a starter for @rkpersephone - 2014
ājust meet persephone and be nice,ā mother said, emphasizing the latter.
doyeon had yet to figure out why people thought she wouldnāt be nice if they forgot to tell her to. maybe, just maybe, it was due her recent violent outbursts, but she was fine now. also, she wouldnāt yell at someone she barely knew just because she was stressed lately. the girl let out a loud sigh; not because she hated the idea of meeting the girl, but because she knew her mother was doing that to keep her busy so she would focus on others things that were not trainee related.
some fresh air and a new face would be good though. suddenly, the student was excited to meet the said older girl, even though she didnāt know a thing about her other than her parents were friends of hers and that they lived abroad for a long time and just returned to seoul recently. thatās more than enough to make doyeon say yes and let her mother drive her to their house. it must be weird not to know anyone her age or anything, so she was willing to help.
she waved her mom goodbye from the front door, then knocked gently on the door. smile was already plastered on her face when she heard someoneās footsteps coming towards her. politely, she bowed lightly the moment the door was answered.Ā āhello, iām song kiyangās daughter, kim doyeon. you must be persephone?ā she assumed, then wondered if the girl with porcelain skin knew their language already or not.Ā
"don't make it seem like you bite," a close mental reminder to herself before she decided to step into korean soil.
this isn't the first time she's been to her native roots but the last time she remembered anything about seoul was taking a trip for two days. nothing more, nothing less.Ā despite this being the country she was born in,Ā she had been more english in terms of traditions.
she's often misunderstood by others,Ā just hoping that it wasn't about her money that her family has.Ā getting away with a lot of "luxuries" but always overlooked by her wealth.Ā persephone's met a handful of friendsĀ via family gatherings or because of her parents' connection.Ā to blend in this country, she has to know more about the culture itself.
she's been warned that korean people are conservative,Ā while she may not be in aspects.Ā "nice to meet you, kim doyeon!" sheĀ gives a courteous bow, then proceeds to introduce herself. "i'm persephone lee, but my korean name is lee jieun."Ā the sudden switch of language reminds her that her korean is rusty, considering she only has the opportunity to speak it with her parents or others during business meetings.
