October 11, 1915 - Leopold Kurtz is Born

Leopold Kurtz was born on October 11, 1915. He would grow up to be a scientist, joining the Nazi party in time to participate in Project Ragna Rok. Named after an apocalyptic scenario from Norse mythology, Project Ragna Rok, headed by Grigori Rasputin, was one of Hitler’s occult programs, designed to bring about the fabled doomsday in a way that would result in a Nazi victory of World War II. As a member of this project team, Kurtz was present for the “Hellboy Incident,” a disastrous portal experiment which brought the demon known as Hellboy to Earth. That demon would go on to join the Allies in WWII.

Becoming a devoted follower of Rasputin, Kurtz had himself cryogenically frozen alongside his master at the end of the war, waiting for a time when he would be needed again. After Rasputin was destroyed by Hellboy, Abe Sapien, and Liz Sherman during the Cavendish Hall affair in 1994, Kurtz dedicated himself to reconstituting his master’s body.

Kurtz began to work on the “Army of the Apocalypse.” After overhearing his colleagues discuss what he believed to be treason, Kurtz flew into a violent rage. Karl Kroenen and Herman von Klempt attempted to dissuade him from his attack, but were unable; Kroenen stabbed Kurtz in self-defense, killing him.

I like the design of Karl Ruprecht Kroenen from Hellboy because it is quite a simple design but also has a lot of small details. However there are a lot of one piece curved areas which I would have trouble creating so I will have to leave out of my designs.
