Intro Post (Updated As Of 8/6/26)

Hello, I’m Risk aka @radiation-risk and this is our nonhuman blog. Here we will post about alterhumanity. Our main blog houses a lot of reblogs so there is a chance unrelated posts will end up here with no comments whatsoever. We do not differentiate between alters, just realize there are differences.

We are also now bodily 18. We will not be changing our discussions or posts by much but will warn discussions that do contain explicit topics in the content warnings section. This typically should not go over mentions, but we will try to appropriately warn any higher discussions with a tag, but interact with caution if you are a minor or sensitive to such topics.

We are fine with doubles of our character kins, plus we like finding people and beings from our sources (in fictionkin category and the characters category)!

We have no true DNI, but will block anyone who makes us uncomfortable. If you’re into problematic (not regular toxic but genuinely harmful) ships or are pro/neutral contact on harmful paras we encourage you to not interact.

We are pro endo. (We are traumagenic.)

We are willing to answer any questions you may have about nonhumanity, as long as you are not going to use these answers against us. I am for educating people on alterhumanity, but not for hatred towards us.

The system uses They/It pronouns and identify as both bigender and genderfluid. Depending on who is at front he or she may also be used.

trying to figure out how i'd make gear of one of my recent-er ficto theriotypes...

but how in the goddamn world do i make literally ANY gear when my species looks like THIS!!!!!

If I had a confident answer to this I'd love to have one, but this is just throwing around the same issues I have as a phantom and the specific aspects gear would help with. The fact is that a lot of us have this issue. Kintype that's just a bit too hard to have gear for without creative liberties?

Costume making could be one, it'd take a bit but you could try making those tentacle-like growths and put them on a backpack or shirt under the good ol Halloween Costume argument. Sewing those should be relatively easy to learn given my family did that for a costume for a musical once. You could even add the spikes and what I assume to be eyes.

The gear for this sort of thing for the true effect isn't exactly subtle.

Other ideas:

Bejeweled tan shirt with pink jewels for the eyes? Weird pulsating masses? I don't know, I never really finished the series.

Baggier, lighter colored clothes if you're smaller and can find some in your area. This is less of gear but could be nice to have in general.

Spiked headband? I know some cosplayers do this for some spiked headed characters and they seem to be relatively common (at least in the US).

Back to the tentacle idea. A tentacle skirt could be fun to mess around with. Why am I like this /lh

i don’t mean for this to be a discourse-y topic, but can someone explain to me why non-traumagenic “systems” are a thing or even valid? i see daemians and “willogenic systems” a lot in nonhuman spaces, and it makes me uncomfortable. i went through intolerable trauma just for people to water down my disorder.

The brain is very complex. Things will happen and we may never know why or how they happen. Systems are critically unstudied and people aren't watering down a disorder simply by realizing that it exists and that they may have it. Recent studies are showing these things as possible and potentially more common than we could have realized.

Current models of mental health rely heavily on the assumption that only one agent of self exists in every one brain. Deviations from this

A good lesson to learn is that having a disorder does not define an experience. This is how we see Autism as being more commonly diagnosed, especially in girls and women who historically haven't gotten treatment for mental illness on account of being percieved as female and hence "inferior" despite that being false.

The most important thing to note is that the brain is a wide spectrum, plural, neurodivergent, or otherwise and that no identity waters down an identity unless it is intended to do so. The brain is heavily understudied, especially in this era and it is to be said that disorders are diagnosed to get treatment. If a system is not disordered enough to get diagnosed, it does not equate to faking or watering down your issues.

This is coming from a fellow traumagenic system by the way. I'm not going to try and start drama, but I feel like we use "Watering down" and "Invalidating" in a way that brings down others' experiences especially in a community rampant with sanism and ableism even in the modern day.

Misclicked. Mean to click yes. During Subspace's birthday, on October 23rd. He bakes a cake and uses it as one of the few days he fronts. EL also celebrates by hosting a giveaway on June 29th.

If you have the ability to treat yourself on your birthday, by all means you should. Get a little slice of cake or buy something. Not many fictionkin/factkin have the ability to have someone get them a gift more than twice a year, so you have to provide that for yourself. I've debated looking into source birthdays for some of us (Which I'd go off of release dates over any canon date because none of those exist).

Hi! Nonhuman being here! First off, I'd like to say that therianthropy doesn't always regard seeing yourself or desiring to be an animal. Experiences like these are in fact pieces of alterhumanity, the umbrella term that Therians go under. Even if you don't feel anything, you can still be welcome under the label of alterhumanity. You may be experiencing phantom appendages, where you feel appendages, whether it be a tail or forelegs as you've described, which is a perfectly valid thing in alterhumanity. You'll also be able to find help better under these labels because we deal with this a lot.

