I’m reading the revised version of TGCF for the first time, since the book is now being published in an official Polish translation
I really like how the writer added a scene where Hua takes Xie Lian for a walk through various villageis while Lian's arm is injured (from Emin’s blow) to take and break & rest, and it explicitly states that he also took Lian to help the children from which Hua received prayers some time ago
It’s such a nice little moment to show that Hua Cheng isn't heartless and cares about a lot of things.
He fell in love with Xie Lian because of his kindness and willingness to do good deeds regardless of consequences. And now they both are answering on kids prayers
Came to my tattoo appointment. The master is a geek. And she loves MTP. Feel like home
I'm changing my perspective on William & Fyodor edits
From now on, I will consider them a tribute to William's acting skills. He's incredibly convincing; to the point that even readers are manipulated by him
I will not let myself be enoyed by them
I love the 3rd short film so much (all 3 of them, but this one is truly special)
If the war and the plague in Xianle had never occurred,...
Xie Lian would have remained a god for a long amount of time.
Eventually, his parents would have stepped down, and Qi Rong (being next in line) would have become the king of Xianle
Under King Qi Rong, how long would Xianle have lasted?
Even as a ghost, he showed a loyalty to the no longer existed kingdom. Jokes aside, he’s also quite intelligent
The difference in how Lan Qianqiu treats Xie Lian before and after finding out that Xie Lian was his masked teacher is breaking my heart.
I love my tragic princes with hearts too soft

I've never enjoyed conducting research this much in my life

Honestly, reading Heaven’s Official Blessing first and then The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is such a unique experience
These novels are my first introduction to Chinese fantasy where characters practice cultivation. And first of all, it perfectly illustrates the difference in power: I’ve already read about gods and demons and seen what they’re capable of. So now, when it’s young "ordinary" cultivators…
suddenly all those creatures are actually a problem? Now no one can just look at them and kill them with a single glance or a simple movement of one hand???
And the biggest difference is in how the characters treat the souls of dead people
The gods barely even blinked at various ghosts. Xie Lian worried about Ban Yue and even said something like "Yes, ghosts can have trouble adapting too"
Everyone felt sympathy for the demoness Xuan Ji - or pitied her, even though by that point she was completely unhinged and beyond saving
But in each of them, the characters of TGCF still saw the person these ghosts once were — someone alive, someone with feelings.
They saw the cause and the consequences. They considered them worthy of an emotion, even if that emotion was pity for a dead soul. Nobody disregarded that the dead have emotions, even if the character didn’t give a single fuck about those emotions
Whereas in MDZS, despite how all those cultivators keep shouting about how important human souls are and whatever — they no longer see people in the dead
Suddenly, the human soul isn’t important anymore. You can just disregard them and their entire previous existence
it’s depressing
No wonder none of them ascended
Katabasis - R. F. Kuang
I can accept some aspects of the criticism of this book, but what I will never agree with is the claim that «when reading Katabasis, it's hard to understand that it's supposed to be satire and a critique of the academic system »
C'mon.
(Point #1) The book literally says that the most respected professor at the university is a person whose negligence caused the death of 5 students during an experiment, and all the university did was send the bodies of the dead students to their parents with a note stating that their children themselves were not careful enough during the experiment and, essentially, it was their own fault.
(Point #2) The university is governed by a culture where no one admits to watching TV/going to movies/reading books of any genre other than scientific (novels, fiction, comedy).
They say they never do anything for their own pleasure— they don't even have sex, despite being married with children. Be for real
(Point #3) There are people on campus who eat once a day and pass out because of it. And everyone around praises them for such "wonderful self-discipline."

I'm only on page 159 of the Polish translation, and I already see very clearly what is being criticized and laughed at. This is dark academia the way it's supposed to be.
I was re-reading the manga and came across this foreshadowing....agh I love MTP and Sherliam SO MUCH
Started reading a random tiktok-recomended manhwa for fun on a train. This... deserves a better name bc it's one of the best in it's genre
Name: Sister, I Am the Queen in This Life

This guy, whatever his name is, could be an interesting antagonist for Louis
— Bye, Louis. I don't want to see you again if I can help it
Hell no. You can't escape Louis so easy 😤
I hope they will meet again
I thought I hated omegaverse but recently I read Kiss Me If You Can and now I like Josh
I honestly don’t know how I feel about omegaverse anymore. I’m in crisis 😖

Hello !!!!
Do you have any og willliam surviving hc ? Like, which relationship he would have with his brothers of he shows to them that he changes ?
( moriarty the patriot )
Thank you ^^
Hi !!
I don’t really have any headcanons about the original William, because he didn’t spend much time alive in the manga, so he never really caught my interest.
---
Ignoring my lack of interest, bringing the original William back to life has huge angst potential, because he genuinely loved Albert. And Albert killed him.
It’s hard for me to imagine him being angry at Albert, since as a kid he idolized his older brother just like Louis idolized William; maybe he would be deeply disappointed in Albert (since he did warn in one of the scenes that William and Louis were using him for their own purposes, and Albert fell for it anyway).
He would be 100% resent our William.
I’m not sure how much he’d be angry with Louis, since we never saw him view Louis as competition for Albert’s attention or as an intellectual threat to the Moriarty family. But now Louis has grown up and changed a lot, so maybe now og William could also be angry with him.
---
It’s hard to say; the original William didn’t get enough time on the pages for me to confidently imagine his reactions or feelings.
I hope my thoughts were at least half as interesting as your question. Thank you!!
