two headcanons you have for your character that you never told anyone:
Almost all of the clothes Kirishima owns are second hand. Growing up, money was tight, meaning he and his older sister went without many luxuries that other kids his age might have had. Kirishima never once questioned it, nor found himself longing for more ( at least until he discovered video gaming ), as he considered it normal. It’s part of the reason why his fashion sense is so terrible. So often his mother would come home with a random assortment of mismatched clothing from the thrift shop down the road, apologising for the awful selection. Seeing his mother’s shame was too much to bear, and so he wore everything she brought him with pride, even if some of the shirts smell a little funny or there’s a suspicious stain on his pant leg that just won’t come out. In the end, it turned out he enjoyed the bright, gaudy clothing and has since developed a habit of partnering different prints and colours together no matter how silly others might think he looks. Speaking badly of his clothes is something of a sore spot for Kirishima, particularly when he thinks about how hard his mother saves up each month just to keep them all fed and clothed.
Kirishima is surprisingly good at household jobs. Though he has allowed himself to slack off a little since moving into the dorms, Kirishima has developed the subconscious habit of cleaning up after his classmates, even if it’s as simple as collecting dirty dishes and moving them to the sink to be washed up later. With his mother often out working long hours to earn enough money to make ends meet, Kirishima and his older sister spent a lot of time taking care of their younger sister and keeping the house clean. In spite of this, keeping Kirishima as far away from the kitchen as possible is advised: he’s a terrible cook and will undoubtedly find a way to set his own ramen on fire if left unattended.
three things your character likes doing in their free time:
Kirishima spends the majority of his free time training. Sparring with friends, running, lifting weights, testing the durability of his quirk... Kirishima does it all, often on a daily basis. It’s cathartic and leaves him with a nice buzz. But for the most part, he trains so hard in his desperation to keep up with those around him. Fuelled by the belief that if he lets up for a second, his classmates will leave him behind, Kirishima has a tendency to push himself to his limits. That being said, he’s very careful not to overwork himself, unless something’s on his mind and he needs the distraction.
When he’s not training, Kirishima enjoys going out on long walks/hikes. He likes losing himself in the surrounding nature, enjoying a moment of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle his life has become since attending U.A. If said walk happens to turn into a 10-mile jog somewhere along the way, he’s certainly not complaining.
On lazy days, Kirishima can be found indulging in his secret love of K-Dramas. It’s an obsession he developed at a young age, thanks to his mother’s habit of leaving the television on whenever she had time to spare about the house, an obsession that has only grown in its intensity over the years. It’s something he keeps to himself, out of mild fear of being teased and as such none of his classmates are aware of it. Or, at least, until Mina ( @corrodc ) unwittingly discovered his secret. The two of them regularly exchange gossip surrounding the newest drama the pair of them are watching.
seven people that your character loves/likes:
His older sister, Akane and his younger sister, Natsu.
His boyfriend, Bakugou Katsuki ( @hecksplosive ).
His best friend, Midoriya Izuku ( @delawaresmash ).
His best friend and guitar teacher, Jirou Kyouka ( @amplifical ).
His partners in crime, Kaminari Denki, Sero Hanta and Mina Ashido ( @corrodc ).
two things your character regrets:
Kirishima regrets not doing something when Bakugou was kidnapped. While he actively participated in his rescue, Kirishima feels as if he should have done something the night the kidnapping itself took place. After promising himself he’d no longer have any regrets, it’s a frustrating moment in his life, and he wishes he’d listened to his instincts instead of doing as he was told when a dear friend of his was in need. He’s since vowed to himself that he’ll always listen to his heart, even if it means breaking a few rules along the way.
Kirishima regrets nearly allowing his self-doubt to get in the way of his dreams. For a scary moment, he very nearly gave up on his dreams of becoming a hero, which is his greatest regret and shame. While his failure left him crippled with self-doubt and self-loathing, he’ll never forgive himself for nearly throwing it all away. As such, Kirishima strives never to stray from his path again. No matter what, he’ll become a hero.
two phobias your character has:
Atychiphobia, the fear of failure. He fears being put in a position where he fails to protect someone he cares about, fears that he might return to being the cowardly person he used to be, who could do little but stand there and watch when people were in danger. Such a fear was only further heightened in the wake of Bakugou’s kidnapping ( for a few weeks after Bakugou’s rescue, Kirishima made the point to keep subtle tabs on his best friend’s whereabouts, and is determined not to let the same thing happen twice ). His failure to do anything to save Bakugou bothers him greatly, even to this day.
Atelophobia, the fear of not being good enough. Kirishima fears that his strength won’t be enough for the battles ahead, that even after all these months at U.A, nothing has changed and he’s still weak. He fears this so intensely that it’s driven him to train relentlessly in his desperation to grow even stronger. He’s extremely aware of his limits and is constantly seeking new ways to overcome them.
