the arcane discourse makes me feel quite validated about how i feel about how riot chooses to paint some of the characters in valorant
i think later i will talk about what i personally would like from a valorant movie
want no. 1: for it to not be a movie

for anyone that has watched arcane and follows league of legends lore - how does the characterization differ between show and game? obviously you can fill in details and craft story way more extensively in the format of a show, but what did the sketches of arcane's characters look like in the game itself?
i'm wondering bc one thing about valo lore as it exist in the game is just how flat everyone is. obviously, it's a tac shooter - you're not going to hammer home that your sexy femme fatale poison evil scientist lady is extremely deeply uber traumatized and is self-flagellating about it all the time. that could not be less interesting to a majority of people who play.
i ask this just because the characters in game are astoundingly flat. because lore is not a priority, all the characters are extremely vague outline. there's hint of backstory and interpersonal relationships between agents, but unless an agent feels strongly about another, a lot of them lack personal motivation entirely.
there's rumours of a valorant movie - where a lot of the blanks will be filled in - but i am curious as to the extent of the blanks in league lore going into the release of arcane as someone who doesn't much of anything about league lore.
i don't know if they've introduced ideas about the inception of radiants in the world but i like the idea of brimstone being a captain america-esque "man out of time" who had a life before radiants and now this is his world
i am a steadfast chamber is a radiant truther. it just suits him. he’s this aloof guy who has a certain way he likes to project himself, but his great fear in fade’s vision was being cast out. him being a radiant with comparatively minor powers (pocket dimensions) and him making something of them and just not talking about it suits his fixation on his self-made image and his insistence that that image is his natural state of being
because valorant is obviously an fps game one of the Lore side effects is that you just have a collection of people with the craziest power sets on earth but obviously because it’s not the point of the game - all you need for the game to work are characters with abilities and environments for maps - but some of the things these people do is absolutely crazy. the ability to bring back people from the dead is often a major earth shattering thing with major consequences in a lot of universes with supernatural abilities but the way sage and clove both do in the current canon is more or less at will and then they just skip off into the sunset
all this to say if you want to do valorant media you have to massively tweak the power scaling lol

riot games you want to make a valorant animated series so bad…..
but how does the new valorant patch affect the lore?
vyse is the first new character in a while that lore-wise makes me go hmmmm...... interesting
