Chapter 14

Rick woke up after hearing the sound of footsteps outside. He remained silent, trying to figure out how many people were out there. Then, he woke Michonne, gesturing to her that there was only one person outside and telling her to stay quiet and not make a sound. Michonne stayed in her place, while Rick stood up and moved toward the window, which was mostly covered with a layer of plastic and two wooden planks, but he couldn't see anyone outside.

Michonne followed him after putting her clothes on and gestured to him, asking what was out there. He finally spoke, saying, "I don't know. I think it's a wild animal. The tracks are gone; I don't hear anything anymore." Michonne sighed with relief and told him, "We need to move. I don't feel safe here." Rick agreed with her. But as they were gathering their belongings, the door burst open violently. They didn't even have time to grab their weapons.

Rick and Michonne stood frozen, glaring at the person standing before them. Their eyes were filled with rage. Michonne tried to lung toward the couch to grab a weapon, but a sudden gunshot stopped her in her tracks as a voice finally spoke: "Don't even try. One move, and I'll send you to the other side."

Both of them froze. It was completely unexpected; they never thought she would catch up to them so quickly. Rick spoke with an angry but controlled tone: "What the hell do you want from us, Jadis? I don't understand this obsession with keeping me there."

"I've told you before, Rick," she replied. "First of all, I won't allow anyone to pose even the slightest threat to the Civic Republic Military." She added mockingly as she stepped closer to him, "And the second reason... you know it very well, Rick. But that won't stop me from killing you in cold blood, and then," she pointed at Michonne, "your little girlfriend." She paced back and forth, that provoking smirk plastered all over her face

She walked toward the table where the drink was, poured herself a glass, and took a small sip. Before she could utter a word, Michonne hurled a knife at her, striking her in the shoulder. Exploiting this moment of weakness, they disarmed her. Jadis threw herself onto the bed, clutching her wound. She looked up at Rick, who was now holding the gun, and said, "You won't do it, Rick. I told them I’d be back within 24 hours. If I don't return, they will search my room, and you know exactly what’s in there. I've told you countless times—if I die, even by accident, all of Alexandria dies with me. And your little children too. That would be quite a pity, wouldn't it?" She laughed as she spoke.

Michonne could no longer contain her rage. Not after this woman had just mentioned threatening her children and all of their friends. She lunged toward her instantly, overpowering her and forcing her to face the consequences of her threats. Jadis laughed at first, but then began screaming and throwing threats left and right. This didn't stop Michonne. She held her ground with a lethal tone: "Now you’re going to tell us where your damn file is, or this ends right here, right now. The choice is yours.

Jadis laughed through the pain and said to Michonne, "Really? Go ahead, kill me. But don't blame me for what happens next. I told you, if I die, your children and friends die too. Our fates are bound together, aren't they, Rick?" She shifted her gaze from Michonne to Rick, who had been standing back, watching Michonne's actions. Finally, he stepped forward and pulled Michonne off Jadis. Michonne glared at him, furious that he had pulled her away. Rick looked at Jadis and asked, "What do you want from us?

With a dead serious tone, Jadis replied, "After what she just did, there is no deal." Her hand began reaching for her CRM radio device, but Rick instantly shot the radio, and the bullet hit her foot as well. Jadis screamed in agony. Rick looked down at her and said, "This pain you're feeling? All these years I spent away from my family and my love, I was feeling a similar pain, and even worse. I am not that Rick anymore. Not while she is by my side." He took Michonne's hand and continued, "We can do anything. You said it, and you're right. We can do everything together—including destroying your precious organization and everyone in it.

Jadis laughed hysterically and said, "Everyone who tried to do that was sent to the other side. They torture them, then kill them, just like zombies." She stopped talking abruptly, then added with a chuckle, "Oh, I almost forgot. Someone named... oh, Okafor. Your beloved friend. He was trying to stage a coup against the organization, and now he’s in hell. His girlfriend too. I have a hard time remembering names." Rick said, "Thorne?" She snapped her fingers and said, "Yes, her! They were trying to stage a coup. I don’t know what their tiny brains told them to do, but they are both dead." Rick couldn't contain his rage; he lunged toward her and struck her across the head, knocking her unconscious.

Michonne grabbed Rick and hugged him, saying, "I'm so sorry for what happened to your friends." Rick embraced her tightly in return, his eyes welling up with tears. Wiping his tears away, he pulled back slightly from Michonne's embrace and said, "We are in danger whether we go back home or to them. But I want revenge on all of them for what they did to me, to us, and to my friends—and for the threat they pose to our children." Michonne cupped his face in her hands and said, "Alright, I'm with you on this. But first, what are we going to do with her?" Rick replied, "She was laughing when she said my children would die, and my friends died in a gruesome way. So, I'm going to make her die in an even more gruesome way." Michonne raised an eyebrow and said, "I like the sound of that. But how?" He answered her, "I have an idea. Help me get her out of here."

Jadis woke up to find Michonne standing alone in front of her. She tried to move, but she couldn't; she was tied to a large tree, and Michonne was wearing her CRM uniform. Jadis said, "What the hell are you trying to do? Let me go! Untie these ropes!" She didn't have much strength left. Her wounds had drained her energy, and she had grown exhausted from losing so much blood. Michonne was staring at her with a cunning look when Jadis asked, "Your lover’s idea, I assume? But this will never work." Michonne told her, "Just wait and see." Rick returned, running, and said to Michonne, "We have to get out of here. They are only feet away." Jadis asked, "Who?" He told her, "Your new friends.

Jadis screamed, "What the hell are you saying? Untie me and we can reach a deal!" Rick and Michonne said at the same time, "You're too late." She screamed again, "I'll tell you where the file is! Just untie me!" Michonne said, "Really? Tell us then." Jadis replied, "Untie me first." Rick said, "Don't waste our time. They are close." The hissing sound of the walking dead and their footsteps were drawing closer and closer. Michonne said, "Fine, your loss then." Michonne turned to leave, but Jadis's voice stopped them. Jadis told them the exact location of the file in her room. After she gave them the detailed location, she said, "Help me then!" Michonne replied, "Really? After everything you've done, did you think we were going to save you? This is the end, Anne.

Rick and Michonne stepped back a little from the area. Jadis was screaming at the top of her lungs until one of the zombies lunged at her throat, and another pack gathered around, tearing her apart. Rick and Michonne sighed at the exact same time. She said, "That was brutal, but she deserved it." Rick looked at her and said, "Now, it's time for the ultimate revenge."

Chapter 13

After both Rick and Nick returned to the shelter, having ensured the perimeter was safe, the four of them sat on the ground, waiting for the food to be ready. The two strangers talked about how it all started for them and how they had ended up there. Michonne listened intently, while Rick went to check on the food, returning with two tin cans in his hands. He set them down on the ground; Michonne picked one up and offered to share it with Rick, and the other two did the same.

Before they began eating, Martha asked, "This mushroom... are you sure it’s not poisonous?" Michonne stopped eating, looking at Rick, who replied, "I grew up on a farm. I know a poisonous mushroom from a safe one." Michonne breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Oh, you terrified me, because I’ve already eaten a little bit of it." Everyone laughed and continued eating. Not even five minutes had passed before Nick and Martha began feeling an unbearable pain in their stomachs. Michonne jumped up, trying to see what was wrong with them, but Rick stopped her and told her it was the mushrooms—they were poisoned. Michonne turned to him and said, "What? Then we are also..." Rick interrupted her and said, "No, we didn't eat the poisoned mushrooms." Rick stepped past Michonne and walked toward the two who were on the brink of death. He pulled a weapon from Nick's waist and killed them both. Michonne was shocked by what he did. He grabbed her hand and told her that they were on their way, and that they had to run. She didn't understand anything, but she followed him.

Both Rick and Michonne ran through the forest, encountering a few walkers along the way and killing them. They didn't stop until morning broke. They had distanced themselves significantly from their initial campsite. Taking a deep breath, they sat down to rest for a moment. Michonne said, "You owe me an explanation." He replied, "They were with them." Michonne interrupted him, "The CRM?" He nodded and said, "When he and I were scouting the forest to clear any danger, I suggested we split up. Then I followed him because I didn't feel comfortable. I heard him talking to someone, and he had already sent the location coordinates. I was going to kill him at that exact moment, but I changed the plan. Luckily, I found the mushrooms." Michonne interrupted him again, "This part is the strangest. How did they get poisoned while we didn't, even though we ate from the same mushrooms?" Rick said to her, "Who said we ate from the same mushrooms? It was a different mushroom. I found a poisonous type, and also the edible one." Michonne nudged Rick’s hand and said, "Why didn't you tell me or at least give me a hint?" He told her, "I needed a realistic reaction." Michonne smiled at him, punched his arm, and added seriously, "So they are on their way... Beale and the others?" He answered her, "Not Beale. I have a feeling it’s Jadis.

Michonne said angrily, "That miserable bitch. I truly hope she doesn't come, because I want to kill her myself." Rick took Michonne’s hand, kissed it, and said, "Me too, but for now, we hide." Michonne said to him, "Instead of hiding, what do you think?" She pulled a walkie-talkie out of her pocket. "Let's send them our current coordinates and set an ambush for them. What do you say?" He said to her, "I love the idea, but no. I don't want to risk losing you." Michonne raised an eyebrow, and looking into her eyes, he continued, "Yes. I lived for so many years as a body without a soul until I saw you again. I won't be able to go on without you." Tears welled up in Michonne's eyes, and she said, "Alright then, let's move."

