Introduction To This BlogÂ
At the urging of some of my friends, I have decided to share the screentime data I have been collecting since season 1 of Roswell, New Mexico. This project was started as a fun FYI for my own personal enjoyment. Please take this with the spirit in which it is done: for fun.Â
MethodologyÂ
I start the tracking for each character from the moment the scene starts (if they are in the scene at it’s start) or when the character either audibly or visually enters the scene, and then end it when either the scene ends or the character definitely exits. Also for ease of tracking, any flashbacks where a younger actor plays a character counts towards that character’s total screentime and possessed characters are counted as screentime for the possessed character and not the character doing the possessing (e.g. Noah!Isobel counts towards Isobel’s screentime, not Noah’s). Finally, if a character does a voiceover, it counts toward their total screentime.
ETA: Actors playing different characters will be tracked by character (e.g. Max and Jones are tracked separately.)
As a reminder, this is a project I’ve been doing for my own enjoyment (I’ve been doing this for all my television fandoms since 2015). This information can’t and shouldn’t serve as an indicator of narrative focus, quality of story, or character worth.
