8 months later, the nation’s top cyberbullying experts still haven’t heard from Melania Trump

Eight months ago Melania Trump announced she would take on cyberbullying as first lady of the United States.

Today, some of the nation’s most prominent anti-cyberbullying experts told Mic that neither they nor any of their colleagues in the field had been contacted by Trump or anyone from her staff.

“It’s one of the many mysteries of the 2016 presidential campaign,” Larry Magid, CEO of ConnectSafely, “Why she chose to put herself in a position where she is taking on the very issue that her husband is so publicly guilty of is just bizarre.”

After her stated commitment, Magid told Mic he reached out directly to Trump to work with her on how she could be an effective combatant of cyberbullying. However, he said he heard no response from either the first lady or anyone from her office. Read more (7/7/17)

The GOP is now trying to pin its health care woes on… Hillary Clinton?

Unable to craft a health care plan that’s palatable to the American public, the Republican Party has turned to a new, and curious, tactic: Blame Hillary Clinton and the Democrats for not having a plan.

In a Wednesday morning tweet, the RNC’s official twitter account sent out a tweet asking: “Where’s your plan, @HillaryClinton?”

The strategy is bizarre for a number of reasons. Most notably, Clinton is not an elected official, so it’s unclear why they’d place the onus on her to craft legislation.

What’s more, Clinton did put out her plan during the 2016 campaign. Read more (7/5/17)

Obama defends his signature health care law as Senate unveils plan to repeal it

Former President Barack Obama on Thursday came to the defense of one of his signature achievements, the Affordable Care Act, after Senate Republicans announced draft legislation to gut it.

Experts said the Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, as it’s called, would result in more Medicaid beneficiaries losing health insurance than even the House version of the bill, which passed in May. Read more (6/23/17)

Democrats blast “heartless” Republican health care bill

Senate Democrats are working to stall what they described as the “heartless” health care reform bill released by Senate Republicans on Thursday morning.

“This bill will result in higher costs, less care and millions of Americans will lose their health insurance, particularly through Medicaid,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said. “The way this bill cuts health care is heartless." 

Democrats immediately began working to slow down the proceedings to keep the bill from getting the quick vote Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants on it. Read more (6/23/17)

I don't completely agree with how the ACA is structured and I recognize its faults, but this "Better Care" bullshit is miles in the wrong direction.

I hope all these supporters get a taste of their own medicine. The lack of compassion is appalling. Blinded by the idea of "winning" when we're all Americans. Americans are the people who will lose. Not libs or conservatives. Americans.

The Senate finally unveiled the latest iteration of the GOP’s proposed health care plan on Thursday morning. Among the many proposed changes, including massive cuts to Medicaid, the bill would cut funding to Planned Parenthood for a year.

According to Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the move only underscores just how little Republican senators understand about what Planned Parenthood actually does.