As for how to deal with nonexistent forelegs, I personally like messing around with sticks outside to find where these forelegs begin. You could also use crutches or a cane if you have them lying around and don't already use them. Finding out where these are feeling wise will allow you to trip less and help you. Posture exercises may also help.

Also, there's no issue crawling up the stairs if you're alone either. It's a very freeing experience. In terms of tripping up stairs however, just try to remind yourself to keep upright and hope for the best. This is also a useful sentiment on hills as well. I find that some steeper inclines in general are weird for us who probably feel we have or should have forelegs.

If you're outside though and you want to mess around with some sticks and explore the feeling a bit, feel free to. It may help you find a better answer as well as being good enrichment. Hope this helps!

yep. That's a 2 inch tall creature and she's baking bread and nobody will ever know that the small arguably not a beast's new prison is a human body! Nobody knows a burrisk is serving your dinner and peering ever so menacingly at you intentionally or not. Things that bring us joy as an alterhuman system

Animal Jam Classic (Phantom and Jammerkin in-sys, plus good for expression)

Eating sweet treats (Phantomkin yet again. Some of us it brings us joy for comedic purposes such as Candy making jokes about cannibalism or Boy being stoked he can eat chocolate)

Drawing animals (good expression practice)

Curling up with some pillows (EL is pleased because of denning and Bloom has nobody to cuddle with so it's the closest we have)

Dr. Pepper (Phantomkin. Rex also just likes Dr. Pepper for some reason and considers it a rare enjoyment of human life)

Philosophical debates (Shadow loves to have long disassociation sessions that keep us from breaking down completely)

Swimming (Feels like floating, Ocean is a Skadean and feels connected to home)

Meat sticks (Stormy (coyote/jammerkin) likes to bite and tear. Candy also likes biting and tearing.)

Laying with cats (Shadow, EL, and Bloom feel closely connected with domesticated cats.)

Will Wood (Unno relates a lot to the music and Sapphire also enjoys his softer music)

So much life around us that we never notice, never see. It's weirdly beautiful that we are all hidden, yet seen.

Althuman Code - A Rework of the Dragon Code

This is meant to encompass any and all species and experiences.

To start off, identify how you percieve yourself to be alterhuman. This could be Ph for physical, Ps for psychological, S for spiritual, B for biological, or T for transspecies. There are other identities here that can be interpreted and written as needed, this is just an "Identity at a Glance" piece and is meant to give an overview, so if you don't quite understand what a symbol means you can check a bio.

Next off, what is your species or identity? After you list your perception, add the first 5 letters of your SPECIES if you can. If you have a subspecies, add the first two letters of the subspecies at the end. If you have less, just use what exists in the word. For example, I'm a vampire bat in a general sense. I would write GBatVa.

Now we have a general idea, but we don't exactly have many descriptors. Next we will place appendages. + represents arms, × represents legs, < represents wings, / meaning tails, and = meaning any other specified limbs. For the bat example, we would write GBatVa××<<. This looks much better.

What if you have another specified limb, such as a fin? You will write it after the set of =s you use. Here's what a biological sharkdog may look like.

After describing the main appearance portions, you describe colors. Up to three main colors are mentioned if needed. The same rules of species apply to color. You write the color and then where it's at first, except using five letters for both. I'm personally an albino vampire bat. My face and membranes are pink, but my fur is white. Sadly, this code is not meant to encompass fictionkin of characters unless you describe the features of the character themself. Anyone interested may coin a fictionkin code for themselves. I do apply under the label.

This is not meant to replace the Dragon Code for anyone who still uses 2.0 or still wants to upon seeing this. This is just a more encompassing system to give a glance of an alterhuman/otherkin identity while still staying relatively short and close to the original.

Hello! Being who has a lot of alterhuman identity here! Alterhumanity is basically the existence of experiencing humanity differently than most. From therians, the most common example, who are in some way shape or form a nonhuman being, to transspecies, a form of transhumanism that is infinitely cooler than the ideas the tech bros have, to even some plural people who choose to opt in to the label.

Caution on the transspecies label, Radqueers are trying to reclaim that. euck. Either way, collectively we're alterhuman in the way that we have so many nonhuman alters (It's mostly nonhumans actually). A lot of us also live with the idea that medical diagnoses are absolutely terrible for treating people whether being used to dehumanize or gatekeep experiences with a "Well that's not possible!". If someone labels themself as Pro Endo, it basically mean that they are not a fan of the gatekept labeling of conditions when it comes to systems. Not to sway favor or anything, but I've experienced this firsthand and it SUCKS. It's also why we're a system and nonhuman, the dehumanization and all. yeesh.

Anyways, if you want to read a bit more on our experiences, we try to post to this blog when we have something to say about being alterhuman in general. Hope this helps a bit!