The two of them walked great distances, taking occasional breaks to rest, until they reached an abandoned house. They scouted the place and found four zombies wandering inside; they disposed of them and threw the bodies outside. Inside, there were tightly sealed beverage bottles and some noodles packed in large bags. The two inferred that a conflict had broken out among the turned individuals, leading them to kill each other. With a smile, Rick said to her, "This will last us for a while." Michonne replied, "Yeah," and pointing to a beverage bottle, she added, "and I really needed this

Rick and Michonne ate the noodles and drank the beverage, but moderately, ensuring they remained sharp and alert. Rick stood up from his chair and walked over to Michonne. He took her hand and began to move as if they were dancing. "What are you doing?" she asked him. He replied with absolute calmness, "Dancing with my girl." Michonne smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck, while he wrapped his hands around her waist. They danced without music like two fools. She said to him, "I never thought I’d dance without music. You really are crazy." He replied, "And who do you think is the cause?" Michonne shrugged her shoulders, implying she didn't know. Rick pulled her even closer to him and said, "You know." She said to him, "No, I don't know. You tell me," as they swayed together. He said, "It's you. I don't know how deeply I’ve fallen in love with you, or how crazy I’ve become because of you. And I don't want to know. I love things exactly the way they are right now." Michonne cut him off with a gentle kiss and said, "I feel exactly the same way." Rick lifted her up, and she wrapped her legs around his waist while he held her thighs. He walked toward the small, dilapidated bed, laying her down and leaning over her as they kissed passionately. Rick stopped suddenly. Michonne asked him, "What's wrong?" He kept staring at her, and finally spoke: "When we get back home, I want to make a little Michonne.

Chapter 12

Rick and Michonne remained in the room, sitting on the sofa locked in each other's arms. Michonne began telling him everything their children had been through, sharing the beautiful moments she had experienced with RJ, Judith, and Carl, adding how deeply she had missed them. Rick jokingly said, "I just hope we don't find ourselves as grandparents when we go back. Like you said, Carl and Enid were together before I disappeared." Michonne laughed, replying that she wouldn’t rule it out at all. They kept talking and sharing stories until sleep finally overcame them.

Michonne was awakened by a sound outside, and so was Rick. Michonne grabbed the nearest object she could use as a weapon, and they both crept toward the peephole to see what was out there. But there was nothing. Even the walkers that had been roaming around were gone. Rick and Michonne exchanged glances, realizing it was the perfect time to leave. They geared up thoroughly, taking anything that could serve as a weapon. They opened the door quietly and headed toward the main exit.It was a bit strange; the walkers weren't as numerous as before—only a few remained."This is weird, isn't it?" Michonne whispered. "Why is the number of walkers alarmingly low?""Do you want them to be everywhere, or what?" Rick replied teasingly.Michonne shot him a serious look. When she realized he was just joking, she said, "Really, Rick? Haven't you noticed how strange this is?""I know, you're right," Rick answered. "But it plays to our advantage, doesn't it?"Michonne conceded, and they kept moving forward, taking down two walkers along the way. Rick took Michonne’s hand and led her toward a yellow Jeep. The car was already unlocked. When they got inside, they found enough fuel to take them all the way back to Alexandria. Overjoyed, they shared a kiss before Rick started the engine. They drove along the road, casually talking and sharing stories.

Rick stopped driving when he noticed several small squirrels. He got out of the car and crept toward them slowly. Michonne did the same once she realized why Rick had pulled over. They moved with extreme caution and utter silence until Rick managed to catch one, and Michonne caught another, while the rest scurried away. They returned to the car with the dead squirrels. This time, Michonne took the wheel.They drove until they found a spot deep inside the woods, where they parked the car and got out. They started a fire and placed the squirrels over it, then split up to scout the area. There were only a few walkers around, which they quickly dispatched before heading back.Sitting by the fire, waiting impatiently for the squirrels to cook, Michonne muttered, "Squirrels..." She burst into laughter and added, "These squirrels remind me of Daryl. Remember? Back then, I started hearing that he was obsessed with hunting squirrels, and he hated it when anyone touched them without his permission."Rick laughed too, and they spent some time reminiscing and joking about Daryl and his squirrels. After a while, the food was ready. Each took a squirrel, and they ate.

Darkness fell, so they put out the fire and got into the car, where they slept until the next morning. Rick woke up to the sound of screaming and someone calling his name. Terrified, he opened his eyes and turned around, only to find that Michonne was not beside him. The voice calling his name grew louder, until he realized it was Michonne's voice. He dashed out of the car, shouting her name and running in all directions like a madman. He stopped to pinpoint the source of the sound; Michonne's screams were agonizing, as if she were being tortured. He rushed toward the sound and found Michonne completely covered in blood, bound, with Beale standing beside her, holding her by her hair. Jadis looked at him and said, "This is your punishment for not listening to me, Rick Grimes.

Suddenly, Rick began hearing Michonne's calm voice calling his name. He jolted awake, terrified. Michonne kept trying to soothe him, and as he regained full consciousness, he pulled her into a hug so tight that she began to complain about the sheer force of it. He pulled back slightly."Was it a bad nightmare?" she asked. "I was trying to wake you up, but you wouldn’t respond."She opened a water bottle she had found in the trunk, splashed a little water on him, and handed it over for him to drink. Rick stepped out of the car, trying desperately to shake off the horrific imagery of his dream. Michonne followed him out, fighting her immense curiosity and choosing not to press him for answers.Rick stood outside, taking a deep breath, with Michonne standing right by his side. Time passed, and once Rick had finally calmed down, Michonne said to him, "I don't want to pry or remind you of whatever you saw in your nightmare, but don't let it get to you. We..." Michonne cupped Rick's face, forcing their eyes to meet, and gently pressed her forehead against his. Rick looked at her and murmured, "Yeah, I know."

He added, "Let's go then." Michonne chose to drive because she didn't like the state Rick was in. Throughout the entire drive, they were enveloped in silence; Rick didn't utter a single word. His mind was entirely consumed by the horrific nightmare, and thoughts of returning to the organization began creeping back into his head. The heavy silence was suddenly shattered by the sound of Michonne swearing as a deer darted across the road. The car swerved violently and crashed into a tree. Fortunately, neither of them was hurt, but from here on out, they would have to continue their journey on foot.

They continued their journey on foot through the woods, taking down a few walkers they encountered along the way. Suddenly, they heard screams and desperate cries for help. Rushing toward the sound, they found a man and a woman surrounded by seven walkers. They stepped in, helped them eliminate the threats, and were quickly thanked by the couple. Rick and Michonne immediately set off again on their way, but they were forced to halt when they heard footsteps trailing behind them.When they turned around, the footsteps stopped."We know someone is there," Michonne called out. "Show yourselves."A moment later, the man and woman they had just saved emerged from the shadows. They begged to tag along. Initially, Rick and Michonne refused, but Michonne eventually agreed, imposing strict conditions. The first rule was that they were not to ask who Rick and Michonne were or where they were heading, followed by a few other stipulations. Without a single word of hesitation, the couple agreed to the terms, and they all continued their journey together.

Darkness fell, and they came across a doorless, mostly dilapidated cabin, but they decided to camp there for the night. Stepping inside, they found scattered mattresses and bedding. Michonne began tidying them up with the help of Martha—which was the woman's name, while her husband was called Nick. The two women worked together until they arranged decent places to sit. As for Rick and Nick, they spent the time clearing and securing the perimeter. Fortunately, the two strangers possessed weapons that could prove useful to the group.Rick walked up to Nick, pointing in two different directions. "I'll take the right, and you head to the other side," Rick instructed. "Make sure you don't leave anyone behind. I don't want any mistakes." Nick nodded and headed left. He kept walking until he was sure he had distanced himself significantly from Rick. He then pulled out a walkie-talkie-like device and sent a message, saying, "We found them. I've sent the location coordinates."

Chapter 11

Michonne paced back and forth across the room, realizing that Rick had no intention of changing his mind. "I can't believe this," she muttered, desperately trying to keep her voice down so as not to attract the walkers. Meanwhile, Rick kept staring at the CRM device, seriously contemplating pressing it. He didn't even look up until Michonne snatched the device from his hands. This startled Rick, who watched as Michonne tried to smash the device with her bare hands, careful not to make any sound. Rick stepped toward her and tried to grab it back after asking for it, but she refused. In the struggle to pull it away, the device dropped to the floor, and Rick accidentally stepped on it, crushing it completely.

Their eyes met, then shifted down to the broken device on the floor. "Good," Rick said. "That’s what you wanted, isn’t it? Now, who's going to come and get us out of here?"She looked at him and said, "We will get out on our own. We’ve faced far more dangerous things. Together, we can, Rick..." Before she could finish her sentence, gunshots rang out. They instantly dropped to the ground in a defensive position, scrambling behind the sofa. They sat in absolute silence until the gunfire and the screams of someone outside finally faded away. They remained tense in that position until exhaustion took over, and they inadvertently fell asleep.Michonne woke up before Rick as the early morning light began to break. She woke him up and whispered that it was completely quiet outside. They stood up and cautiously headed toward the door to check if the path was clear—and it was. There wasn't a single sound from any walkers.Then, Rick heard Michonne calling his name. She was standing in front of a large window. He walked over to her and followed her gaze outside. Their helicopter was completely destroyed. Rick stared at the wreckage, realizing that if they had stayed behind like he wanted—waiting for the pilot to fix it or regain control—they would both be dead right now.

