“A Smart Student Information System, with Real-time Analytics!”
🧑🏫 As a teacher, do you experience problems with computing grades manually? Does it feel very tedious, ESPECIALLY with the amount of students you have to handle?
Well, you're not alone.. The manual inputting and recording of student data is prevalent in many schools around the world. But honestly, it is already proven to be inefficient and time-consuming. Not only only that, it also exists in the Children of Fatima School Inc. Senior High School Mabalacat. So for the students, teachers, and other school personnel that works or study there, this is for you!
Juggling stacks of assignments and manually computing grades can feel like a never-ending task, pulling you away from what really matters, connecting with your students. Our study, “Development of an Intelligent Student Information System for CFSI SHS Mabalacat: Real-Time Analytics for Enhanced Student Data Management”, proposes a system that will help with this prevalent problem.
😕 But first of all, WHAT THE HECK even is a Student Information System?
Student Information System (SIS) refers to a system that accesses, provides, maintains, and organizes student information (Mazadu, 2022). In another source, it is defined as a web-based platform which helps schools and colleges in storing student data online for easier management and better clarity (Edwards, 2022).
What does our system have that makes it ✨ DISTINCT ✨ from others?
Our system will have a Real-time Analytics Dashboard implemented. In a nutshell, Real-time Analytics refers to tools that visualize current data like attendance, grades, participation, etc., as soon as it's available (Dinella, 2024). With that in mind, this allows teachers or educators to see trends or problems quickly.
👥 Who will benefit from the Student Information System (SIS) ?
Teachers' aren't the only ones that will benefit from the SIS. The Guidance Advocate, Prefect of Discipline, the School Administration—even the students and their parents will benefit!
How will they benefit?
For the teachers - The SIS will help make inputting, organizing, and computing the grades of students faster and more efficient, errors will also less likely occur. With the Real-time Analytics Dashboard, it will also help them be able to see where the student is having a hard time. This allows the teachers to decide the proper solution that may help the student.
For the students - They will clearly see or have time to see their grades, attendance, and their progress. Being able to see their shortcomings, they will be given courage or motivation to improve their work. Not only that, their grades will be accessible everywhere, even in the comfort of their homes. This should solve the really TEDIOUS process of having to ask their subject teachers and advisers for their grades if they want to know where to improve on.
For the Guidance and Prefect of Discipline - Like with the teachers, it will be easier for them to organize and input students' behavioral information. With the Real-time Analytics Dashboard as well, they will see much more easier what the students' problems are and may think of a solution for said problem.
In conclusion....
With the help of our Student Information System, the work of the school administration can be improved. The teachers can easily access, input, organize, and manage academic data, as well as KNOW what the student is struggling with, academically. Students having their data (academically and behavioral) accessible EVERYWHERE. And yada yada.
Let's modernize education and make it more effective, efficient, and cooperative! SIS is the key to increasing student achievement and improving teaching quality.
