Grant tried to follow along as Lauren rambled, drinking her wine in the process. She loved this guy and that’s mainly what he got out of it but the way she was talking about sex just made him cringe. She was acting like it was a chore as opposed to something you were supposed to enjoy doing and while he didn’t want to agree with this guy that she wasn’t good at it, maybe she did need to learn a few things. When she asked if he was going to teach her how to have good sex, Grant was about to open her mouth before she cut him off. He wasn’t sure if she would agree to the idea but when she blurted out that it was perfect, Grant smirked. “Wait, seriously? You’re down for it?” He asked her. Sure it was a weird request and suggestion, especially since they were friends and always had been, nothing more nothing less. But this would make things interesting and if Lauren wanted this guy back, he was going to help her so that she was happy again. 

“Alright, yeah. I’ll do it. I mean why not? Sex is great, and once I’m done with you, hopefully you’ll see it that way as well,” he said, licking his lips. “So um…when should we do this? Is it going to happen now or are you too vulnerable from the whole break up or?” He asked his friend. It was awkward to even be talking about it like this but if they were going to do this, they had to just lay everything out on the table.

Why wouldn’t she be down for it? Grant was her friend and if she wasn’t going to learn from him, then who? Seriously, it wasn’t that big of a deal to her and if he could teach her things that would get her ex boyfriend back into her life, then that would be great too. That was the endgame here, nothing more and nothing less, and as for long as she knew Grant, he got no complaints. “Fuck yeah”, she said, grabbing another glass and pouring Grant a drink out of the bottle of wine she had in her hands. “It’s so simple. You can teach me everything and I’ll just show up and win him back. I mean, it’s stupid to think that I have to actually sleep with a man to get him to notice me; but fuck it, you know? If he doesn’t, there’s always room for improvement when the next person comes along.” The way that Grant talked about what it was like having sex was a new concept to her. How in the world could that honestly manage to feel good?

“Vulnerable”, Lauren repeated out and shook her head. If anything, she was more than ready to just jump in and learn. Her tone of voice was more sarcastic than anything; but in reality, she didn’t think of it that way. Would it matter for her to just jump in bed with anyone after a break up? Probably, but this was Grant. Grant whom she’d known for so long and had worked with. This wasn’t just a stranger. It was her best friend. “If time has dictated anything is that I’m perfectly safe with you”, she started out and finished off the rest of her drink. “Let’s do this. Personally, I don’t know what the big deal is, but if you say it’s good, then I believe you.”

Grant scoffed and rolled his eyes as Lauren went on and on about her ex being a handsome almost doctor who did charity on the weekends. “Uh, yeah. I mean who cares? That’s great for him but if he’s a jerk then who cares what he does for a living, that shouldn’t matter,” he said. “What I said was that you didn’t need him, not that you deserved better. Although you do, because he’s an ass, and you can find some doctor that is actually a decent dude if you like doctors so much,” he muttered. Grant was a little nervous to hear the reason as to why Lauren got dumped but he hoped it wasn’t anything too drastic. When she grabbed the wine bottle and started storming towards the kitchen, Grant made a face before following her.

“Okay…so what’s the reason then?” He asked before leaning against the counter. What Lauren said next wasn’t what Grant was expecting at all and it made him burst out into laughter. “Bad at sex? Are you serious?” He laughed, shaking his head. “I mean…there’s definitely more to it than that so with that explanation I don’t blame…well okay, it doesn’t matter. He left you there frustrated? Maybe he’s the one bad at sex then,” he shrugged. “Okay whatever, doesn’t matter. Forget about that guy. But if you really want to spice up how you do things in the bedroom, I might know just the thing…”

“Yep”, Lauren started out and literally poured them both a glass of wine. Out of all of the excuses, this one had put her self-esteem down, way down, and hearing Grant just talk about her ex like he could be thrown away had her worked up as well. “He frustrates me to no end, but I love him”, she confessed out to her friend; but with each sip and each word that flowed through his mouth, all she could think about was the reasoning behind why she was broken up with. Sex was just sex. There was nothing adventurous about it, so she thought. It was just the same action over and over and of course there were the other positions she had heard about, but sex didn’t feel all that good and making it just work was just horrid. “He made it sound like there was so much more than what we did”, she confessed out and downed another glass of her wine before pouring another one.

