I've seen a lot of people complaining about the Stranger Things finale because of queer baiting and such, but...what queer baiting was there? I'm genuinely curious.

Will's thing was one-sided and Mike doesn't even like boys (and if he does end up realizing he does, it wasn't going to happen in the last couple hours of this season). It's still something they actually focused on and made obvious to everyone with half a brain, so they can follow up on it next season.

And no one else besides Robin is even queer. (Or if they are, it hasn't been telegraphed.)

I don't follow promotional stuff or watch trailers or read interviews, so I dunno if marketing was playing up something like Eddie's lack of personal space to hint at Eddie/Steve being a possibility, but in the show itself there was never any real evidence of anyone else being anything else but straight.

Steve's only shown interest in girls. Eddie was flirting with a girl at the start of the season. Etc. Beyond Will and Robin, no one else has been hinted to be queer. So...I'm not sure why people thought there would be a lot of representation in the finale? Or that the writers bait and switched us at the last minute?

Did people actually think Robin and Nancy were going to end up together because Robin found her attractive? Or Steve and Eddie because Eddie mentioned that Steve was cool?

The Mike/Will stuff on Twitter has been wild this last month. It's been clear that it's one sided and Mike likes girls, so idk what people were expecting.

Getting queerbaited by your own headcanons isn't actual queerbaiting. And how they tackled it here was as good as it was gonna get tbh.

(Mike's ending does suck though. Why they put my boy through all that?)
