i like rouxls liking worms and being a bugkeeper. its really good bug lover representation imo. he is supposed to be seen as a weird guy by the player and how prominent it is that he likes WORMS(?!) of all things adds to this but it isnt represented as necessarily negative. he even endearingly calls the fungang worms as an "insult" and its really cute. you should also think its really cute. he picked something generally disliked that most would interpret as an insult but something he loves dearly.

he also calls lancer a little water beetle. wipes a tear. wipes another tear.

and thing is everyone loves rouxls. i have seen people say queen is funnier than him (true) or hes annoying (also true. pretty objective too, i understand how thats not your thing) but hes pretty loved in the fandom

when you like bugs you are seen as crazy and reckless and a weirdo freak for liking such disgusting creepy creatures but dtr doesnt want to make you feel that way.

you ARE supposed to find it weird he likes bugs but doesnt show him getting ridiculed for that, especially not in a way thats supposed to make the viewer think he deserves it. he is also a pleasant person and not someone youre supposed to hate. a person who hates bugs with all their heart, after seeing rouxls and encountering a person who loves bugs a while later may think "oh, just like rouxls kaard deltarune, love that guy, haha!" instead of "ew, its such a repulsive thing to enjoy bugs, i dont like that."

and if you already like bugs, after seeing rouxls you may think "oh, he likes bugs just like me; and thats represented as a casual trait people can have instead of being used to convey he's creepy. i feel more normal and acceptable now"

just look at him isnt he so awesome

and i like that this trait was given to an already kinda strange person. of course there are people who like bugs and have no other unusual qualities but all the people who like bugs i personally know, ESPECIALLY those that arent "cute" (butterflies, caterpillars and ladybugs) are seen as weird outside of that too. it really conveys that: in order to have one weird interest, you dont have to make up for it by not having any other unpleasant or unusual traits and being a perfectly presentable and acceptable person in any type of environment

this is an extremely specific and self indulgent post, i dont think theres really any target audience for it?. but him liking bugs makes me so happy. i love him. i love worm liker bug keeper rouxls. thank you. its so comforting
