Every day we have is one day more than we deserve.” - Up Close & Personal
Robert Redford, a household name of the 60s and 70s, a staunch supporter for environmental rights and the plight of Native Americans, pioneer for the film industry mentor to the young, talented directors the likes of Tarantino and Soderbergh. A humble, quiet, down to earth man who spoke softly, pointedly and always carried the weight of the world on his regal shoulders, passed away in his sleep in the early hours of September 16th, 2025.
He was also my favorite actor of all time.
Over the next few weeks a lot will be said about this man who stood for what he believed in, spoke from his heart and never took his stature, good looks and lot in life for granted. He was the quintessential everyman, the reason to not judge a book by its cover. He often lamented being the “sex symbol,” even leaving the lights of Hollywood to find home in the mountains of Utah.
He always chose to play the slightly odd characters with a story to tell over the vapid, one dimensional heartthrobs of the day.
The loss of his silent power and grace will be felt throughout Hollywood and the world. To his family, colleagues, friends and millions of adoring fans, mourning the life of this man who captivated hearts and minds in his nearly 70 year career, raise a glass tonight to The Natural. Run Barefoot in the Park for the one and only Sundance Kid.
Here's to a life well lived.
Rest Easy, “Booey.”
We love you very much.
