To welcome the new slave in the household vizier had a particularly cruel ceremony.

The slave would kneel in the courtyard in front of a table filled with different whips, tawses, canes and crops - the overseer would then explain how each of those whips would be used if the boy would break any of the multiple rules of the household. And then he would demonstrate each punishment.

For example: failure to greet vizier properly is 5 lashes with flogger and then the man would flog the slave, giving him the taste of punishment. Dropping food or drink during service: crop to the arms. Breaking chastity: ass whipping and crop to the cock. And so on. The poor boy would be whipped for mistakes he did not make as the vizier would watch in the background, enjoying his slave's suffering with a refreshing drink.