Michonne said to him, "Now, there's no reason to go back. We are dead in their eyes, aren't we?" Rick remained silent. Michonne called his name, snapping him out of his daze. "Aren't we?"Rick looked at her and said, "No. No, you are going back home... I am going back to the CRM."Michonne stood frozen in silence for a moment, closing her eyes in an attempt to process what he had just said, but she had finally had enough. She looked at him and said, "Fine! Go to the place where you belong. I can't believe this. After all of this... after I told you about our son, and we finally managed to survive and escape from them. We have a perfect excuse now—everyone will think we are dead.

After all of this, you still want to go back to them, don't you?" She asked. Rick stepped closer, trying to explain his position, but Michonne shoved him away and said, "Don't touch me." She turned around and found a large knife and a wooden staff. Walking toward the door, she paused for a brief moment, hoping deep down that he would stop her so they could leave together. But it was no use. She opened the door and walked out, leaving him behind. Rick remained in the room as a heavy silence filled the air. Michonne’s words felt like a slap to the face, snapping him out of his delusions. He was breathing heavily, as if the oxygen had been completely sucked out of the room. Determined, Rick stepped toward the door, threw it open, and set off to find Michonne before she could get any further away.Meanwhile, Michonne was fighting off a few walkers, killing them with ease. She was furious, taking all her anger out on them. Just as she finished off the group, she heard hurried footsteps rushing toward her. She spun around instantly, knife in hand. If Rick hadn’t caught her arm in time, he would have been a dead man. Michonne was shocked to see him, and her grip softened.Rick stared at her, a smirk forming on his face. "Oh... I was about to die. Are you that mad at me?"Michonne replied, "If I wanted to get rid of you, I would have done it back in that room."They exchanged a brief smile until a massive explosion shook the entire building. Rick instinctively dove on top of Michonne to shield her, holding her close until everything finally settled down. Rick stood up and helped Michonne to her feet. They hurried toward the outer gate, only to find it swarming with walkers. They had no weapons left—even Michonne’s knife had slipped from her hand during the explosion.

They had no choice but to hide in another room until things settled down, and that’s exactly what they did. They slipped into a nearby room, shut the door, and shoved a sofa against it.Once they caught their breath, Michonne looked at him and said, "It was them... that helicopter belonged to that organization."Rick nodded, breathing heavily. "Yeah. They do that to erase any trace of their existence.""Bastards," Michonne muttered. "But on the bright side, this works in our favor. We are dead to them now. We can finally go home."Rick stepped closer to her, his voice strained. "Yeah... we will. I can't believe I was such a fool to let you walk out of that door alone."Michonne walked up to him, her expression softening. "It's okay. What matters is that you came." She smiled faintly and added, "Better late than never.

Rick cut her words off with a kiss, and Michonne kissed him back. They shared a passionate, deep kiss. Rick lifted Michonne as she wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling her even closer to him as they headed toward the bed. Rick climbed over her, and they took off their clothes, making love in complete tranquility.After they were done, they lay there naked, a bedsheet covering most of their bodies. Rick held Michonne from behind, kissing her back and shoulders. "I missed you so much," he whispered. "So, so much." Michonne held his hands, which were wrapped around her waist, and replied, "I missed you too."Suddenly, Michonne startled out of bed, giving a fright to Rick, who anxiously asked why she had jumped up so suddenly. She walked over to the bag she had been carrying, took something out, and came back to him. She sat down close to him as Rick adjusted his position, wondering what was happening."I did this a while ago," she said, "but I never had the chance to give it to you."Rick wondered to himself what she was talking about, but he was completely taken aback when she handed him a phone with an image of a young boy etched onto it.

Michonne placed the phone in Rick’s hand, her eyes welling with tears. "This is our son, RJ," she whispered. "When I was out there, I met a Japanese man who etches drawings onto phones. I asked him to engrave a picture of our son." She then pulled out another phone, this one etched with portraits of Judith and Carl.She looked at Rick, who was already crying, completely overwhelmed with emotion. "Our kids..." Rick stammered, a bittersweet laugh breaking through his tears. "They've grown so much." Choking on his tears, he added, "I missed them... I was almost forgetting what they looked like. Thank you, Michonne. Thank you."He leaned in and wrapped his arms around her tightly, and she held him just as close. When they finally broke the embrace, Rick looked down at the etched phones again, a profound happiness washing over him. He looked at Michonne and said, "I can't wait to see our kids again... after all this time.

Chapter 10

In the previous chapter, Michonne had thrown herself and Rick out of the helicopter, which was struggling due to severe weather

As Michonne plunged with Rick into the raging sea, they faced a brutal struggle against the storm-driven waves. Fighting to reach the shore, Michonne cursed herself; her reckless leap had completely ignored the fury of the storm. They were left battling the towering swells, which, by a stroke of luck, began pushing them toward land. In the blinding darkness, they miraculously survived. Clambering out of the sea exhausted, they collapsed onto the wet sand, panting and catching their breath. As they finally stabilized, silence hung between them, broken only by Rick's stunned stares at Michonne. Once they recovered, they spotted a massive building nearby. Standing up simultaneously, their eyes locked, reaching a silent understanding. Together, they headed toward the structure, only to find several walkers blocking their path.

A sizable herd of walkers lunged toward them, forcing them into a fight. Exhausted and completely unarmed, cutting through them seemed impossible. Fortunately, inside a parked car with its doors wide open, they spotted an iron rod. Rick grabbed it, and they pushed forward toward the building. Michonne shoved the walkers to the ground while Rick drove the iron rod through their skulls. Once inside, they encountered only a few more, whom they quickly dispatched before slipping into a room. The moment they stepped inside, they were startled; the room was spotlessly clean, but it was the strange, creaking sound echoing through the house that truly unnerved Rick.

After catching their breath, Rick finally spoke. He approached Michonne as she searched the room. Turning toward his voice, she heard him say, "I can't believe you did that." Knowing exactly what he meant, she replied, "We needed a timeout, and you needed to clear your head." Moving even closer, his voice rising, he said, "I am doing this for us, for our kids, for our friends, Michonne! I don't understand why you're still fighting me on this." Michonne reached out, offering her hand to him. Rick desperately wanted to take it, but he hesitated and pulled back. Her eyes filling with obvious sorrow, Michonne let her hand drop. She stepped back, turned toward the adjoining bedroom, and opened a wardrobe inside, finding some clothes. As Michonne began to change out of her wet clothes, Rick sat in silence for a moment before standing up and heading into the room after her.

While Michonne was in her underwear, she felt Rick’s eyes on her. She turned around to find him staring, swallowing hard at the sight of her nearly naked before him. He tried to look away after she turned, but he couldn't. Stepping closer, he gently touched an X-shaped scar on her back. Tracing it with his hand, his voice dropped to a low, fragile whisper as he asked about it. She replied that it happened a long time ago, when a woman she once knew snuck into Alexandria and kidnapped Judith and the other children. With a painful smile, Michonne added, "I was eight months pregnant with Rick Junior." Rick asked if she killed her, and she whispered, "Yes." "Good," he murmured. Seizing the moment, Rick wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a tight embrace from behind.

Michonne closed her eyes, feeling his hands tracing every inch of her body. He began kissing the back of her neck, whispering, "I missed you so much." Stepping back for a brief moment, he shed his suit and clothes down to his underwear. Moving closer again, he turned her around to face him. He gently brushed the stray locks of hair away from her face, leaning in to plant a soft, lingering kiss on her lips, then pulled back slightly to gauge her reaction. Seeing that she wanted him just as much, he pressed his lips against hers, kissing her passionately. Neither of them thought of pulling away until they desperately needed air. Rick lifted her into his arms, Michonne wrapping her legs around his waist as they gazed into each other's eyes. He carried her over to the bed, gently laying her down before climbing over her. He showered her entire body with kisses before returning to her lips.Rick stripped away her remaining underwear while kissing her, then discarded his own, as they surrendered completely to each other.

Michonne woke to the sensation of Rick kissing her shoulders, gently pulling her closer. A smile played on her lips as she thought about what they had shared; it had been far too long. She turned to face him, planting a brief kiss on his lips. Rick looked at her with pure satisfaction and pleasure. "Yeah, you’ve still got it," she smiled playfully. She began to get up to put her clothes on, but Rick pulled her back, whispering for her to stay just like that for a little while longer. She readily gave in, sinking back into his embrace. After a few more rounds to make up for all the lost time, they were suddenly startled by the sound of walkers outside. Jumping up quickly, they scrambled into their clothes and rushed to the door. Peering through the small peephole, Rick saw a crowd of walkers gathering, or more precisely, heading toward the far end of the hallway. They locked eyes. Michonne nodded toward the door, silently asking what was happening out there, but Rick just shrugged, showing he had no idea.

