original post description under cut : )
Happy Sunday! I made a guide to encourage more comments around here and honestly in all art spaces :) !! Here are also 2 more resources on what to comment: WikiHow + r/ArtistLounge
I'd also like to say that if you receive no comments on something, it doesn't mean your art is bad! YOU ARE STILL A GREAT ARTIST!
☆Big Reminder: If you see a rude comment, please report it for the mods to review. Please also report any scam or spam comments seen. It really helps out ! :)☆ Ty for reading!
I typed up the guide in case my handwriting is hard to read below or for translation:
Commenting on Art:
The two notes along the image of persona top left looking at a canvas says:
Keep it respectful and positive
Sit with a piece you really like and understand why
You could say how a piece made you feel:
Like happy, sad, relatable, confused (maybe ask a question).
Also, how the art succeeded in execution like how funny the joke landed or how scary the entity is.
Or simply, say what you like most! You could comment on how you like the colors, the oc design, uniqueness, composition, art style, etc.
Things to keep in mind, do not:
Compare ocs to other existing media/other ocs
Give unsolicited criticism
The speech bubble attached to the gloomy character says 'What do I even say to that?'
A comment may turn to a friendly conversation. Genuine connection. This all could lead to someone asking for an art trade, collaboration, or role-play. Maybe someone makes fan art of the other or a shout out.
☆ Remember: 1 comment can UPLIFT an artist's spirit. Imagine what more does. ☆
This community values EFFORT above all else! The more effort put in, the more to say!
