well ready to be done serving at all.
he tells this girl that he has no idea where he is, hands her a bottle of water from behind the bar, and after he is sure she has left, he makes his way over to ace's normal seat, eyes lingering on his nearly-empty drink. in a clean motion, he swipes the glass out of ace's reach, refilling the drink before the request can even be made.
"i can't tell if i've made more off of your tabs or the people you bring into this place," luca huffs, "third one tonight, asking about you. are you ever going to bring someone with you into my bar, or will you just keep on avoiding the ones who want you to?"
who: luca & teddy (@svnhazeds) where: restaurant supply type store
a heavy, exhausted sort of sigh leaves luca's lips as he stares down at the shelf of bottles. the shopping's one of his least favorite parts of owning a bar, largely because of moments like this: feeling every one of his fifty-two years in his back as he crouches down to the bottom shelf of a store to grab bottles of fruit syrup. a rather unfortunate necessity of his life, especially with the festival coming up.
when he gets back up to his feet (with an obligatory huff as he straightens), the figure at his peripherals makes itself more known. luca eyes the other bartender, offering him a weak smile. "what a thing, tourist season." he gestures at both of their relatively full carts. "i hope it has been treating you better than it has been treating me?"
who: luca & ivy (@hugospr1tz) where: sole & limone
it's no secret that luca tries to avoid the tourist hotspots. he has to deal with enough of them on the regular- why would he want to see more of them? but there are a few places that he can't quite let himself avoid.
which is why he's at sole & limone, and there is not a single open table after he's gotten his food, and he can't bring himself to leave.
"perdonono," luca stands, coffee in one hand and a pastry in the other- "is this seat taken? it seems like every other one is." with a small nod, he pulls out the chair across from them, eyeing the notebook at their side. "can i ask what you are working on?"
– @revivalspirits ; beatriz + luca @ sabbia de spiaggia
"scusi? may i get another?" she tilts her head to her empty glass of wine demurely. as he returns, her mouth parts just before he can turn away, hands lifting to gesture around them. "actually – can i ask you something? do you know how long this bar has been open?"
luca sets the new glass down with a quick mutter of gustare, halfway through turning back behind the bar before he hears the question. "very long," he chuckles half-heartedly as he does the mental math, "thirty-five years," luca says finally, shaking his head and murmuring jesus christ under his breath. "too long, if you ask me." he sighs, "is there anything else i can get you?"

Luca's bar was quickly becoming Shae's favorite. To be completely fair, she'd only been a total of one time so far, but that was all it really took to earn her love. The drinks were great, but more than that, she appreciated the welcoming vibe of the place more than anything. It was clearly a local hotspot, so she did her best not to stand out too badly as she took a seat at the bar, eyes lighting up as she waved at the owner who had served her last time. "Buonasera," Shae chirped, offering a quick smile. "Busy day today?"
busy is not even in the same dictionary as the one luca would use to describe today. tourist season always means early mornings, late nights, and endless, repetitive conversations with drunks who think they're being clever. he's lucky that this woman wasn't one of them, at least as far as he could tell during her first time in a few nights ago. "buonasera," he greets, putting on his usual customer smile and slinging the rag in his hand over his shoulder. "not much more than usual." a quick shrug rolls off his shoulders and a more genuine smile quirks at the side of his lips, "what can i get for you, hm? same as last time, or will you be trying something new?"

“ so i have an idea, ” tonio began, slowing beside them as the street market carried on around them. “ you know how those book club people have that little table? leave a book, take a book, kind of thing. ” his gaze moved over the crates of tomatoes, lemons and greens, the thought clearly starting to amuse him. “ maybe we could do something like that around the neighborhood. could be nice, no? ”
luca laughs. tilts his head back, shuts his eyes for a moment, and laughs, before clapping a hand on his friend's shoulder and shaking his head. "no. no. i have seen the way your ideas have gone for thirty years. anything you touch- it will not go well." he jabs, stepping forward to inspect the produce, "and even if it did, i do not trust tourists for a single second. they see something free and they take it. look around you. in two weeks, there will be nothing left to swap." luca glances back at him, shrugging, "but you can always hope."
"so you're telling me i've spent the last five minutes comparing myself to people who are too busy looking at the view to notice me?" amara laughed. "honestly, that's kind of freeing." she glanced around at the crowds weaving through the street, “although now i'm curious, do you actually never people watch? because that's one of my favorite hobbies."
