the flower tunnel was exactly as chaotic as she'd expected. couples traded phones with strangers, friends argued over who blinked, someone somewhere was determined to throw handfuls of flower petals into every photo despite the increasingly obvious wind. amara lingered just long enough to watch one failed attempt dissolve into laughter before stepping aside, nearly making room for someone else at the same time. "they're never going to get everyone looking at the camera," she murmured, more amused than anything not speaking to anyone directly, but welcoming conversation from whoever was nearby possibly people watching just as she was.

the festival had a way of making everything feel louder than it needed to be, at least in her mind. vivienne wandered away from the main stretch of the beach, trading the pulse of the speakers for one of the smaller paths that overlooked the water. it was quieter there, still close enough to hear the music, far enough that conversations didn't have to compete with it. she paused at a railing, resting her forearms against the weathered wood for a moment before exhaling softly. "i'd almost forgotten how exhausting it is to be around this many people, though i suppose for some that's the best part of this festival. or any for that matter."

“   tell   me   you’re   not   actually   following   that,   ”    he   caught   her   studying   the   festival   schedule   with   too   much   concentration   on   her   face   and   he   just   had   to   step   it.    before   she   can   answer,    the   paper   gets   plucked   from   her   hands   and   immediately   put   in   his   back   pocket.    “   you   know   what   people   never   say   at   a   festival   ?    ‘then   we   arrived   at   main   stage   exactly   on   time’,   ”

it's no secret that luca tries to avoid the tourist hotspots. he has to deal with enough of them on the regular- why would he want to see more of them? but there are a few places that he can't quite let himself avoid.

which is why he's at sole & limone, and there is not a single open table after he's gotten his food, and he can't bring himself to leave.

"perdonono," luca stands, coffee in one hand and a pastry in the other- "is this seat taken? it seems like every other one is." with a small nod, he pulls out the chair across from them, eyeing the notebook at their side. "can i ask what you are working on?"

      “   you   know   people   in   italy   go   to   prison   for   ordering   a   cappuccino   after   midday   ,   don't   you   ?   are   you   trying   to   get   us   both   exiled   back   to   england   ?   ”   although   a   bit   of   an   exaggeration   on   his   part   ,   it   wouldn't   surprise   the   man   if   the   situation   escalated   to   that   given   how   strict   locals   were   with   their   rules   on   food   .   “   we'll   have   these   refreshing   drinks   ,   it   is   summer   after   all   .   ”   he   said   as   if   the   decision   was   only   up   to   him   and   not   the   woman   sitting   across   from   him   .   “   as   i   was   saying   ,   the   suttons   are   one   call   away   from   losing   it   all   to   a   tax   evasion   and   money   laundering   scandal   ,   the   very   last   thing   they   should   be   doing   is   judging   you   .   ”   and   that   call   could   very   much   come   from   him   .
