Liminal Hollows

When three of her classmates go missing without a trace, Aislinn is as confused as everyone else on campus. She's even more confused when her Ancient Folklore and Mythology professor suggests transfer student Kyle Manson is behind the disappearances, and that Kyle is actually a faerie. Somewhat reluctantly, Aislinn finds herself assisting the professor in his search for the truth. She wasn't expecting him to be right. And she was definitely not expecting to be abducted to the Unseelie realm. Trapped in an unfamiliar world, with danger at every turn, it will take all of Aislinn's abilities--and a few remembered snatches of her folklore classes--to escape before the list of abductees can get any longer.

No novel this July--I’ll be working instead on a fantasy reference book I can use, so that I don’t have to Google the magical properties of every single item I want to include in my fantasy novels like Dark Pages and Ashes Ashes (it’ll be especially convenient thanks to Eth’s spell-casting techniques). I’m hoping to get through the bulk of it this month, if not finish it.

My Name Was Henrietta

In 2045, nuclear disaster struck the world. In the aftermath, the few survivors must join together and attempt to rebuild. Small pockets of land that managed to survive the bombings became the new settlements, the new cities, and the new nations. Two teenagers living in what's left of Germany, Henrietta and Jakob, hear rumors of a new micronation which has managed to build itself up from the nothingness left after the disaster. Hopeful for new opportunities, they decide to brave the nuclear wasteland and venture to the small country of Amitrea. But nothing is ever as idyllic as it seems... My Name Was Henrietta is the account of how it all began.

me: all right! time to get some writing done!

brain: we can't.

me: um?

brain: the stars are not in alignment for this chapter.

me: meaning..?

brain: something is wrong with the last thing you wrote that's going to matter down the line, and unless you fix it now, whatever you do next won't work.

me: right, okay, cool! what needs fixing?

brain: I don't know.

me: what

brain: look, my knowledge of the problem is a wave-and-particle dealie. I can know that there's an error or I can know what needs to happen, but I can't know both at once.

me: UM.

brain: we totes fucked up, tho

me: ...

brain: it's fine! just let it percolate, I'll figure it out.

me: have you ever heard of this thing

me: it's called a DEADLINE

me: and WE HAVE ONE

me: SOON

brain: ...

brain: new thought who dis