Hearing Grant say something about knowing just how to get him back had Lauren’s eyebrow rise up. There was a scoff that flowed out of her mouth afterwards and she started speaking without so much thinking. “What, are you going to teach me how to have good sex?” The brunette meant to be sarcastic at first, but it was like a lightbulb went off in her mind.  That’s it. That was it. All she needed was someone to teach her how to have amazing sex and then maybe she could win back the love of her life with something. Grant was a friend and honestly, she felt he’d make sure she was safe and it was just Grant—Grant who had been there for her always and it was just perfect. Why hadn’t she think about that before?

The realization hit her and her eyes widened, hands going out to him now. “That’s perfect”, Lauren almost shouted. “Teach me to have proper sex—and then I can wow him back. Please? Pretty please?” The brunette even started batting her eyelashes, the alcohol may have gotten to her faster than she had thought to ask outright about this, but she was more than willing to be the student if Grant was going to be her teacher.

Grant was so glad to have the day off. He didn’t get many off days, being a bartender at one of the most hopping places in the city but he wouldn’t have it any other way. He loved being in control of the bar and getting to serve drinks to all the pretty ladies which also scored him big tips. It was more than enough for him to live comfortably in a decent apartment and he was loving life at the moment. 

Not wanting to do anything else besides play video games all day long, that’s exactly what Grant did. He was on the couch in the living room, playing game after game and enjoying the fact that he didn’t have to worry about anything else. Until he heard a knock on the door. He wasn’t expecting anyone and he had no idea who that could be at this time of night since it was after dinner time now. When he got up to open the door, he was surprised to see Lauren in front of him, looking like a crying mess and blabbering out that her boyfriend had broken up with her. He was never really good with this kind of thing but he knew he’d have to try right now since Lauren was one of his best friends.

As she walked right in, Grant pursed his lips and closed the door behind her, following her into the living room where she sat on the couch. “I’m sorry, Laur. I know this must be tough. The guy’s an idiot for doing it,” he said while rubbing the back of his neck. “You’re better off without him. Did he give you a reason?”

“Ha”, Lauren started out against Grant’s words. Sure she probably did but did she believe him? Not really. Her track record wasn’t all that great anyway, only having about three boyfriends in her life. She was as sheltered as anyone could be and maybe that was her problem. She wasn’t adventurous when it came to things that mattered and people always ended up bored with her and tossed her aside. “You think so, wouldn’t you”, she continued on. Her words didn’t come out harsh, but they did come out bitter to taste. “You think I deserve someone more than a devilishly handsome almost doctor who even does charity work on weekends?” Lauren didn’t come from much and always admired people who had put in hard work. That’s how she ended up becoming friends with Grant in the first place. Waitressing and bartending usually came hand in hand.

When Grant asked for a reason why her ex had broken up with her, Lauren let out another laugh. It was sarcastic this time, but she was already making moves to open the bottle of wine she had in her hand. Standing up, she went into the kitchen and looked back in order to see if Grant was following her, nodding her head. “He gave me a reason alright”, she started out, huffing as she tried to find a wine screw. What kind of bartender doesn’t have a wine screw in his own home? Finding it, she stabbed the cork in the bottle and pulled it out harshly, taking a long sip from the bottle. “He flat out said he broke up wth me because I’m bad at sex. Can you believe it? What’s there to know about sex? It’s in and out, in and out, in and out until he finishes and you’re left there frustrated.”

This was abysmal. The brunette couldn’t believe it and it happened right in front of her. She had her fair share of broken relationships and heartaches, but this took the cake. No matter what, she couldn’t keep someone in her life romantically and she couldn’t understand why. Lauren thought her last boyfriend would be the one, the person that she would spend the rest of her life with, and she loved him wholeheartedly. It was the day of their two year anniversary and she had gotten dressed to the nines, thinking that he’d end up proposing instead. Needless to say, she was blindsided when he broke up with her instead, citing that they had no chemistry. 

Which was stupid of her to say because she thought that they had amazing chemistry.

He also said that she was boring in bed--well, there really wasn’t much to do at all when it came to sex anyway.

Lauren held up everything as she went to the one person that she knew would listen to her. Knocking on Grant’s door with a finger and hearing a loud rapt, she took a step back and waited for the door to be open. Her black dress had been wrinkled and she had a bottle of wine and her shoes in each of her hands. When the click opened, she didn’t even say hello but talked right into the house and sat down on the sofa, looking down at her feet. “He broke up with me”, she started out and shook her head. “Motherfucker broke up with me. Can you believe it?” Green eyes looked into his, waterlogged and red with holding back tears. @theflashgrant

I’ve always heard that when you become a parent, your inner child comes out to play. Odd i know, but hear me out– Toy cubes have become to me what a cellphone is to a teenager. An obsession that you touch and cannot seem to be able to stop– Until your baby cries signaling you have to give them attention. Bless Grace for being the angel she is, especially when she decides to shove all the toy cubes i’ve neatly puzzled in away.