They stepped back from the door and headed toward the room. There, Rick spotted Michonne's CRM device, remembering that he had lost his own in the sea. Michonne followed him, and as she saw him picking up the device, she instantly knew what he was about to do. "Really?" she asked, glaring at him. "After everything that just happened, I thought we were finally past this."

Both Jadis and Rick froze in utter shock; neither had anticipated her stealthy approach. Jadis shot a panicked, wide-eyed look at Rick, silently begging him to intervene before this rogue soldier triggered a domino effect that would destroy everyone they cared about. Rick lunged forward, grabbing the iron rod to halt Michonne's deadly grip. He locked eyes with his furious wife, his expression a desperate plea for her to stand down. Michonne hesitated for a tense, breathless second, her knuckles white, before finally lowering the weapon. Jadis took a step back, massaging her neck as she faced them both. "Oh... so she was this close to breaking our little deal," Jadis muttered with a twisted smile, before turning on her heel and slipping away, leaving the lovers alone.

Rick opened his mouth to berate Michonne for her recklessness, but she cut him off instantly. "What the hell is this 'deal' anyway?! Talk to me, Rick!" Her voice rose, thick with betrayal, before the realization hit her. "Are you trying to smuggle me out of here alone again?!" Rick quickly clamped his hand over her mouth, pleading with his eyes for her to lower her voice. Infuriated, Michonne shoved him away with all her strength, turning her back on him and marching off into the dark. Rick made a move to pursue her, but forced his boots to a halt. They had already drawn far too much attention to themselves for one night.

Michonne went back to her assigned duties, while Rick was officially summoned by Thorne. Rick cursed under his breath; he was utterly furious with Thorne's constant, probing insinuations. He marched toward her, finding her standing with a small group of soldiers. The moment he arrived, Thorne dismissed the squad, leaving the two of them face-to-face in the dim light. Thorne didn't waste any time. "I’m going to be completely blunt and get straight to the point," she said, her eyes drilling into him. "Are you involved with her?" Rick stumbled for a fraction of a second, a flicker of panic washing over him before he masked it with anger. "I don't think that's any of your business. My relationships and my private life have nothing to do with you." Thorne cut him off, her voice dropping into a cold, military steel. "If your relationships cause problems on my missions, then yes, they damn well become my business." Rick’s rage boiled over. "She was just helping! Damn your ego, Thorne—you know as well as I do that if she hadn't stepped in, the entire operation would have been a catastrophic failure.

Thorne’s voice grew even sharper, cutting through the tense air. "I'm talking to Okafor. I'm getting her reassigned and removed from this unit," she barked. Without giving him a chance to respond, she abruptly cut off the conversation, turned her back on him, and marched toward the rest of the squad, who were already preparing for immediate takeoff

Thorne was so furious with Rick that she refused to even board the same helicopter as him, opting for the second chopper instead. This left Rick and Michonne alone in the back of their aircraft, with only the pilot in front. They were flying at a dangerously low altitude due to a massive, violent storm that had suddenly engulfed them. Lightning cracked and thunder roared with such raw power that the entire fuselage vibrated, drenched in sheets of heavy, blinding rain. Rick and Michonne locked eyes, staring at each other in a heavy silence, their expressions a bitter mix of anger and unspoken resentment.The tense standoff was shattered by the pilot's panicked voice over the comms, shouting that the storm had caused a critical system failure. Rick and Michonne gripped their seats as the helicopter violently plunged toward the earth. Michonne shot a glance through the window at the raging ocean churning beneath them, then snapped her head back toward Rick. He saw the fierce calculation in her eyes and knew exactly what she was about to do. Michonne unbuckled her safety harness, reached over to release Rick's, and threw both herself and him out of the open bay door, plunging into the abyss below.

The morning air is biting cold. Michonne arrives early, a quick shower still lingering as damp heat against the chill. She holds a small ration of food, but her focus is elsewhere. She paces the clearing, entirely consumed by her thoughts, meticulously planning how to escape with Rick. She has been walking back and forth for nearly fifteen minutes.

A familiar voice cuts through her thoughts. She turns her head and their eyes lock. Rick steps forward, closing the distance—way closer than he should.

Instinct takes over. Michonne takes a sharp step back. "Someone will notice. You are the one who said that."

Rick freezes in his tracks. "I know. It was an involuntary reaction. My body just moved toward you, completely ignoring the alarms going off in my head."

A faint smile tugs at the corner of Michonne's lips. She knows he is just trying to shield her from his dark mood this morning, and she appreciates it. Yet, she can feel his anxiety; she knows exactly what is running through his mind despite the smile he uses to hide it.

This time, Michonne steps closer to him. "Don't worry. And don't forget who I am."

Rick fights the urge to speak, struggling to swallow down the raw truth of his internal panic. He wants to tell her he is terrified of losing her. I won't survive it this time. Not after finding you again.

He remembers Thorne’s warning: if the new girl tries anything outside the rules, she will stop her.

Michonne breaks his train of thought. "You won't let her do that. I know that for a fact.

Rick wanted to say something, but a voice suddenly cut them off. He turned around to find Thorne standing there, flanked by a few soldiers. She stepped toward them, her eyes darting suspiciously between Rick and Michonne. "Oh, you're early," Thorne said, her voice dripping with underlying tension. "And here I thought I’d be the first to arrive." Rick quickly intervened. "Olivia was the first one here." Thorne locked her gaze onto Michonne, a cold smirk playing on her lips. "So, are you ready for your first mission, rookie?" Michonne rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm ready. But where is my weapon?" Before Rick could speak up, Thorne cut in. "You'll be using a metal rod for now. Now, let’s move. Three more men are joining us, just in case of any emergencies." Rick and Michonne nodded, and the group headed toward the helicopters.

Rick, Michonne, Thorne, and the pilot boarded the first chopper, while the tactical team took the second. The two helicopters took off, soaring into the morning sky. As they flew, Michonne stared out at the vast ocean stretching beneath them. She drowned in her thoughts: What if I open this door right now, and throw myself and Rick into the water? We would survive, definitely. But in broad daylight, they’d hunt us down in no time.

The train of her thoughts was suddenly shattered by Thorne’s voice. "Olivia, what do you think of Okafor?" Michonne lifted her eyes, remaining silent for a long beat before answering coldly, "He’s a good leader." She said it with pure indifference; she never liked Okafor. Even though his actions suggested he was a decent man, her gut told her to never lower her guard around him. Thorne leaned in closer. "No, I don't mean it from that perspective. I mean as a man." Michonne’s expression became a calculated mix of blankness and caution. "I don't follow," she lied. She knew exactly what Thorne was hinting at, but she chose to play dumb. "Frankly, I don't even care." Thorne adjusted her seat, shifting even closer to Michonne. Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. "Keep this between us... but I think Okafor is into you."

All of this was happening right under the eyes of Rick, who could barely believe what he was hearing ، Rick stared at Thorne, processing words he would have never believed had they come from anyone else. He clenched his jaw with agonizing force, fighting to trap his rage behind his teeth. Taking a slow, deep breath, he exhaled heavily and abruptly cut her off. "I don't think now is the time to talk about this nonsense. Let's focus on the operation, alright?" He spat the words with deep, undeniable irritation. Michonne immediately backed him up, her voice equally sharp. "He’s right. I don’t want to indulge in this garbage either." The rest of the flight passed in tense silence, save for a few foolish pieces of advice from Thorne, who repeatedly urged Michonne to just stay in the background and remain a mere spectator.

They finally arrived at the operation site. Once everyone gathered, Thorne paced back and forth, barked instructions at every single individual, including Rick and Olivia (Michonne). She pointedly emphasized, time and again, that Michonne must remain strictly in the observation zone and never, under any circumstances, interfere.

The mission began. Everyone started executing orders, splitting into smaller groups to clear out the walkers. Michonne wanted to jump in and help, especially when she saw Thorne struggling to move the heavy explosive charge. She stepped forward, but Thorne sharply warned her off. Still, Michonne stayed on high alert, watching Thorne desperately trying to free the device to no avail. Suddenly, a swarm of walkers swarmed Thorne, forcing her to abandon the bomb to fight them off.

Michonne didn't hesitate. She lunged forward and grabbed the heavy charge. "This thing isn't even that heavy," she muttered under her breath, straining as she forced it forward. She heard Thorne screaming her name in the distance, but she completely ignored her, pushing with even greater force.

Suddenly, the crushing weight grew lighter. Without even turning her head, Michonne knew exactly who had stepped in to help her. Together, they shoved the bomb into its designated drop point. Rick slammed the countdown trigger, grabbed Michonne’s hand, and they sprinted toward a massive tree, diving for cover.

Seconds later, a massive explosion rocked the area. Rick wrapped his arms tightly around her, shielding her from the flying debris and shockwaves. Once the chaos settled, Michonne lifted her eyes to meet Rick's. They locked eyes for a breathless second. Rick lowered his head and captured her lips in a deep kiss, nearly losing his absolute grip on control as he pulled her closer, pressing their bodies together.

He broke away suddenly, panting heavily. Michonne smiled playfully. "Looks like you don't have much stamina left for kissing. You're catching your breath after just a short one."

Rick glared at her, thoroughly annoyed, but a smirk broke through his frustration. "If I weren't terrified of us getting caught right now, I'd show you exactly who lacks stamina." He was leaning back in to steal another kiss when Thorne’s voice shattered the moment, shouting their names.

