He didn’t bring a new sound in the past as Marty McFly did, but he took the opportunity to steal the secrets of people like Sam Cooke and Elvis. This singer/songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas, describes his music as “blending southern soul and gospel” and there’s really not a better way to do so.

Last December, Violet Skies got our attention thanks to the release of her stunning debut single How The Mighty, a dark ballad punctuated by minimal electronic beats and embellished by the sound of a classic piano. Not to mention the voice of Violet.

I have to be honest with you: if Orchid Tapes hadn’t announced a couple of days ago that they were about to release the new Alex G‘s album, probably I would have never heard of him. In a recent beautiful article, The Fader named Philadelphia-based Alex Giannascoli “the Internet’s Secret Best Songwriter” and it seems that they have gone very close to the truth.

The Away Days are a dream-pop band from Istanbul, leaded by singer/guitarist Oguz Can Ozen. With their melodic guitar hooks, soft hazy vocals and melancholy aura, this Turkish group wowed us from the very first listen. After the release of their debut EP How Did It All Start in late 2012, they have been quite busy doing a lots of gigs and taking part in some of the most important festivals, like SXSW and The Great Escape.
