😭😭 its ok she isn’t really a mainstream batfam character anymore
but i recommend reading batman (2016) run bc the og timeline is gonna be along those lines (and yes that includes ric grayson bc the angst i’m cooking up with that for reader and him is too good to miss)
claire aka gotham girl and her brother hank (his superhero name is gotham—totally original 💀) made their first appearance in batman (2016) #1 when they kind of saved batman from lowkenuinely dying while he trying to stop a plane from crashing into gotham (bro was genuinely about to sacrifice himself there and then ong)
their story starts a few years back, when batman stopped hank and his parents from becoming the waynes 2.0 (basically there was a mugger about to shoot hank’s parents but batman stopped him in time) hank becomes a batman stan and vowed to repay batman for saving his parents. ig claire also becomes a fan of batman (mainly bc of her brother’s influence + the fact he saved her family)
fastforward to a few years later, hank and claire decided to participate in this experiment¿? that made them get powers and turned them into metahumans essentially. the catch is that whenever they use their powers, their lifespan decreases. but hank didn’t really care about that as he just wanted to do some good and repay batman ig.
long story short, due amanda waller’s meddling (fuck amanda waller all my homies hate her 💀💀) and her teaming up with hugo strange and psycho pirate to quote-unquote restore order in gotham (except strange double crosses her and went rogue, taking psycho pirate with him to mess with batman again), hank and claire gets their feelings manipulated by psycho pirate.
this ends up with hank being blinded by rage and kills 23 men. meanwhile claire is struck with immense fear thanks to psycho pirate’s manipulation.
hank goes on a destructive rampage and later on ends up dying by claire’s hands because batman was unable to talk hank down from stopping his rampage.
since psycho pirate was still mia, claire is still stuck in immense fear, and she lowk went a little insane, which led to batman revealing his identity to her and he offers to help her deal with her trauma (after losing her brother). which was what led to claire accepting his help and she ends up living in wayne manor.
batman finds psycho pirate a few issues later, and tgt with alfred, they force paycho pirate to restore claire’s sanity.
but what they didn’t know was that psycho pirate had actually manipulated her into secretly joining bane. (which leads to the city of bane storyline. go read it if you haven’t!)
after the whole city of bane arc and defeating flashpoint batman, batman gives claire a platinum kryptonite that he got from clark, which would restore her lifespan and basically give her kryptonian like powers instead.
she’s not really in current batfam comic runs after that, but the last i read her in was in task force z (that’s a whole other comic run i recommend reading lol)