They both pulled apart, scrambling to their feet to rejoin the battle. Rick and Michonne jumped back into the fray, helping the rest of the squad eliminate the remaining walkers. Michonne moved with an casi-supernatural grace, slicing through the undead one after another, completely oblivious to Thorne’s piercing eyes tracking her every move. Once the area was finally cleared, Thorne marched straight up to her, screaming in her face, demanding to know why she hadn't complied with direct orders. Noting that Michonne was on the absolute verge of snapping, Rick quickly stepped in. "She was only trying to help," he intervened. "And I was part of it too. Besides, there's no need for all this drama." Thorne locked her gaze on Rick. She told him that the moment they reached the nearby outpost, she wanted a word with him. Rick nodded. Without another word, Thorne turned on her heel and headed toward the chopper, leading the way to their camp.

The flight was entirely silent the whole way back; not a single word was spoken. By the time they arrived at the outpost, night had already fallen. Thorne ordered everyone to help around the camp, her tone laced with a sharp, lingering anger. A few paces away, Rick was hauling crates of weapons when a voice cut through the darkness: "So, you're still here." Rick rolled his eyes, looking with pure disgust at Jadis, who stood before him with that stupid, smug expression on her face. "She's leaving, alright? I just need some time," Rick snapped. Jadis stepped closer, her hand sliding up to touch his chest. "You know, I’ve been wondering all this time we’ve spent here... all those talks we had," she murmured. Rick instantly flinched away, breaking her touch. "And remember, I’m the one who saved you." Rick immediately caught on to what she was trying to imply. He looked her dead in the eye and said, "All I see standing in front of me is a woman with a stupid haircut who ruined my life."

Jadis’s mood shifted instantly, her expression hardening into a threat. "Just don’t forget," she hissed at Rick. "The moment you even attempt to escape, it will destroy our mutual friends. But as you know, I wouldn’t care even if one of them died. Just keep that in your head." Rick stood frozen, glaring at her with absolute, murderous intensity. Jadis scoffed, looking at his clenched fists. "You want to kill me, don't you? I can see it right there." Rick stepped closer, his voice dropping into a dangerous whisper. "I want to more than you can possibly imagine. But I can't. For the sake of those I love, I will do the impossible." Jadis flashed him a smug smile. "Smart. Because just in case you ever did try to kill me, she knows the consequences. Where is she, anyway? She hasn’t seen me yet, has she?

The next morning, Rick hauled himself out of bed, his eyes bloodshot and heavy from a sleepless night. He dragged himself to the bathroom, letting the water wash over him. Stepping out into the compound, he headed straight to work, his appetite completely gone. Along the way, he prayed with every fiber of his being that Michonne was safe, that she was already making her way back to their children. For a fleeting second, he stopped in his tracks, pressing a hand against his chest as he closed his eyes. A part of him wished he had run away with her, but he knew the fallout would have destroyed everything they built. He swallowed the regret and kept walking.

When he reached the training grounds, his heart dropped. He froze, cursing under his breath. What the hell was she doing here?

There she was. Michonne. Right in front of him, effortlessly taking down five men and two women, the spectators cheering each time she dropped an opponent. As the crowd applauded, she snapped her head up. Their eyes locked. She held his gaze for a heavy, agonizing beat before coldly turning her head away.

Rick marched toward them, a volatile mix of fury and caution fueling his steps. As he approached, the crowd dispersed, sensing the tension. Michonne turned her back on him, gripping an iron training staff and striking the air in a solitary, aggressive rhythm. Rick grabbed a staff of his own and closed the distance.

Sensing his stare, she whipped around. The moment she saw the weapon in his hands, she lunged. She attacked with a fierce, punishing momentum. Rick blocked her strikes, absorbing the impact; he knew she was furious, but his own anger was boiling just beneath the surface. He countered her blows, holding back enough to not hurt her. He desperately wanted to scream, 'What the hell are you doing back here?'—but the words choked in his throat.

Five minutes of brutal, silent clashing passed. Suddenly, she stopped mid-swing. Their eyes met again, chests heaving. She took a deep, shaky breath, exhaling the tension as she straightened her posture, standing before him like a soldier reporting to her commander. In a flat, exhausted tone, she requested the day off, stating she was spent after a night without a wink of sleep."

Rick stared at her in sheer disbelief. A sharp pang of agony pierced his chest; the cold, formal way she addressed him wasn't the Michonne he knew. It was the tone of a stranger. Straightening his posture to match her rigid military stance, he silently granted her request. Without another word, Michonne turned and headed toward the exit. Rick’s eyes anchored to her retreating figure, watching her leave, until a voice he utterly despised shattered the silence.'So, she didn't leave after all,' the voice drawled, seasoned with a smug undertone. 'I figured as much.'In an instant, the sorrow drained from Rick’s face, replaced by a stone-cold, tense mask. He whipped around to face her. When the artist looked up, she saw a young man in his early twenties; there was a haunting familiarity in his face, resembling Glenn to a degree. She offered him a small smile, which he warmly returned.'I know you,' the boy said.Michonne raised an eyebrow, silently questioning how that was possible.'Michonne, right?' he added.She remained guarded, keeping her silence as she stared at him.He continued, 'Rick used to come by here almost every month. He’d ask me to paint portraits of you, and two other kids.''Carl and Judith,' she softly breathed.The boy nodded in confirmation. 'You’re a lot more approachable than he was. The first time I saw him, he was entirely broken... like a ghost walking around without a soul. He hasn't been back in a long time.'Hearing this, a heavy sorrow settled over Michonne. Her heart bled with a fresh wave of agony for what Rick had endured. She took a step closer to the boy, her voice dropping into a steady, intense tone.'I need a favor,' she said." Michonne retreated to her quarters. Sitting in the quiet of her room, she pulled out the salvaged phones. She gazed intently at the screens, studying the glowing images of Carl, Judith, and RJ—each child preserved on a separate device. A quiet resolve settled over her. She knew the screen holding RJ’s face carried a truth that would shatter Rick's world and piece it back together. She slipped the devices away, making a silent promise to give them to Rick when the right moment finally came.

It was getting incredibly late. She had convinced herself that Rick would come to her quarters—that they would finally confront the fallout of his botched escape plan. But he never showed up.The night crawled by without incident, save for the heavy sorrow weighing on Michonne's chest. It stung that he hadn't bothered to explain why he played her. Eventually, exhaustion won, and she drifted into a deep sleep.The following day, and the one after that, followed the exact same agonizing pattern: Rick was actively avoiding her. He’s the one who screwed up, and now he’s pulling this petty silent treatment? Damn it all, she thought, her frustration boiling over. Michonne reached her breaking point; she couldn't stomach it anymore. She was ready to do something reckless.By the next morning, Okafor and Thorne had finally returned to the base. Seizing her chance, Michonne secured clearance and marched directly toward Okafor’s office. She threw the door open, and just as she had anticipated, Rick was already standing inside

Okafor motioned for her to take a seat, a faint, intrigued smile playing on his lips, while Thorne stood rigidly beside him, wearing her usual, unyielding scowl.Okafor nodded toward Michonne, inviting her to speak. 'So?' he prompted.Without beating around the bush, Michonne delivered her ultimatum. 'I want to join the elite forces. And I want to be deployed on field missions.''Absolutely not!' Rick blurted out, the objection escaping his lips before he could stop it.Both Okafor and Thorne instantly snapped their heads toward him. Realizing his blunder, Rick forced his voice into a calmer, more calculated cadence. 'It’s impossible,' he amended quickly. 'She’s still a consignment, a trainee. She’s not ready.

Michonne stood up, locking her eyes onto Okafor. 'I thought you said you were gathering soldiers—building a force capable of actually getting things done.'Okafor rose from his seat, his gaze shifting back and forth between Rick and Michonne, reading the unspoken friction in the room. A slow, calculating nod followed. 'You’re in,' he declared. 'But you deploy with Thorne and Rick.'Michonne shot a fleeting glance at Rick, then at Thorne, before giving a firm nod of agreement. As she turned to leave the office, Okafor’s voice halted her at the threshold, dropping into a low, deadly serious tone. 'Keep your head on a swivel. Word reached me that Beale has his eyes on you.

She opened her mouth to argue, but Rick abruptly cut her off, dismissing her as he turned on his heel and walked away. She stood frozen in the clearing, anchoring her stunned disbelief to his retreating figure.Thorne marched straight back to the base, heading directly for Okafor’s office. She threw the door open, pacing inside with frantic, angry energy. She confronted him without preamble. 'He’s infatuated with her. Completely compromised. Did you notice?'Okafor looked up from his desk, his face a mask of calm, unbothered certainty. 'Yes,' he answered flatly. 'I know far more than you can possibly imagine.'Thorne stared, her frustration peaking. Rick stood frozen in the doorway, glaring at her with pure disgust. As she reached out to touch him, he instantly recoiled."Didn't you miss me?" she asked mockingly. Do it again, and I’ll kill you."She let out a dry, mocking laugh, then pushed past him to step inside. Rick slammed the door shut and turned on his heel to face her, tense and ready. Jadis casually sat down in a chair, pouring herself a drink."So," she said, looking up with a knowing smile. "I assume a lot has happened while I was away, hasn't it?""I don't know what the hell you're talking about," Rick snapped.She rose from her seat, her eyes locking onto his. "Really? You know exactly who I’m talking about, Rick. She told him seriously not to try to escape again because she is here, I know more than anyone else what you can do together, I will certainly not take the risk. Rick cut her off saying she doesn't belong here. She answered him quickly yes she does but since she is here... Rick cut her off saying I will get her out of here, I have a plan and I will stay to ensure that, please just... Rick stared at her and fear began to creep into him. She told him do this if she agrees to go without you.

