Spoke to HBCU students last night. I used swear words and I talked about death. Shit was real as fuck.
"Everyone in this room is going to be gone pretty quickly — and we will have either made something or not made something. The artists that inspire me are the ones that I look at and go, ‘Oh my god — you didn’t have to go there. It would’v been safer not to — but, for whatever reason, you did.’ And every time death happens, I’m reminded that it’s stupid to be safe… Usually, whatever that is — wherever you don’t want to go, whatever that risk is, wherever the unsafe place is — that really is the gift that you have to give.” Amanda Palmer https://www.brainpickings.org/tag/amanda-palmer/?mc_cid=dbad5e9399&mc_eid=1b85c2e452
It's nice to get awards for doing what you care about but when the people you love are still being taken by the insanity produced by poverty and socially depressed conditions it's just meaningless PR and a smile to cover the pain so that you can stand a chance when you go out there to battle for resources for people who need it so desperately. The fire in my belly to deliver the promise of a better tomorrow surrounds a pit so dark and full of pain that it cannot be imagined. We will and we must change this world.
MiniMe made me dress up for #halloween with her... She was #thetardis and I was #doctorwho. What do you think?

That moment when you realize you went to the wrong building and now you're 20 minutes late for your meeting. Maybe this is the matrix?

Chatted up this remarkable man @myrddinstarhawk at #gmicsv about everything from VR, AR, future tech to politics. Then our conversation took an unexpected turn. He's big into steam punk culture and shared that his mad hatter hat and costume makes him more approachable because for some reason many people feel uncomfortable with people in wheel chairs and so they are always moving out your way, or won't come close or avert their eye which has the affect of making a person in a wheelchair INVISIBLE. We talked briefly about the stigma associated with disabled people and the correctness of the word disabled itself. I told him that he was one of the most capable people I'd met at the conference so far. Hopefully one day soon people can be identified for their capabilities rather than their inabilities or their difference in abilities. Hopefully we can be more supportive of others difference in abilities without identifying them solely for that or ignoring them for those differences. Action Step: Talk to someone different from you today, you never know how it will change you.
