Today is 70 years since The Fellowship of the Ring was published 📕

The Lord of the Rings was probably the first fandom for so many people, including me.

I was eleven and I lived in this book more than anywhere else.

It was pure magic and I would give anything to feel this way while reading again 🥹

A few years ago I made this illustration as a tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien and his books ❤️‍🔥

Arwen physically saves Frodo and spiritually saves Aargon. She contemplates her choices, fights for the future, and owns the consequences of her decisions.   As a female character, Arwen replaces a role that was given to a man in the novel. In Fellowship, it is the Elf-lord Glorfindel who rescues Frodo from his Weathertop wound, rather than Arwen. 

Though Arwen is barely mentioned in the novels, the power and impact given to Arwen is something to celebrate more and more. The emphasis of her strength and grace speaks to how brilliantly she’s adapted into the screenplay.