He told her, she will go, I will talk to her. After they finished their conversation, she headed toward the door. When she opened it, she turned to him and said, do you still want to kill me, Rick? He answered her, even if I wanted to, I can't. She left, leaving Rick drowning in his thoughts. After making sure his door was locked, he returned to the maps he had hidden and began making a plan to smuggle Michonne out.

Time flew by. In the morning, during training, Rick and Michonne were practicing with iron staffs. Rick was watching her with strange looks. Breaking the silence, Michonne said, "Just say it. Before speaking another word, he closed his eyes, sighed, and finally made up his mind to tell her. "In three days, Okafor and Thorne are leaving for a mission. I will make an excuse to go, and that's when we will execute the plan and escape from here. Almost everything is ready." Michonne was both surprised and happy; he had finally decided to escape together. She hugged Rick in response to his words, and he returned the embrace, pulling her close. After a moment, he broke the hug, lifted her onto his lap, and began showering her neck, cheek, and chest with kisses, before settling on her lips. Michonne passionately returned the kiss, making it deeper, as her hands drifted behind Rick's back, then over his chest, moving slightly lower until Rick stopped her, panting from the kiss, saying, "I don't think that's a good idea." She asked, "Why?" He answered, "Because I'm afraid we'll lose control and end up getting caught." Michonne laughed, giving him one last kiss before getting off him to sit by his side, saying, "Yeah, I can hold on a bit longer too. When we get back home..." She gave him a meaningful look with a mischievous smile. Rick looked at her with a mix of happiness and frustration; he had never imagined for a moment that he would be forced to lie to her one day, but he compelled himself to believe it was for her own good.

Rick stayed with Michonne, leaning against her bed as they held each other. He was literally enjoying his last moments with her, even though he knew he could visit her during the remaining three days, but he would be busy finding a corpse that resembled Michonne to disfigure it, while clearing a path for her without any trouble. Michonne woke him from his thoughts, calling his name and asking if he was okay because she was talking to him and he was absent-minded. He tightened his grip on her waist and said, "I'm with you. I was just thinking how lucky I am to have you by my side right now." She replied, "We will be together from now on, don't worry. I promise you, we won't separate anymore." When she noticed that Rick didn't say anything, she stood up and asked him if he was okay. Rick stood up too and said, "Yeah, I'm fine. I just have to go back now before we get caught, as you know." They headed toward the door. Before he opened it, Michonne called out to him, and as he turned to her, she surprised him with a quick kiss and said to him, "Goodnight." Rick smiled at her and left the room.

The days passed quickly, and just as Rick said, Okafor and Thorne went out on a mission, and he stayed behind. At the end of the training session, Rick slipped a piece of paper into her clothes and told her to follow the instructions written there. The two parted ways, each heading in a different direction. Michonne reached her room, and the first thing she did was look at the paper. She found a map of the corridors that would lead her to another location, thinking that this was where she would meet Rick. After memorizing the map perfectly in her mind, she destroyed it completely so that no evidence of her escape would remain.

Michonne got very excited. She prepared herself and packed the food into her bag. She knew it wasn't time yet, as Rick had told her in the note to set off at nightfall, but her excitement consumed her. She didn't leave her room much that day, waiting only for the sun to set so she could depart. Time passed incredibly slowly, so much so that she almost drifted off out of boredom, but she fought it. She went to wash her face, then leaned back on her bed, imagining how her children would react when they saw him. She laughed to herself, thinking that Carl would be shocked in a funny way. She kept thinking about everything and nothing until the time finally came. She left her room and headed toward the path Rick had mapped out. There were a few walkers, but she skillfully avoided them. When she reached a locker, she remembered the key that came with the note and used it to unlock it, finding another message inside. Rick had written: "You are on the right path, my love. I know you can do it, and there is a little gift for you there." Michonne looked up and found her katana. She was thrilled because she had finally gotten it back. She continued her way to the meeting point. Upon arriving, she noticed a small boat covered in weeds. She cleared the weeds away and found some supplies and another note from Rick. Before opening it, she heard heavy footsteps and knew it wasn't him. Stepping forward slightly, she found a lone walker wandering around; she cut its head off instantly, then turned her eyes back to the boat and the note. She opened it, and as she began to read, her eyes welled up with tears. Rick was literally planning to smuggle her out alone by tricking her. A painful, mocking smile crossed her face as she read the final sentence he wrote: "If you truly love me, leave this place.

She was going to burn this place to the ground—a cold revenge for everything Rick had endured, and for every single moment their children had been robbed of their father.The next morning, Michonne woke up early. After a rushed shower, she headed out toward the training grounds Thorne had mentioned.Twelve minutes later, she arrived. The facility was massive, resembling a sprawling indoor arena, already buzzing with a large crowd of recruits deep in their drills. She stood at the edge, scanning the perimeter, when she felt a presence step up beside her. She didn't even need to look to know who it was."What's the plan? Who’s training me?" Michonne asked, keeping her eyes forward."Rick will," Thorne answered, stepping into her line of sight. "We’re giving you our absolute best. We need raw strength, intelligence, and sharp instincts—and Okafor believes you possess all three."Thorne turned and called out behind them. "Grimes!"Michonne turned. Her eyes locked onto Rick, never wavering for a second as he closed the distance between them.Thorne playfully patted Rick on the shoulder. "I just hope you don't get your ass kicked, Grimes," she joked, before walking away.Once Thorne was out of earshot, Michonne glanced at him. "I'll break down the basics for you first," Rick said, raising his voice just enough for nearby ears. "We’ll start with hand-to-hand combat, then move on to specialized weaponry."

"Remember, Mich," Rick cut in, his whisper urgent and tight. "You cannot show them what you're truly capable of. Not yet."

She took a quick shower, washing away the sweat from the grueling training session.Sitting alone, she began to eat. With every bite, her mind raced, plotting. How do we escape? How the hell can I destroy this entire place?Once she finished, she glanced up at the wall clock. It was already 9:00 AM. The training had dragged on for over four hours. She approached cautiously, asking who it was before reaching for the handle. For a fleeting second, she hoped it was Rick. But the moment a firm, authoritative female voice answered, Michonne knew exactly who it was. Telling her to wait a moment, Michonne dressed in a blur of motion and flung the door open.Without a word of greeting, Thorne strode into the room. "Your training begins today," she announced bluntly. "You are expected out there every single day at the crack of dawn. You've already missed this morning's session, so I came to deliver the warning myself. Also, Commander Okafor wants to see you once he clears his schedule."Thorne turned around to leave just as abruptly as she had entered, but Michonne’s voice cut through the silence, freezing her in her tracks. His words mirrored exactly what Rick had told her moments earlier. Once finished, he introduced Thorne, briefly recounting her background before shifting the focus to Rick. Michonne clenched her jaw, fighting every instinct inside her to keep from looking at him You both already know Olivia’s story, don't you? Okafor said, his eyes locking onto Michonne with a meaningful, searching look. She didn't understand the hidden weight behind it. "So, what do you say?"Michonne stared directly into his eyes, her gaze burning with pure defiance. "And what if I refuse to do it?"He replied calmly that she would remain a prisoner, confined within these walls forever. "But if you succeed," he added, "you can go back to your family." I don't have a family," Michonne cut him off sharply."Then make one here," Okafor countered. "But regardless, I strongly advise you to agree. This is for the greater good of countless communities out there I want my sword," Michonne demanded, her voice leaving no room for negotiation. "That is my condition.

Okafor stared at her for a long, calculating moment before finally giving a nod of approval. However, he warned her against using it openly. It was too dangerous; after all, he was the one who classified her as a 'Category C' to protect them all. "Any other questions?" He glanced at Thorne, then at Rick, and finally back to Michonne. "Good. You are dismissed. But remember... everything that happens here, stays here." He locked eyes with her on the final words.

