Leave a “Tell Me” in my ask, and I’ll write a drabble about my character confessing something to yours [be it a love confession, a secret, feel free to specify.]
Running a tanned hand through his dirty blonde hair before pacing placing his head on the dashboard of his beat up truck, “You got to do it, man.” Bryce Santiago pepped talked himself before checking the flash of his phone to see the name Riley Northman and the words, “ I’m at the Grill.”
Now you see, Bryce had known Riley for some time now, two years if we were to be specific, but nevertheless over those courses, he’d watch her be patient, be strong, and fall in love with the wrong people that he’d know he could do way better. But the thing is; he’d never expected for her to return his feelings. Oh, the woes of unrequited love. They both were going into their sophomore year of college, close to their home of Mystic Falls, given that Bryce had Missy and Ethan whilst Riley would always be ever faithful to her sister. He never expected to care about her as much as he did; but what was man to do. So today; today was going to be the day that he would tell her. Though the timing would somewhat be odd given she had recently broken up with a boyfriend. But he felt, why not? Why not stop letting her have her heart be broken. She deserved better. As did he.
Breathing a light sigh before slamming the car door and entering the Grill, he searched the sea of people however it was more than evident that her tamed flamed hair stood out. She seemed to have caught his eye as well. She sat their looking like a girl with a broken smile. And Bryce had the urge to cure it; he had to. Cursing himself for not bringing flowers or something, he moved toward her direction before opening his arms hoping she would return his embrace. It worked—though it wasn’t as hearty as he’d wished for.
Trying to mask his disappointment, his brown eyes searched her—her eyes were somewhat puffy with lines that would show she was staying up at night, a sense of calamity as well as—a faint smile that was hardly questionable of its genuinity.
A few minutes had passed, thirty minutes—he’d be able to make her laugh. Riley would tell him about all her exes and at one point, she breathed a heavy sigh before saying with such an expression, “Do you think I could be happy? “Where Bryce took his opportunity by saying, “Would you mind it if I made my job to see that you are?”
She laughed, passed it off as a joke. She’d always do that it would drive him crazy. However he didn’t want her to pass it off, “ You know, I think I know what’s wrong with you. You should be kissed and by someone who knows how.” He smiled watching her facial expressions though he couldn’t seem to understand—but she smiled, “Oh, and are you, Bryce Santiago, telling me you’re the one that can do it right? “
It was one of their rounds—showing their love for one of the best movies ever made. But instead of the normal response, he slide her palm to the side of her face, the glow in her checks glowed brightly at his touch. They both matured throughout the years, they grew up and he wanted nothing but the best for her. “ Riley fucking Northman, you are beautiful. And I don’t know if you know this—but I can give you the world and more if you’d just let me. You’ve been my friend for years and what I’m asking for is to meet me half way.”
Riley paused for a moment; taking in the situation before leaning closer to him—truly understanding what he was telling her, “ Why not, besides—tomorrow is a new day.”
