please can everyone reblog photos of Roger where he has muscle definition for scientific purposes?
I give you
Early Roger, or ‘surprisingly not just a noodle’
Mid period Roger, or ‘learning how to rock a cropped t shirt’
And finally ‘a man in his prime’

Queen’s Roger Taylor On I’m In Love With My Car: “Brian’s never forgiven me. And I’ve never stopped laughing about it!”
Roger Taylor and Brian May speak to MOJO about the drummer’s infamous B-side to Bohemian Rhapsody and the creative processes within Queen.
Shared by renrensoh on X.
More snippets of Jazz outtakes - Brian messing up his guitars and going "Bollocks, I'm sorry, my fault!"
Apparently Brian says that a lot when he messed up and I'm kind of obsessed with it lmaooo
Thanks to the taper, Bob for sharing, Miles for remastering.
It’s rare that a new photo comes up unheralded but I have never seen this one before: Queen in Sunderland March 8 1974 according to the caption. Definitely looking more like four poor students against the world than baby rock stars on the brink of success
ROGER TAYLOR in Somebody to Love (1976)
Happy Valentines Day! (It isnt Valentines day yet for me im just too excited for it huhu) + extra maylor doodle
All us queenies are familiar with the I'm Going Slightly Mad music video (you know, the one where Brian's dressed as a penguin)
But has anyone ever wondered what type of penguins are in the video?
I've been looking at this picture. It looks like there are two different species of penguins, as one penguin is taller and has different coloring than the other two.
Going off of this list^^, I was able to figure out the bigger penguin of the three was most likely a Magellanic penguin!!!
As for the other two, I think they're Australian little penguins???? Or maybe little blues???
Anyway, it's 4:00am where I am and I'm tired as hell, I hope this post is comprehensive!!! Here, have some bonus pics:
Interview with Brian on Guitarist magazine Feb 2025.
hey, gang. I fear I haven't posted in like 2 weeks. It's just because I've had a devious plan brewing. YOOO I'M MAKING A BRIAN MAY FANFIC 🔥. I have NEVER written a fanfic before so cut me some slack. It will be somehow horrible in some way, at some point. It might come out in the next few days (maybe tmrw or the next day if you're lucky) . it will be on ao3 in at least on Feb 19th because that's when I get an invitation. bye bye.
Pleaaaasssseeee! I need to know where this is froooom?!?!?! I have always been a sucker for the legend of Roger’s hurt hands!
This is from the 1989 recording of Smoke On The Water! :)
This raises more questions, though. Why would Roger have minor injuries if during 1989 Queen was no longer touring? Is Smoke on The Water that hard to play? Thank you for finding the source! 🥰
(Queen might not have been touring at the time, but they were recording things for 'Innuendo' roughly during the same time when the Smoke on the Water single for Rock Aid Armenia was recorded [in 5 sessions from July 8th 1989 onwards] - just as an aside.)
But, generally it's exactly the down-time that causes more injuries than regular touring & recording! because your hands get soft when you don't play. And it's anybody's guess really how much drumming Roger was actually doing apart from the scheduled studio sessions during that time...
Historically, Roger's hands were in a pretty bad shape without regular rehearsing. E.g. during Queen's 1974 USA tour:
[...] If you said Taylor attacks his drums with a blistering intensity, you wouldn’t be far off. One of the consequences of his inability to practice in his home has been his perennial victimisation by the traditional drummer’s malady - blisters. He’s been plagued by the sores on both of Queen’s American tours, and the sight of his bloody nubs has been shocking enough to send roadies scurrying feverishly about in search of bandages and healing ointments. “I’ve really had a lot of trouble,” he confesses. “Blood everywhere and a lot of bandages. It’s a really intense stage act. It’s in no way laid back. It’s pretty high energy, and yeah, it’s pretty hard on the hands. At the beginning of a tour, especially if we haven’t been playing for awhile, your hands tend to soften up. It’s just a case of hardening them. After two or three weeks they harden up pretty well. At the beginning of the last tour it was really bad because we did a lot of double shows. That was tearing my hands to bits. I know a few other guys who get a lot trouble like that. Bonham tears his hands to shreds. The only way to get over it is to practice like hell two weeks before you come over to do a tour. Just keep playing all the time.” [...]
– Roger Taylor interviewed by Frank Rose for Circus Raves, September 1975 issue ("Roger Meddows-Taylor: his hands are soft but his beat is hard")
There are some photos of minor injuries during later tours too, e.g.:
📸: Michael Ochs archives / Gettyimages
^January 1977: Roger photographed applying liquid bandage onto his fingers
📸: Music Life / Shinko Music
^ April 1979: Roger presenting his blistered hands while being interviewed for Music Life
TL:DR - So my personal guess is that these injuries in '89 stem from inactivity & the intensity of his drumming :)
And! From the video "Tour Rehearsals: Lightning tour around Tour Village With Brian May 15/01/2015" (x). @onegoldenglance posted this short bit with Roger and Rufus here.
Screencaps and transcript by me. Brian talks to Roger and Rufus as Roger is bandaging Rufus' hands. Roger's holding a box of bandages and motions to his own fingers as he talks.
Brian: "...in fact we have two Mr. Taylors here." Rufus: "Hello." Roger: "Hello, hello." Brian: "Here we are." Roger: "Let's make it clear that the real workers around here have to bandage their hands..." Rufus: "Yes." Roger: "...because of the massive wear and tear."
