@rising-heroes
STOP LIKING THAT POST.
"Good hustle, everyone."
Well, this sure is a fine predicament she's gotten herself into, huh?
"...boop."
Figures that he couldn't just ask outright about what was in the future, not that this was the important part of his line of questioning. On the other hand, the idea of someone on the level of the Hero of Time retiring was extremely funny to consider.
"I dunno, Oona... I'd say I've got just a little more faith in you than that... I can see it now: A desk job, jockeying paperwork around the office at massively F.T.L speeds, cramming all the work before lunch hour so you can spend the rest of your shift chilling out with a meal. Yep, you've got a~ll the makings of a prime retiree."
Working his neck around, Gotenks causally performed perhaps the rarest feat in Conton, and looked up to Oona's face. "That aside, the whole game 'a Hero Work really sells itself as a premium package, huh?"
She really reminded them, in this way, to Goku; perfecting yourself in the crucible of a fast-paced work environment like that was always reward enough. "It's a good mindset, way past." And it's one that's been getting a lot more appealing and natural to him the longer he's been 'in the game', so to speak.
"How long have you been at it, since we're on the subject of the rat race? Anything ever stick out to you that you're real proud of? Ever get to sitting on what kinda splash you've made? Gotta know what the records are if I wanna smash 'em."
"I think I'd actually explode." That was, perhaps, the single least appealing suggestion she may have ever heard. A desk job, paperwork, sitting around talking and just watching the action unfold... eugh.
"It sure does! You get to do all sorts of travel to cool places, see the biggest things to happen all throughout history, clash fists with people you could never fight with otherwise... I couldn't see myself doing anything else, really!"
She gives a wide grin at that, just the idea of it getting her a bit excited. The old adage seemed to hold quite true for her- find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life!
"Oh, geez, how long has it been... something like nineish years, maybe? As far as the highlight reel... well, there's definitely my fights with Mira. If he wasn't working for that witch, he'd make a super-strong rival! What else...? Well, of course, there was that whole Demon God Demigra thing too- that's the one everyone else'll tell you if you ask. There's plenty more, though, a whole lotta other scraps too."
She rubs the back of her head and chuckles, thinking back on her career... there really was a lot to talk about, wasn't there? All the alternate futures she's seen, the changed pasts, impossible fights orchestrated by enemy time travelers... she could ramble about them all day. Then there was the fact that out of all others, Shenron picked her when Trunks called for a mighty warrior. And there was that time Towa tried to erase her... the entire fabric of time had nearly collapsed. If she needed confirmation of the impact she made, that'd do it.
"It's been a long career, but I don't think I'm gonna be slowin' down anytime soon, hehe. Gonna have to double-time it if you wanna catch up." She grins, giving a wink to the fused hybrid- a challenge, one she hoped he'd meet. The more rivals, the better, after all- that's how you grow fastest!
..At least she could take pride that she hit him with that improvised move, even if it was a case of mistaken identity in a sense. Still, she was quick to get onto her feet proper now. Mask comes off, sheepish smile clear on her face now as she gave a bit of a wave. Claws return to the dull blue they usually are as Wisps peek out as well. They all look perhaps a bit embarrassed now about the affair.
Whisper reaches into her cloak, pulling out an audio device and hitting the button with a bit of a flinch now.
"Oh, crap. I-I'm sorry." The voice played before she stopped it, stuffing it back to it's inner-cloak pocket before reaching her prosthetic hand out with a bit more of a genuine smile now.
"Whisper." She croaks out, making it clear why she used the audio device right after. ..Right, maybe the stupid title would help. "Angel."
Kori slowly tilts his head as the stranger removes her mask, curiosity taking over confusion on his face. Several wisps peek out from her arm, only adding to his curiosity- multiple wisps in one wispon? Very interesting- it certainly explains her attacks.
"You're good. I probably woulda been just as much on edge if someone chased me into one of these bases." Whisper. That name wasn't too familiar to him... and the second name doesn't initially click. 'Angel?' What did... wait. Hadn't he heard rumors of some kinda battlefield angel?
"Ooooh... you must be that battlefield angel! Surprised it took this long for us to run into each other, honestly... we sorta do the same thing. The name's Kori. But, uh, if we're sharing titles, I guess mine's Rookie. At least that's what everyone calls me." Truth be told, he could do without the title- it didn't quite feel like it fit anymore. But, it's what stuck.
♡ + Kindness for Six!
Six is rather... opinionated, when it comes to others. She likes to think she's a kind person, but, quite often, if she's decided she doesn't like someone, or if she's annoyed, she'll quickly get rather bratty. That's not to say she wouldn't step up to defend someone she deemed as needing help- but she also might just be prickly as hell about it.
"Kindness is reserved for people that aren't hurting other people. And people who aren't being idiots."
A faux frown whipped onto his face, emphasizing a playful smirk and adjustment of his posture. "So... what, you think the Demon King of Destinies won't be able to hold out a few centuries?"
They whistled a long, descending note. "Sounds like we've got ourselves a nonbeliever! What makes you so sure that we're not, like, just minding our own business outta the public eye, huh?" "Speaking of..." the last word dragged out practically to death, "do you think retirement 'll ever be in the cards for you? I might wanna rock up and take the 'hero of time' spot out from under you, and I wanna know how much competition's gonna be there!" Half-truth, naturally. He wanted to know a lot more than just that, but making conversation is good for the soul.
"Something tells me you're the kinda guy who wants to make a splash in the world. And maybe you do!"
"Buuuuut, one way or the other, I can't tell ya! You'll just have to figure that one out yourself, right? More fun that way!" She gives a lighthearted laugh, very much amused at his attitude and stance. Not that she didn't respect his capability! She just very much enjoyed the moxie. And speaking of...
