vaguely coherent post-gw2 au lore thoughts under cut
current thoughts on lich trahearne involve the cleansing of orr
so necromancer abilities in game sometimes require parts of the caster as fuel, right? (blood, self-inflicted conditions, etc) And we know that Hearne studied necromancy specifically to get closer to cleansing Orr, so it would make sense that the cleansing ritual he developed was built from a foundation of necromancy.
we also know that sylvari have souls bc we've seen them with the mist wardens (also the sylvari commander had one during the departing)
so, what if the ritual used a part of his soul as fuel, and that's why he collapsed afterwards and had to be sidelined for the zhaitan fight to recover? and, what if that piece of him stuck around, becoming a part of orr's lifeblood waters? could the continent itself function as a version of a lich's phylactery?
my thought is that he was buried in orr in this au, right by the artesian waters, and sort of reabsorbed his consciousness over time. his memory is a little spotty as a result. he's like a water lich and gets dehydrated easily; needs to be in water frequently or he dries up like the awakened sylvari
idk how the mist stranger theory fits into this. i'll figure out a way to connect the dots eventually