"watch? no, i never watch," luca confirms, shaking his head. "why would i watch? i work a shift behind the bar and they all come and tell me everything they think is interesting about themselves before i can even ask." he turns slightly, shifting in-between the passing crowd. "no reason to wonder about their lives, they tell me plenty after their third drink."

Amara stepped aside to let a couple squeeze past on the narrow street before looking over with an amused smile. "I swear everyone here looks like they're in a perfume commercial." She glanced down at herself. "Meanwhile, I've been carrying the same tote bag for three days and I'm calling it fashion."
"No? It's a nice bag," Luca hums, eyes following the couple as they pass for a moment too long, "No one has noticed, I promise-" after all, he hasn't- "But they are all just tourists. They like to look nice for their photos and their parties, no one actually thinks about how anyone else is dressed," still, he adjusts his shirt and shrugs. "At least I don't."

she’s staring at him for a solid of three seconds. “ okay, ” she takes a breath. “ i’m going to need you to rewind and explain that again … and make it slower, ” her finger is pointed vaguely in their direction, a glimpse of retreat painting on her face. “ you just used a word that sounded important and i know i smiled like i understood it, but i didn’t and yes, i know, that was my first mistake, ” she blurts out in one breath. “ do i look like someone who knows what that means ? ”
Luca shakes his head, letting out a low laugh. "Yes, Niya, you do. You're a clever girl," and maybe it's his age, but hearing her put herself down like that- he remembers when her father would show him photos of her as a kid fixing engines on her own. "It's very simple. do not worry," he raises a hand as if he could physically wave off her confusion, "Just simple economics. supply and demand, it's just the words- I'm sure you know plenty from the logistics at the garage, no?"
[ 🧭 ]ㅤ.ㅤwhere would they go if they could disappear tomorrow ?
the thing is, even if luca could disappear, he wouldn't. capri has been his home for his whole life, and no matter how bad things have gotten in his life, he's never left. really, any time he travelled out, luca would always find himself running back- every part of the area is familiar to him, and he's a creature of habit- no matter how painful some memories may be, he's always planning on staying.
playground equipment — what's a childhood memory, whether it's liked or not, that stands out to your muse? why does it stand out among the rest?
one of the most memorable moments or luca's childhood years took place when he was maybe fourteen or fifteen, working tables at a nice resort right on the beach. one of those places he'd never be able to afford at any point in his life, but the tips and the paycheck were worth the stiff button up and late nights. he'd been chatting up some american blonde, playing up the accent because that's what gets him paid, and she'd tipped him more than that job paid him all summer. it was that moment, staring down at the receipt, when he'd realized just the kind of person he'd need to be to make anything of himself in capri- and how much he hated it.
mercury, earth, ceres !! ♡
[ MERCURY ] is your muse good at communication ? can they hold a proper conversation, or are they always finding an excuse to avoid small talk ?
he learned to be, at least with friends. with tourists, he turns the conversation back to them, always- people like to talk about themselves, so it's a great way to get tips and regulars at the same time. after friends helped him through his grief, he had to learn to open up and be honest with them when it comes to serious matters. but conversing casually? you don't make it far in the service industry, especially in a tourist haven like capri, if you're not a charmer, and luca knows how to keep conversations going and make people feel heard and wanted.
[ EARTH ] how grounded is your muse ? are they logical and straightforward, or are do they always have their head in the clouds ?
luca's been a realist for as long as he could remember- living in a tourist town, growing up in a family that never had much more than they needed to get by, and working in the tourist-facing industries all his life made sure that he knew how things really worked. not that he's never dreamed- he's always had a fantasy where the bar took off, he'd have retired early with his family and would be able to take it easy for the rest of his life, but... there's a reason he, as a twenty-something with a dream was able to buy the place. he knows the realities of his life- that's what allows him to hope.
[ CERES ] does your muse take care of themself ? do they neglect their needs to put others first ?
as much as he can, luca prioritizes himself nowadays. it used to be family first, but when he lost that and his friends pulled him out of his grief, healing had to be the focus. he won't push himself to work extra hours at the bar if he won't need to, and he'll accept help if he actually needs it. occasionally he'll put his work first if money is tight, and for his close friends, well- he'd do anything for them at this point, after all they've done for him. if his close friends were going through a rough time, luca would absolutely put everything aside to help. but for tourists, acquaintances, strangers? not so much.
