Phoenix nodded with a smile, unable to help but to thik of Caila in that moment. “Child development huh? Are you in child psychology? Or is researching child development a hobby of yours?”

“Well, start with the book that got you into books,” she suggested and grinned at him when he suggested a book for her. “Is suggesting a book all you’re going to give me? I wanna know your favourite books.”

He smirked at her pushiness but continued on. “This is one of my many favourite books.” he stood up from his seat. “If you hate it after taking a peek I can always suggest another one of my favourite novels.” he said with a gentle laugh.

Plus it’s a really cool pun off Tarantino’s greatest classic that I would never have thought of by myself. ❞

He chuckles as the other explained how one could borrow a drink. “I mean it’s an idea. Sounds a bit tedious.” he paused briefly. “I mean the town wasn’t all bad until recently. I mean the last few months hace been kinda rough. — Sounds like a pretty cool place. I’ll have to check the place out for myself.”

Determined as always, Arabella tilted her nose up proudly into the air, hands firmly on her hips. “Vickers. Give me her address. I’ll get it myse–” Soon, Phoenix spoke again and Arabella nonchalantly tossed hair over her shoulder. “Oh, honey. Once again, it’s proven: you’re the only one I can trust around here. Khm. … Lead the way, Monsieur.” A light smile finally found its way on her red lips.

Phoenix laughed as she complimented him. The red heads dramatics was always an amusing part of his week and when she entered he could be sure that his day wouldn’t be short any entertainment. He stepped out from behind the desk and pulled one of the carts towards him . “Isn’t the college semester over? Or is your interest in the book for fun?”

Fletch scratches his beard, nodding. A small, guilty smile appears on his face. “Yeah, I kinda am. But I should only need a few solid hours of work to smash out this essay. I had better things to do up until now, anyway.” He chuckles. “Yep. Fine Arts at McMaster. Dunno what I’m gonna do with it when I finish college, but oh well.” He shrugs, chuckling to himself.

Nix chuckled as he turned around the corner, leading the other deeper into the stacks. “There is always something better to do when it comes to essays.” he agreed readily. “I always wanted to do fine arts before I went to college. I took a few sketching courses but I realized art wasn’t really my thing.”

“You really should clean this all this, I can’t remember it being this dirty when we were together.” Caila pulled out her phone looking through the text from her sister. “Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.” She said softly, she had to stop herself from reaching for his coffee cup to grab a sip, force of habit. “Glad we’re on the same page.”

“That is because you were constantly here. Telling me to clean it mom.” he chuckled looking over his desk, a frown forming at how messy it really was. He turned to the screen to quickly make sure that they had a copy of the book. He casually stole glances of her from the sides of his view. Romantic feelings there or not Caila always managed to make him feel nervous. “Nineteen Eighty-Four, Brings me right back to high school.”

Camilla kept the smirk on her face as she rolled her eyes at him. “Guilt trips are my thing apparently. Sage needs a book for school, so I offered to pick it up.” She knew she could get this reaction out of him. “I think we are still somewhere in between that”

He couldn’t help but chuckle at her as he stood. Setting his mug down on his messy desk. “You are pretty good at them, but I’m not sure they’re entirely your thing... What’s sage looking for?” he asked before smirking at her. “That sounds about right.”

She gave the stranger confused look, maybe she looked as lost as she felt “Oh, no, none of that, well, I’m not sure” An apologetic smile appeared on her lips, as her fingers began to travel trought the spines of the books in front of her “I was looking for a gift for a seven year old, but I did not realized it would be this hard”

“I’m not sure I’ll be of much help. I mean I am just a librarian with no kids but-” he paused with a grin, “I do have a few nieces and nephews. If you’re looking for an idea of a good book for them to read I do suggest Amelia Bedelia. Old series, but kids still love that goofy maid.”

“No it’s okay. I found the section for noncommitment just fine, thanks for the offer though Nix.” Caila replied with a quick tone.

Phoenix huffed exasperated already at the snarkiness of her reply. “Did you come here for a book? Or did you come here to guilt trip me once again.” he replied quickly. Taking his coffee and leaning back in his chair to stare upwards at his ex. “I thought we had gotten past the ‘Make Nix feel like an asshole’ phase and on to the ‘lets pretend nothing happened’ one.”

“Yeah man. Hi.” Fletch says with a smile, appreciative of the other man’s enthusiasm. “I’m looking for the nonfiction section on abstract art, please. I need references for my final assignment.”

“Cutting it a bit close aren’t we?” he chuckled as he got up from his seat. “Not that I can say anything I was a terrible procrastinator in college... just god awful. I am surprised half my assignments were accepted.” he continued on chuckling as he motioned for him to follow. “Art major I am assuming?”

Arabella marched closer to his desk, a deep frown adorning her features. “Phoenix! Where’s my Stani? It’s not on the shelf, it’s gone.”

Phoenix couldn’t help but chuckle as the girl approached. Setting down his coffee mug he swiveled away from the late slips he was currently shoving into envelopes. “Lets see where it could have gone.” he mused as his fingers clacked away. “Mm. Seems sweet little Mrs. Vickers checked a few of them out yesterday.” he paused squinting at the screen. “It seems one was just returned to day. Shall we go check the book carts Mademoiselle Hart?”

“ mmm, i’m here more to just… check things out. though i am doing a report on jean-jacques rousseau —- anything on him ? “

“Uh... yes. Are you interested in his personal works? Or more of a biographical overlook of his life?” he smile awkwardly. “Because both are in two different sections.”

“Non-fiction, I need some sort of supplementary informational book for my French class that goes over verb usage. I have a list of four titles that could be helpful.” It isn’t until after she had leaned over to slide her references across the counter toward the librarian that she noticed this wasn’t old bird-woman who usually worked this shift. After a short moment of staring blankly at him, she shook her head. “Anyway, good luck finding these, I’ve been looking all morning.”

He nodded thoughtfully as she spoke. Smirking at the realization that she wasn’t speaking to dear Ms. Vickers who he was filling in for. He hummed thoughtfully as he looked over the list that she had slid over. “First things first, I’ll check to see if we even carry some of these. Then if they’ve been returned and placed back on the stacks.” he said turning to his monitor with a grin. “Luckily for you I have my handy computer and practically live here.”

Vivianne raised a brow before grinning. “Well then,” was all she could say before a grin spread onto her lips. “How about you show me your favourite books? I wanna know what kind of person you are.”

Phoenix attempted his best charming smile as he nodded before looking around. “My favourite books. I honestly don’t know where to begin.” he chuckled crossing his arms. “With your interest in Christian Grey and Mr. Darcy I may have a suggestion. Have you ever read The Lover by Marguerite Duras?”

“Yep, any of them.” Scout said with a nod before she followed the male through the cascade of books. “Sabriel? I’ve never heard of that. Who’s the author?”

He nodded as he set about searching for J.K Rowling on the shelf. “It’s by Garth Nix. It is a part of a series that is on going. There are four books, the last came out two years ago?” he questioned himself thoughtfully. “There is one more i think to be released. I liked them and I am a grown man.”

Phoenix let out a loose chuckle. “I mean it would be pretty strange if people borrowed drinks... thinking more about that how would that work?” he pretended to think about it casually. “In any case. Pub Fiction. I like the name, the real question is it named after the genre or the movie? Either way both are a great namesake.”