When I finally regained consciousness, I found myself inside a helicopter." He paused for a moment before adding, "Jadis was there."Michonne abruptly stood up, as if her brain was trying to process what she had just heard. "Was it her... all this time?"He nodded slowly. "It was her. She was working for them, trading people for supplies."Michonne clenched her jaw, her voice cold with rage. "Where is she now? I’m going to kill her."Rick placed his hands gently on Michonne’s legs, trying to ground her. "I already tried. I failed." He then continued, "Once I recovered from my injuries, I tried to escape. To get back to you, to Carl, and Judith. But they caught me every single time. The only reason I’m still alive and wasn't executed for trying to run is Okafor—the man who brought you here."Michonne interrupted him sharply, "Yeah, that bastard who dragged me here against my will."Rick shook his head slightly, "They are extremely cautious about anyone who sees them, or even gets close to their perimeter

He looked at her, cupping her face in his hands to bring them closer, eye to eye. "You have no idea," he said. "When Okafor showed me your interview footage from the cameras, I almost completely lost my mind. I couldn't believe it was really you. I was happy and terrified at the same time. It took everything I had to keep myself from breaking down. I couldn't let them know that we knew each other, or they would have gone after our children, our family, and our friends."Rick rested his forehead against hers, and a few tears began to roll down his cheeks. Michonne reached up, wiping away his tears, and said, "Yeah, I know you better than you know yourself, Rick."She kissed his eyes, and he said, "Do you know that when you walked into that office earlier, I was struggling so hard not to step forward, hug you, and kiss you right in front of them? It was so hard."She interrupted him, "You didn't want to take off the mask so I wouldn't see you and blow your cover, right? And to protect the people we love. I know. Besides, I could already feel your eyes piercing right through me." Michonne teased him slightly to lighten the mood, then kissed him again.Rick pulled her closer until she was settled on his lap, facing each other. As he caressed her neck, kissing her here and there, he looked up at her and said, "You’re still so good at that.""At what?" Michonne asked."You already know," he replied, continuing to kiss her. Then he added, "At making all my troubles, my pain, and everything that bothers me completely fade away

"Just what, Michonne? Just tell me. Is there... is there someone else in your life? Did you fall in love with someone else?"Michonne frowned, staring at him in disbelief. "Really, Rick? If I had loved someone else, do you think I’d be standing here right now?"Rick closed his eyes tightly, silently cursing his stupid thoughts. But in his defense, he couldn't help it—Michonne was a beautiful, powerful woman; anyone would fall in love with her.Before he could speak, Michonne interrupted his thoughts. "We have another son, Rick."Rick stared at her, his brain struggling to process the words. "What is it you're trying to say? We have a..." He froze, looking at her intently. "We have a what? Repeat what you just said."Michonne smiled, stepping closer and placing her hand over his heart. "We have another son, Rick." She smiled wider. "And his name is Rick. We call him Rick Junior—RJ. He told her that he would figure out a plan to get her out, but time was running out; the shift of the guard who had disabled the security cameras was about to end.He turned back to her, gave her a quick, parting kiss, and said goodbye. Rick didn't give her a single chance to question him or finish telling him about their children. Within seconds, Michonne heard the heavy door click shut.She let out a long sigh, returning to her spot, her mind consumed by racing thoughts. "Maybe I’m just overthinking," Michonne muttered to herself. "Rick would never just send me away alone." Her jaw clenched as she added, "And even if he tries... I will never let him do that. Not a chance.

Chapter 3

Okafor began introducing the mysterious person while Michonne kept staring at him, until Okafor paused the introduction, placing his hand on their leader's shoulder. Okafor leaned in and whispered something into his ear. Michonne was completely bewildered by the entire situation. After he finished speaking with him, he stood straight, directing his gaze at her once again.Okafor said with a smile that the person standing behind him had just volunteered to be her instructor. "Even though I know you won't need training," Okafor added, "it's just a standard protocol to get you integrated into our ranks quickly." Michonne tried to object, but she stopped herself after remembering that this would undoubtedly help her escape faster. Okafor added that this was all for now, and told her that she could leave. Throughout all of this, Michonne’s eyes kept darting back and forth between that person and Okafor. The moment she heard him say she could leave, she didn't hesitate for a single second; she turned around and walked out immediately.Once she reached the building's outer exit, she turned and took one last look, then turned back to return. She kept wandering around the area for hours, committing it to memory. After eating some french fries and a meat sandwich, she continued her tour until she reached a place with numerous rooms, which Michonne guessed was a storage facility for weapons and military vehicles. Her train of thought was interrupted by a sensation that she was being watched. The exact same shiver. She swore to herself it was that same person. Her heart began to race. Before she could even turn around, she felt someone grab her hand and lead her forcefully to an isolated spot. She tried to resist, but she didn't want to make any mistake that would keep her trapped here.The mysterious person brought her into an alley untouched by the sun. After he released her arm, she took a defensive stance, ready for any reaction he might make. After a few short seconds, that person began removing his mask. The moment their eyes met, tears began to stream down Michonne's face without stopping.

She began to approach him with heavy, trembling steps until she reached him. She placed her hands on his face, examining it as if he weren't real. Finally, she spoke: "Is it really you, Rick? I thought..." She paused for a moment to stifle her sobs. "I'm not hallucinating. Say something, Rick." Michonne hugged him tightly, and Rick did the same. After inhaling her scent, he finally spoke. Michonne tried to break the embrace to look at his face, still unsure if he was real, but Rick stopped her. He tightened his grip on her until Michonne gasped in pain. After breaking the embrace without saying a word, Rick kissed her deeply, as if compensating for all the years he hadn't kissed his beloved. Michonne kissed him back. Then they pulled apart, and he rested his forehead against hers, their noses touching. After they calmed down, they exchanged glances.

Rick broke the silence, asking about his children, Carl and Judith. Michonne replied that they were fine. She hesitated for a moment before noticing the anxiety in Rick's eyes. Before he could say anything, Michonne said, "They are fine, and there is also so much you need to know." Rick nodded his head and pulled her into another kiss, until they were interrupted by the sound of Rick's walkie-talkie. He broke the kiss, frowning. After opening the channel, a voice was heard telling him to return to headquarters because the commander wanted him. Rick said in a single word, "Copy," and cut the line.

After lifting his gaze to her, barely believing she was actually here, he told her that he had to go now, but he would come looking for her, and she would tell him everything that happened in his absence to her and the children. "Our children," he said with a smile. Before leaving, he kissed her once more, then went away. Michonne kept watching him until he disappeared from her sight.

Time passed dreadfully slowly for Michonne after she returned to her room. Yet, she was at the height of her happiness because she had finally found her lover, the father of her children. She sat on the bed, waiting for him with excitement, until she didn't even notice herself falling into a deep sleep. Hours passed before she woke up. She opened her eyes slowly, before sensing that she was not alone in the room. She bolted up from her spot and saw Rick sitting on a chair, watching her.

Michonne placed her hand over her heart and said, "You scared me! How long have you been there?" He replied with a smile, "Mmm, about half an hour." She told him, "Why didn't you wake me up, Rick? Half an hour is a long time." He answered that she was sleeping so deeply, and that he had missed watching her sleep. Michonne said playfully, "Some habits never change, even with the passage of time." Rick smiled at her, moved toward her, and settled down right beside her. "Yes," he said, staring at her and examining her face with just his eyes. "If you only knew how much I missed you all." She replied, "Yes, and we all did too." She wiped away a tear that had escaped, then leaned close to him, planting a kiss on his lips, then moving to his cheeks and forehead. "These were all sent by our children," she smiled, a barely visible smile.

Michonne leaned back on her bed and invited Rick to her side. He responded immediately, taking the same position. She said, "There are so many things I want to tell you. But first, Rick... how did you get here, and who are these people?

Chapter 2

Michonne wakes up in a dimly lit room after fully regaining her consciousness. She remembered everything that happened to her, pieced the clues together, and finally deduced that it was that man named Okafor. Michonne was snapped out of her thoughts by a pain in her injured leg. She took a look at it and found it had already been treated. Michonne stood up and headed toward the door, fighting her pain. Before she could reach it, the door opened. When she raised her head, her eyes met the eyes of the woman who was wearing the same black uniform. The woman remained standing, examining Michonne, before the mysterious woman started her speech, saying: "I am Sergeant Major Thorne. Okafor sent me to see if you need anything." Michonne took a careful look at her and then started the conversation by asking: "Where am I, and why did that person named Okafor bring me here?" She answered her simply and said: "He just saved your life and sent me to check on you because he is busy. The other questions, he will answer them personally, and now I will leave you to rest for a bit

When she turned her head to leave, she stopped suddenly, turned around, and said one last word: 'You better get used to living here quickly.' She walked out and closed the doors behind her, leaving Michonne drowned in her thoughts