[ VENUS ] how does your muse handle love ? do they believe themself to be deserving of it, and how capable are they of loving others ? ─── @pearlcscents & @tidcbound
luca's not really interested in romantic love anymore. he loves hard, and when he cares, he cares deeply, but most of that is directed at friends nowadays. he's still trying to figure out how he feels about deserving love- still trying to forgive himself for the way he treated people- but he still cares about people. he loves his close friends to death and he loves his kid more than he can put into words, but when it comes to falling in love again, he's not interested- he's not ready, after loving the same person for so long, to move on already.
[ NEPTUNE ] does your muse dream frequently ? if they do, what kind of dreams (or nightmares) do they have ? ─── @aftercure & @unbelieved
luca doesn't dream often- he generally goes to bed late and wakes up early, that's just the reality of his business, so he crashes hard and most of the time, he sleeps just fine. when he does dream, though, it's the same nightmare every time- the night maria died. it always plays out the same way, forcing him that day and every time, being completely helpless to do anything. those nights, no matter how little he sleeps before the nightmare wakes him, he won't sleep for the rest of the night.
🖐️ , 🕊️ , 💢 , 🌧️ . 🎀 , 🕸️ , 🌀 , ⚓ !!
[ 🖐️ ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat do their hands feel like: soft, calloused, trembling ?
more calloused than someone expects out of a bar owner, but sabbia's a small place and luca works many jobs- hauling crates of ice after a twelve-hour shift, lifting barrels of beer, cleaning the place from top to bottom, and he's earned a couple burns on his hands from working the kitchen, too.
[ 🕊️ ]ㅤ.ㅤwhen did they feel the safest ?
oh, that was years ago- back when his kid was little, maria was still alive, some summer when the business was doing well and the constant stress of bills to pay was quiet for a few weeks. stability, for luca, is safety, and those summers were the few times in his life where he had nothing to worry about.
[ 💢 ] ㅤ. ㅤwho have they never forgiven and never will?
himself. when he was spiraling, he was awful to a lot of people who loved him. even if he can repair his relationship with his kid (and god, he hopes he can), there's plenty of friends who still won't look at him the same or won't look at him at all. every person he drove away is another thing that keeps him up at night, and luca refuses to let himself forget it.
[ 🌧️ ]ㅤ.ㅤis there a pain they refuse to heal from ?
not anymore. for a while, luca thought he'd feel the pain of maria's death for the rest of his life, but after emerging from his mess and seeing everyone that he'd hurt, he knew that not healing wasn't an option. he works on himself as much as he can, and has learned to set aside his pride to open up to people when he needs to. holding on to pain is just going to make things get worse again, as far as he's concerned- healing doesn't mean forgetting, but he knows he has to move forward.
[ 🎀 ] ㅤ . ㅤwhat is their main love language?
to receive? physical touch. one of the little things that he misses the most since maria died is coming home from a long day and being held, going to bed and wrapping his arms around his wife, or being in the kitchen and feeling her settle her arms around his waist. to give? acts of service. luca loves feeling needed, necessary, he'd always wanted to give maria the stability that they never really had. he used to buy her little gifts, make breakfast before she could wake up, or put their kid to bed so she could relax- he was always trying to do something to prove she could rely on him.
[ 🕸️ ]ㅤ.ㅤdo they have a favourite lie they like to hear?
when tourists tell him that they're fine. he's been running his bar for nearly thirty years, at this point, he's heard every kind of drunk tourist tell him about their relationship troubles over their fourth beer. and after having to hear kids in their twenties complain about cheating partners while working through his spiral of grief, there's nothing he enjoys more than a patron who will tell him that they're fine when he offers to talk, because it feels like giving himself a minute to breathe.
[ 🌀 ]ㅤ ㅤ. ㅤdo they have a recurring dream or nightmare?
it's a recurring nightmare, of course it is. not hard to decipher, either- the day maria died. it's the same dream every time- walking into his home, seeing her, calling the emergency line, and the doctor who told him that there was nothing that anyone could've done. every time it happens, he dreads sleeping for the next week, and he always wakes up with his hands shaking and tears in his eyes.
[ ⚓ ] ㅤ. ㅤwhat does “home” mean to them?
it's having people around him, feeling loved. luca's lived in the same place for nearly all his life, but there's nothing that makes him feel more comfortable than having his close friends around. it used to be his family, but now it's friends who make it feel close enough.
