I cried while making banana bread at 3am on Christmas Day, so that's a thing.

How are your holidays going??

Tyler and I should be in Vegas right now. We would have arrived on Saturday and stayed at The Flamingo. We should have seen Earth, Wind & Fire on Saturday night at The Palms. It would have been my sixth time seeing them, once every year since 2013 except 2017 & 2018. I am sitting here at quarter to one am on Sunday night (Monday morning) polishing off a bottle of wine and listening to EWF and dreading having to work tomorrow morning.

I drove up to the great white North this weekend to hang out w my brother and apparently, his (temporary) housemate. So far we've eaten a lot of bagels, learned a lot about food preparation including the difference between baking and cooking, found out that Canadians are sneaking snakes in the grass and not to be trusted (Erin, I've defended your honor!) and that the robots on Mars are also sneaky and definitely up to something. There were mad tacos as well as an order of "qwaysa-dey-lows", which absolutely baffled the gentleman taking the order, bean tea, grocery shopping, Legos, and walking down to the frozen lake in the dead-cold dark. We all stood at the frozen edge, looking out across the bleak expanse, and listened in awed silence to the alien creaking and thrumming from below the ice. A shooting star lit the walk back, and all is now cozy and quiet. I'm pretty glad I came up.
