Ro & Dean || A restless dawn.
It started with a distant scream, which didn’t fit the scenery — it was sunny, the streets were warm to the eye by colorful clothed civilians. Their expressions were quick to fall upon finding the source; a woman, mid twenties, fighting off another woman who appeared going at her neck. It was hard to tell from the distance that Rona was at what exactly was happening… in fact, it looked as though someone was filming a cheap vampire movie. It wasn’t fully alerting until the woman being attacked plummeted to the ground, as if she’d preferred to take the chance of the fall rather than deal with her attacker. Ro might have been at a safe distance, but she was close enough to remember the sound of the victim hitting the concrete below. A cackling noise, equipped with the memory of watching her impact upon the ground… now that was something that would haunt her forever. The girl let her foot hit the ground to balance herself on her bike as she watched the horror unfold; but in the blink of an eye she caught with her peripheral vision something lunging at her, before she could even let out a scream—
Rona jolted up from the safety of her bed, wide eyed, panting. Not only was mankind plagued with an apocalyptic disaster, but her mind was taunted by it nightly, it seemed. It took her a few minutes to regain herself. “It was just a dream,” the brunette whispered in a barely audible tone. She knew it wasn’t just a dream, well, most of it at least. Of course her mind had altered the situation a lot from when it had actually happened, see… in her dream, there was nothing around but the apartment, a few people, in the beginning they probably appeared to be a lot happier than they were when the event actually occurred. And maybe that said something, for instance… how easy everyone had it before the virus broke loose, but their joyful expressions faded after that particular incident. She couldn’t help but think about those precise details, how she connected herself to a fading smile.
It took a lot of will to finally slink out of bed. The sun hadn’t even awoken yet, but there would be no getting back to sleep for Ro. Wearily she made her way from the messy covers to the small dresser on the other side of her room. There wasn’t an awful lot for her to choose from when it came to clothing — but it didn’t matter much, not to her. As long as she was comfortable, that’s what always counted. Even before the breakout. A pair of yoga pants were her choice, and lazily she slid them on to a near perfect fit before adjusting the elastic around her waist. It had to have been at least ten… maybe fifteen minutes since she’d woken up from her nightmare, and she could still hear her heart beating at an above average pace. There had to be something someone could give her to ease her mind before she slept, to prevent an awful nights sleep like this from happening again.
Sure, she looked a mess in this particular moment, but the odds of anyone being out and about at this time was slim, and the girl was edging near desperate for some fresh air to cleanse her lungs after what could easily be described as a mini panic attack. Rona tugged at her shirt idly as she made her way to her door, unlocking it took a good minute considering she'd been working on rigging it to wear Alec wouldn't be able to get in for shits and giggles... As soon as she got into the hall she wandered down the eerily silent passage way to the stairs, and treading down them she sighed quietly -- though in her atmosphere it sounded much louder than initially intended. Upon nearing the exit, though, she furrowed her brows after catching the sight of someone in the corner of her eye down the dark hall of the first floor that branched off from the lobby. "Uh.. hello?" Ro's body tilted to the side as she peered into the darkness, she was curious more than paranoid.