"Oho? Another challenger for the top slot, eh...? That competition's already pretty heated, you know- and, sorry to say, it's not a race I've got any plans on stepping out of either." She gives a big grin to that, excited at the very notion. Every new challenge was a chance to learn, to grow- and to help others do the same. If another Patroller wanted to knock her off the top of the hill, she'd be happy to climb her way back up.
"I mean, could you imagine...? I wouldn't even know what to do with myself! Fighting baddies, saving the timeline, helping people... it's not really a job to me, y'know? Never has been."
♡ + Anger (Oona!)
It takes a LOT to get a proper rise out of Oona. She's generally an extremely affable person, with only a few 'anger' buttons. She may get lightly mad if you ruin her food- food's pretty important to Majins, as you can probably guess. But a surefire way to actually enrage her would be hurting some of her close loved ones. Trunks and Chronoa are just two examples of people who, if severely injured, will take her from 'hero' to 'warrior.'
"Just ask Demigra how that went for him."
♡ + Altruism (@ Android Six)
Six has a tendency not to hang onto too much, herself- keeping just above the minimum she needs to function (which, considering she's an android, isn't much) and using the rest as she sees fit to help people.
"That's sorta the point, huh? There's a lot more to being a hero than just smacking around bad guys. Y'gotta try and help out in other ways, too. People don't just go to crime because it's fun, right? If someone's starving, just give'em food, don't go tossing them in a cell for stealing."
"I am gonna kick the crap outta any violent baddies though."
♡ + Shapeshifting (@ Oona)
DEFINITELY something she uses for mischief. Will in fact shapeshift her face to tease an opponent mid-fight.
"It's not only fun, but a REALLY good way to make people blindly angry at me! And blindly angry people? They get sloppy."
♡ + Mystery (@ Kori)
Kori LOVES a good mystery! Would love even more if those mysteries didn't involve the usual suspect, though.
"I didn't get invited to the murder mystery party..."
Send me ♡ + a word, and I’ll write a headcanon.
Whisper hissed in annoyance as he worked off his failed Wisp attack to a sweep kick, feeling her legs being knocked out from under her. It wasn't an ideal situation, but she could still work with it. Body twists, bracing both hands against the floor and curling. Green wisp boosts her hard backwards again for a vicious donkey kick as both legs just out to his chest-
And then he speaks and she nearly falls flat on her face, whether it hits or not. She laid on the floor for a beat, then another, before masked face whips up to stare at him. Askew, there's just enough time to make out what can only be a mixture of confusion, embarrassment.. and honestly just a bit more embarrassment on her face.
The wolf mouths a few words, but no sound comes out. Not that it was particularly needed, as the ruckus leads the door they'd both been near to suddenly slide open. Green turns to pink as she rolls on the ground, metallic slashing at the air as a buzzsaw goes clean through the Badnik that had come to check out the noise along with the one that had been behind it.
Well, this was a blunder and a half on her part, wasn't it?
"Hu-" He tries to block the kick, but the sudden boost from the green wisp takes him completely off-guard- that was a clever trick. The kick lands squarely on his chest, winding him and sending him sailing back-first into the wall.
He lets out a wheeze on impact, seeing stars briefly as he staggers back to his feet... and then his opponent freezes, looking up at him with... confusion? It looked like she was trying to speak, but...
"WOAH-" He whirls, keeping eyes on the blade as it sails past him and through its true mark- a Badnik that was just about to strike him from behind.
"Uh... all right, I'm getting some mixed messages here."
"Damn."
Truthfully, Whisper had only mouthed it, but the systems in her mask detected the word and repeated it out. Either way, she was already seen. She'd been hoping this would be easy, but unfortunately for her whoever this was had experience as well. Just her luck.
She had just enough time to notice the wispon before the whip of lightning-like energy arced through the room. Cyan flicked back into capsule as Green returned to arm, hues shifting as she braced palm against wall and burst of green energy rocketed Whisper out of the way. She always did work better before getting caught...
No time to keep switching, so she rushes to close the distance enough to point palm at him and blast her opponent against the wall in her claws outstretched approach.
Wispons? So she used similar gear... he had plenty of experience with wispons of all types from his training and battles during wartime. But she was somehow using multiple wisp powers... That was a first. He takes note of the switch- cyan to green. Hover. She'd be aiming to blow him away.
He lets the momentum of his spin continue, reaching out with his free hand to touch the floor and pivot into a sweep kick as she rushes, hoping to catch her before that wisp introduces him to the nearest wall.
"Eggman's hiring assassins for me now? I guess I'll have to take that as a compliment! Hope he's at least paying you enough." One thing he learned from Sonic- talking could be just as much of a weapon as a fist.
Rookie's about... done
A beat, then another. Whisper hadn't expected him to merely move on. He seemed confused at best. Still, she hadn't heard any word about backup over the comms, and she didn't want to risk triggering any unnoticed security measures by relaying this information back to the Resistance. So, as far as she was concerned, this person surely had to be an enemy. What kind of fool wanders into an Egg Base, after all?
Whisper sprung down from her spot in the rafters of the room, palm hissing before lasers of cyan wisp energy fire out from the arm's palm at the other in her descent. Get the drop on him and take him out before he has time to realize what happened.
No sooner had his hand touched the keyboard than he heard a quiet hiss in the rafters behind him- there was the ambush. His foot twists slightly, stance adjusting to throw himself to the side and turn. In one clean motion, he swings his right arm outward and twists his body, a pull of the trigger unleashing a yellow whip of crackling energy to carve a line in the ceiling on its way towards his assailant.
"Tch! Who-"