She woke up from the daze that followed those words, trying to analyze them. Did that mean she couldn't leave this place? What on earth was this place, and what was all of this? Terror slowly began to creep into her, and thoughts overwhelmed her. The first thing she thought about was her children, whom she had left behind to search for their father. The realization that she had gone out to find him, hadn't found him, and might never return to them terrified her to death. Michonne shook her head to clear the negative thoughts, taking a deep breath to regain her focus. Her immediate thought was to escape from here; a gut feeling was telling her that this place was extremely dangerous. But before doing that, she needed to recover and regain her full strength.Suddenly, her train of thought was interrupted again, but this time by a person wearing a mask whom she couldn't recognize. He went over, placed a food tray and a bottle of water down, turned around, and walked out without saying a single word. For several minutes, Michonne stared at her food, wondering if it was safe and if she would be poisoned if she ate it. After all, these people had tried to kidnap her. But in the end, she decided to eat; if they wanted to hurt her, they would have done so while she was unconscious. She took one last look at the food and began to eat. Ultimately, she was starving, and her weakened body needed every single bite. In a short time, she finished the plate and drank the water.Michonne finally felt some energy returning to her body, and ideas began to brew in her mind again. The first thing she would do was make them believe she wouldn't escape. Once her injured leg healed, she would leave and return to her children. Things continued this way for nearly a week: the person bringing food three times a day, and a doctor changing her bandages. She felt she had become strong enough to actually start the plan. Her plan was to kill the person who brought the food, take his clothes, and then walk out without anyone suspecting a thing. Michonne smiled at the plan she had devised and lay back on her bed, thinking about how to kill him since she was weaponless and her katana was in their possession. Ideas kept pouring into Michonne's mind, and they stopped when her eyes fell upon her bedsheet. She decided to fashion a rope out of it to strangle the person who brought her food, and she immediately began executing it. When she finished, Michonne knew that dinner would be brought to her shortly, making this the perfect timing for the escape.After about 8 minutes, she heard the sound of the door lock opening and hid the makeshift rope she had created. She stood up from her spot, determined to execute her plan. But as soon as she saw the person who entered, she felt a deep frustration. It wasn't the same man, but rather the man named Okafor and that woman—whatever her name was—standing directly in front of her. The man advanced toward Michonne while she tried to hide the rope, which she succeeded in doing, or at least she thought she did.Okafor cut through her train of thought, telling her that they were going to take her outside, but before that, she had to pass a simple test. All she had to do was answer the questions. Michonne just stared at him in silence, which she broke this time, asking him: "Who the hell are you, and what do you want from me?" Okafor smiled as he replied: "We are the CRM organization." Michonne shook her head, questioning what this CRM was, and he answered her: "The Civic Republic Military. We save lives." She interrupted him, mocking: "Even when they don't want to?" He kept looking at her with a long stare and added that anyone who enters here undergoes a brief interrogation by the committee, and that she must lie about everything so she won't be killed. "That's all I can tell you for now," he said. "You will be moved to a more comfortable place, and tomorrow morning, someone will be sent to escort you to that location, and I will be there. Now, put that little thing behind your back away, and let's go."

Michonne was shocked that her plan had already been exposed. She knew that this man standing before her was very intelligent and that she had to be extremely careful around him. The woman standing behind him intervened and said that they needed to move now. Okafor turned to her and added, "Yes, let's go," moving slightly to make way for Michonne to step forward. She stood still for a moment, telling herself that she couldn't do anything right now. She advanced with firm steps, and they took her to a more comfortable place, just as he had told her.

On their way, Michonne kept examining the situation outside; it was relatively quiet. They got into a black Jeep and headed forward. After nearly 15 minutes, they finally arrived. They got out of the car, and Michonne did the same, as they led her to her new place.

After settling into her new room—which had a solid wooden door and glass windows that she bet were bulletproof or shatterproof—she kept pacing and pacing around the room. She was thinking about the committee she would face. On the way, both Okafor and Thorne had emphasized that she must appear weak and also lie about everything, even her name. "We are doing this only to save you, and do not ask any questions... at least not now," that was how he concluded his talk with her. Michonne lay on the bed after eating her dinner and placed her head on her pillow, with thoughts wandering in her mind until she fell asleep without even realizing it.

The next morning, Michonne woke up hours before sunrise. She washed her face in the restroom attached to her room. After she finished, she went back to thinking about what she would say there. Lying wasn't difficult at all. "No, no, no... I will succeed in this. I've been through much worse than a mere interview, and I am good at it," Michonne told herself. She took a deep breath and exhaled even harder. She didn't feel the time passing until she heard a knock on the door, which then opened. A person placed breakfast there and walked out immediately. Michonne looked at what was on the table and knew she wouldn't be able to eat; not because the food was bad, but because her anxiety prevented her. She set the food tray aside and waited until the person who would take her to the interview location arrived.

When she arrived, she found herself in a place that looked like an office, but it was massive in size. She noticed three chairs where three people were sitting: two men and a woman. She kept turning her head to see where Okafor and Thorne were, which seemed impossible because if they were there, she would have seen them. Her train of thought was stopped by a female voice ordering her to sit. She complied, and they began asking questions. The first question was about her name. She answered them, along with several other questions. She told them her name was Olivia, her age was 33, and the weapon she used was a small bow, among many other questions. As she turned her head, she noticed a large mirror-like glass and instantly knew someone was behind it.

After she finished the interview and walked out, they gave her a special uniform for new recruits and welcomed her. Once she met up with Thorne and Okafor, he warned her to remain cautious because their leader didn't suspect her. Michonne nodded her head, signaling that she understood. He then added that he wanted to introduce her to an important member of their group, but not right now because he was out on a mission and scheduled to return tomorrow. "But for now," he said, "you are free to walk around and explore the place.

Michonne kept wandering through the streets of the place, which felt strange to her. As she walked around, she stored the locations in her memory, searching for any vulnerability or gap she could exploit when she eventually tried to escape. She kept wandering until it was late, then returned to her quarters. It didn't escape her notice that people were watching her. She said to herself, "Idiots... as if I would escape right away. In any case, I will get into my place first, and then I will think about how to escape from here."After she returned to her room, she found food waiting for her. She ate, finished, and leaned back on her bed. Time passed quickly, and she didn't even realize she had fallen asleep until the next morning.

They should teach you the meaning of privacy." Michonne turned around and found Thorne, whom she stared at for a moment before Thorne started speaking, saying that now that she had passed the interview, she would have rights and some duties. "First, you will walk around freely, but within a limited range, and the rest Okafor will explain to you personally. For now, as I said, you have the right to act freely. Michonne's eyes followed the chopper until it landed on top of a towering building that was visible from where she stood. Michonne moved immediately toward it. After walking for a long time, she finally arrived, and the place was heavily secured, with people in black uniforms well-distributed around it. One of the guards stepped forward and ordered her to leave, but she interrupted him and said that she was here because Okafor had sent for her. She had already lied without even thinking. The guard stood still for a bit, then went inside. After a few minutes, he returned to her, said okay, opened the door, and let her in. Then he walked ahead of her, and she followed him. When they arrived at a spot, the guard stopped, pointed at the door, and left her. She hesitated to enter at first, but the door actually opened

on the first floor. Okafor was already there with Thorne and a third person whom she couldn't recognize because he was wearing his mysterious uniform. She stopped in front of them, and before she could utter a single word, Okafor stepped forward and told her that he was just about to send someone to bring her here, but she had already arrived, and he let out a light laugh.Michonne, who felt a shiver run through her body from the stares of the person standing behind Okafor, kept looking at him. She was brought back by Okafor's voice, who told her that this was the person he wanted her to meet, but he preferred to keep his handsome face behind the mask, and Okafor let out a laugh, and Thorne smiled too. But Michonne didn't care because she still felt the stranger's eyes staring at her continuously, until she felt deeply uncomfortable.

after discovering a phone engraved with her picture, Judith, and cryptic words she couldn't understand. It wasn't until a mysterious man guided her to that ship that her hopeless hope was rekindled—a hope she had never truly lost. Before leaving, she told Judith that she was going out to search for her father, commanding her to watch over her brother, and to stay strong, just as she had taught her. With heavy hearts, Michonne departed, leaving Judith and RJ under the watchful eyes of Daryl and Carol.

Her journey dragged on for months. One rainy day, in an open clearing deep within the woods, she found herself cornering a horde of walkers. Suddenly, the thundering roar of a helicopter echoed overhead. She instinctively looked for cover, but a cluster of the dead hemmed her in. Fighting with sheer, brutal force, her katana sliced through flesh and bone, taking off heads one after another.

Then, disaster struck. Michonne tripped over a root and fell hard to the muddy ground. A sharp, broken branch pierced deep into her thigh. Gritting her teeth, she tried to ignore the searing pain, fighting solely to save her own life.

But then, a strange thing happened. The walkers around her began to drop, one by one, their skulls shattered. She realized the helicopter she had spotted earlier was raining fire down upon them.

Limping heavily, Michonne forced herself onto her feet, desperate to escape. Suddenly, warning shots tore through the dirt around her feet. Over the deafening, whipped-up wind of the rotor blades, a booming voice from the chopper's loudspeaker cut through the storm:

"Freeze! Hands in the air! Do not move!"

With the wind battering her face and no way out, Michonne had no choice but to raise her hands. She surrendered for now, comforting herself with one grim thought: as long as they hadn't shot her yet, they needed her alive.

Or so she hoped

As the helicopter touched down and the doors slid open smoothly, Michonne spun around, fixing her intense gaze on the opening deck. The blood loss from her wound was taking its toll; dizziness washed over her in waves, but she stood tall, refusing to show any weakness.

Three figures emerged from the strange aircraft. Two wore heavily armored helmets, while the third went barefaced. The uncovered man stepped forward, advancing toward Michonne, who instinctively took a step back, her eyes narrowing.

The mysterious man spoke, introducing himself as Okafor. He assured her that no harm would come to her, provided she complied with his orders.

Fighting the looming darkness of unconsciousness, Michonne defiantly raised her katana, locking herself into a combat stance. In a flash, the two masked soldiers behind Okafor raised their weapons, aims fixed dead at Michonne.

With a calm but firm gesture, Okafor signaled them to lower their rifles, demanding they hold their fire until commanded. The guards stepped back, and Okafor stepped closer, cautious of the wounded woman.

Michonne, whose every instinct screamed not to trust this man, lunged forward to attack. But her body failed her; Okafor easily evaded the blow. Her strength completely depleted, Michonne collapsed onto the muddy ground before his eyes.

The world faded. The roaring of the engine, the wind, and the pain all vanished, leaving nothing but an endless, silent darkness.9
