aw, that little Kon story in DC's Hawk-Girl Summer really is one of his better showings in the last, like. 6-7 years, at least. also one of the only pieces in here that felt like it could actually slot very easily into current canon with basically no tweaks needed, to characterization or anything else. (some of the others are like, vaguely current-continuity, but they're mostly of a more goofy, light-hearted, OOC-ish vibe. the Jason + Robins story is fully WFA, for instance.)
really nice supporting usage of Bart, with context making it clear they've been hanging out and keeping up like normal. actually bringing up Kon's uncomfortable child-celebrity years, with a fresh dose of him getting carelessly taken advantage of... letting Kon have complicated feelings about his self-image and wider perception among the public, and getting to lightly commentate (on both meta and in-universe levels!) on the growth he's experienced, and how it's often ignored (by these hard-light gimmick folks, in-story) or regressed (by modern DC and the reading audience also). the hard-light Superboy being his 90's version: "Like me, I guess...but goofy, you know...kind of a joke. I...I didn't know people still saw me like that." OOF. YES GOOD GIVE ME MORE 😈

and oh. oh I see, this is Cavan Scott! so this isn't his first time writing Kon, he's the author of Titans United: Bloodpact - which is one of my favorite modern DC minis, he did a fabulous Tim & Dick in that as well. put him on a Kon book or a Tim book or a YJ-generation book, stat 👉
