Ridiculous Filmmaking Tips

This is a place where we will discuss film making tips that no one else will tell you but are very important. We will also take submissions.

Tip # 7

If you are recording someone saying lots of ’s’ s make sure they don’t have a lisp.

I “3,2,1 *Clap*” for the audio and video to sync up as they’re both separate files. The camcorder audio and mic audio are easily synced with a sharp clap (hence why movies have those clap boards)

Then I do a “3,2,1 *mouth sound*” kind of like a pop to start the recording so I know exactly when I started the game footage. 

It’s extremely simple but it works incredibly well to know when everything is synced and starting so it doesn’t become a nightmare in editing :)

Tip #7 

Gaff tape fixes everything

Tip Number 6

Don’t use lapel mics if you plan on filming a make out scene. You will constantly hit them

Tip Number 5:

Never confuse Gaff tape with Duct tape. Your leg hairs can tell the difference.

Tip Number 4:

Never say “hold my pole.” Especially if you’re a guy.

Tip Number 3:

Do not give the boom pole a handjob. It makes noise on the microphone

Never scoop your boom mic if your actor has gas