Colton could do nothing but stare the entire time Lauren was ordering for them, licking his lips with a shake of his head. Even when she said words that he heard all the time, but used her accent and the rolling of the tongue, it was the hottest thing Colton had ever seen. And damn if it didn’t get to him every single time. “Oh, nothing. Just thinking about how I want you to talk to me in Spanish a lot more often. Even if I can’t understand it,” he smirked and took another sip of the water that was left on the table. And Colton could think of many different ways that he wanted to make her speak to him in Spanish. All of which he planned on doing as soon as they were alone together one again. “Just you wait until we’re in the hotel tomorrow night,” he winked at her, the grin still on his face.

The box left his hand as Lauren grabbed it, blue eyes watching as she opened it up and saw what was inside. “Do you like it?” he asked with a laugh at her initial reaction, moving over so he could secure the necklace around her neck. Placing a kiss onto her shoulder and then her cheek before moving back into his own seat. “It’s for a lot of reasons,” Colton started out, trying to figure out just how to broach this subject. It wasn’t like they never discussed their feelings for one another, those conversations were just usually filled with flirting and teasing. But for once, Colton was going to be serious with her for a moment and he felt his heartbeat speed up, the nerves starting to take over.

“We’ve known each other for a long time, but when we first started really talking, I was in a pretty dark place,” he started out and reached for her hand, “But you brought me out of it. With patience, and understanding, and a hell of a lot of teasing.” Colton laughed with a shake of his head, thinking of their relentless flirting and teasing that built up to them getting into a relationship. “And believe it or not, we’ve been together almost two months now. I was thinking about that the other day, how time has just flown by. But then you dropped everything to come here with me just because goddaughter was running a fever,” he felt himself letting go of the nerves a little more, being replaced by emotion, “I’ve know for awhile, but I’ve been scared to say it. Every time I have before, it’s never worked out. And a lot of those times, it was my own fault. I’ve just been scared to make this step because I don’t want to lose you. You’re the happiness that I’ve always needed and wanted.”

Colton let his words hang in the air for a moment, bringing her hand up to his lips so could place a small kiss on the inside of her palm. “I love you, Lauren.”

The moment was getting a little too sappy for her liking, but that was just Lauren’s thing. She had always seemed the most adult while being her age, maybe it was because she had such a good upbringing. Maybe it was because she realized what she wanted at a young age and knew what she wanted out of life. She wanted to be educated, cultured, and though being with Colton had been somewhat light and easy, it was an eye opening experience. He taught her patience and she in turn wanted to teach him that there wasn’t just anything to life that required immaturity. In fact, she was happy that he was able to express his feelings out life this. It was like he said. When they were first getting to know each other intimately like this, he was in a dark place and she herself wasn’t ready for commitment. Now look at the both of them—together and willing to do anything for the other.

Once she realized where this was heading, the brunette moved closer to her boyfriend and got herself situated properly. She wanted to connect with him, let him know that she was going to be there and listening to everything he was trying to say. “Wow”, Lauren whispered out. Though she was taken aback by his confession, she wasn’t scared of it. If anything, she embraced it. It made her feel so powerful that she could love someone and be loved in return. “I do all of this because I want to make you happy and I wanted to make sure that you’re okay.” It was in hushed tones, wanting this to be intimate because it was an intimate conversation—one that made her smile and her heart fill with love.

“Listen to me”, she started out again and let her finger drag against his bottom lip in order to thank him for his action. “I love you too.” It was the first time that she would be willing to admit it to him, but it certainly wouldn’t be the last. Their food and drinks had arrived, but they were left unattended as green eyes looked on to blue. “I do what I do for you because I love you. That’s always going to be the answer, Colton.”

I’m done filming for my movie for the moment, and was trying to figure out just what to do with my time. Can anyone guess where that landed me? Vancouver. Time to see my boyfriend and my goddaugher, and cuddle the crap out of both of them. I’m excited to not be on a plane or filming for awhile, the idea of sleep sounds amazing. I’ve been without much of it for so long, that I might just spend at least three days of just sleeping. And continuing to blast Hamilton as loudly as possible like I’ve been doing for months.
