But also— go find yourselves some comrades and go build yourself a community.
I assure you, the green anarchist, anarcha-feminist, anarcho-syndicalist, socialist, Maoist, and Marxist feminist all have more in common than they have of differences.
Shoutout to leftists who are too poor/disabled to give back to their community.
Shoutout to leftists who are too poor/disabled to shop at local/small businesses.
Shoutout to leftists who are poor/disabled and have to buy things from Amazon and other megacorps because it’s the most cheap or convenient.
Shoutout to leftists who are too poor/disabled to reduce their environmental footprint because they need the single-use plastics.
Shoutout to leftists who can’t go vegan because of dietary needs, disordered eating, or neurodivergence.
Shoutout to leftists who can’t volunteer or go to community events/protests/noise demonstrations because of inaccessibility.
Shoutout to leftists who can only be politically active online because they’re housebound.
Shoutout to leftists who are disabled and are rarely politically active because they simply don’t have the energy.
Shoutout to leftists who can’t be politically active because they’re under the care of a guardian or are trapped in an abusive situation, and they don’t have control over their finances/belongings.
Shoutout to leftists who can’t read theory, or who have trouble reading theory, but still do their best to learn.
Shoutout to leftists who can’t understand theory at all because of cognitive/intellectual disability.
Shoutout to leftists who want to be more active in their community but can’t because they struggle with anxiety, socializing, or maintaining relationships.
Shoutout to leftists with personality disorders, complex trauma disorders, conduct disorders, OCD, psychosis, and any other leftist whose personality or thoughts often unwillingly go against their beliefs due to a trauma response or chemical imbalance.
Shoutout to leftists who don’t have any “practical” skills that would be needed in a commune (i.e farming, building, sewing)
Shoutout to leftists who are too busy simply trying to survive to even think about being politically active.
Shoutout to leftists who have to always ask for mutual aid but can never give back.
Shoutout to all the leftists who can’t do this and can’t do that and can’t do the things that leftists are “supposed” to do. No one person is perfect.
You aren’t a fake leftist for not being able to do these things. All that matters is that you put in the effort, in whatever way that you can.
It’s not about your abilities as an individual. It’s about our power as a collective.
The world lost another great folk punk musician, Daniel “Bip Umms” Curtis Jeffers.
I still remember the day he shared this song with me.
May his songs be remembered and his memory be a blessing.
Those who rise up and fight against injustice and oppression never really die. They live in our hearts and in our fights for a better tomorrow. For Carlo Giuliani who was killed by the police at the age of 23 during the anti-globalization protests against the G8 summit in Genoa, Italy on 20 July 2001. We do not forgive and we definitely won't forget https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acmY-wWVv5w

“To the daring belongs the future” - Emma Goldman
You are not alone, organize, agitate, revolt!
there's two types of conspiracy theories in american culture:
blatant antisemitism
not actually a conspiracy theory the cia really admitted to doing this in declassified documents that are publicly available but the average american is so brainwashed by nationalist fervor that they refuse to believe it and call it a conspiracy even though, and i cannot stress this enough, the government literally admits to doing it
This is 100% why I never believe in conspiracy theories.
i like economics but i hate talking to certain types of economically minded people because it always ends up with them being like ‘here let me show you a graph that justifies massive poverty’
“Scarce resources mean that the majority should live in squalor while the few should live in comparable luxury, because the mob is too stupid to deal with pricing mechanisms and allocation. Production autocracy is fine because competition means that the autocrats will do what is best for all, even though this principle doesn’t apply to competing state autocrats because the state is bad even though I need it to uphold my production autocracy. This is economic science.”
These were both really good responses and we wanted to get them both in one reblog of the post
Y’all should check out Radical Economics, Feminist Economics, and Anarchist Economics. “The Economy” is about individual’s relationship to production. When you make a meal for your friends, that’s the economy. When you support each other through mutual aid, that’s the economy.
Early economic theory was designed primarily by women and focused almost entirely on the economy of caring and education. Dr. Edith Kuiper has a great article about the early origins that came out December 2019. When you start to view economics through those lens, you realize that the reason why individuals who use graphs try to justify poverty isn’t because there’s something wrong with economics, but because they are too dense to understand the complexity of economic theory and instead of admitting they are wrong they decide to be assholes instead. Claudia Sahm (Sahm’s theory) is a great example of how understanding economic theory can lead to approaches that decrease poverty instead of an increase it.
Don’t let your experience with assholes get in the way of exploring a topic that interests you. The only reason those folks are viewed as more “economically-minded” is because there’s been a concerted effort to gatekeep in the field. If they annoy you it’s not because they are better at it than you; it’s because you have a better grasp of the foundations than them.
