Hi! My name is Callie and I am 17 years old. I go to Douglas S. Freeman High School and am a rising senior. I have been a Girl Scout since I was in first grade and decided last year that I wanted to start working on my Girl Scout Gold Award. The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. It is only open to girls in high school and challenges us to solve a community problem. I have always had a passion for animals and it saddens me greatly to see any animal without a home. Having grown up around animals, I know how much joy they can bring to a person or a family. I also spend quite a lot of time on social media platforms, such as Tumblr, and have seen the way online communities can make a real impact in the world around them and beyond. I wanted to bring the two together and use social media as a way to connect orphaned animals with loving, nurturing homes. Through this website, I plan to use my social media knowledge, photography and writing skills to post stories and photographs to this Tumblr account to help people in the community see the animals in the Richmond SPCA as I see them: beautiful, unique, and all worthy of love no matter what their physical or medical challenges may be. I also hope to spread knowledge and awareness of the different types of animals in the Richmond SPCA shelter and the issue of animal homelessness throughout the Richmond area and the nation. I will be posting on this account once a week, highlighting a different animal or event each time! I am so excited to get started on this project! Thank you all! Callie Williams
