More yurt building progress :) Ran the roof pole timber through the thicknesser. Glued up two layers of the steam bent ash for the new crown, that's cling film protecting the old crown, that polyurethane expanding glue gets everywhere..
Started to build our second yurts, not a lot to show yet, two lengths of Ash timber steamed and bent around the old yurts crowns -being used as formers. Two down, ten to go.
Yurt wall pieces, Ash wood, steamed and setting on the former
Collected a new toy today :) Apparently, its not to double up as a coffee table when not in use ;(
Some people spend a lot of money to make a living green roof. I seem to spend a lot of my time brushing them away. It looks nice green!!
The Forgotten Crafts, John Seymour
Bit more work done on the stool..
Change of pace today, instead of thatching the roof, we were involved in a few scenes for a German film company, they needed us to set up ladders and camera platform, and play the part of "strangled body on roof"
Another half finished project! Was gonna overhaul the brakes on my bike, but my 12mm die had arrived in the post, so I knocked this up. It will eventually be an adjustable augur/drill for setting the hole angles in wooden seat bases for the legs.. such as the stool I started the other day. My mate is well in to his Windsor chair making, so I'm sure he'll have more use for this than me.
Started to put together a cutting list for yurt no2 (yurt no1 pictured) big project, many evenings and weekends.. Can't wait to start it though!
Today I started to make a stool, a project thats been in my mind for awhile now. The base that's glued up in the sash clamps, is sycamore -offcut from a desk top I made last year. The legs are ash -cut a few months ago from the tree in my garden. Unsure if I'm doing 3 or 4 legs yet, the seat will be two layers, round, with a forged steel band and forged nails to disguise the two-ply join.. Or, that's the plan!
Steven Ragatz
Magical. But it lacks a silly walk. :D
Saw Steven Ragatz perform at the bjc recently, fantastic routines :-)
Afternoons forging, my first attempt at tong blanks, made from 3/4" round. Well chuffed with the outcome :-)
Patiently it waits.
Beetle engine rebuild so far. All my own work, sandblasting, repairs and paint. No new, chrome bolt on tat here.
