It gets frightfully easy to forget such things, doesn’t it? Living in domestic bliss the way we do.
[There’s a bit of sadness in his eyes, when he says that; but he doesn’t seem hung up on it. Not outwardly, at least. He may agonize over their circumstances, but he couldn’t be happier with how things turned out for them.]
[He pecks another kiss to his knuckles, though.]
I would never. At most, I may have to wipe your mouth before kissing you… froth certainly doesn’t dissuade my need to pamper you, love.
[He boops out the sadness in Jonathan’s eyes by pressing his finger against his nose. Soundlessly reminding him that in this universe, there are things that are not supposed to be understood, and its better for everyone involved if that’s the case. And that’s okay.]
You’d still care for me, even as a rabid dog...?
[He breathes a sigh of relief, flexing his muscles and asserting himself.]
Such loyalty, Jojo. I could not ask for anything else from you.
And loyalty like that cannot go unchecked by I, DIO. And for such feats of courage, I swear on my life that I will follow you into the abyss...
[Such cryptic poetry.... His voice hushes, almost to a whisper.]
And I’ll make sure to cook you plenty of lasagna too. 💕

“I did visit Father once, it wasn’t long before he passed. It was about two or three years after I became a vampire. I actually spent the majority of that time in a coma because I refused to take blood. Looking back I honestly don’t know how I survived.”
“After Father died, I went back to the manor to confront him, my Dio. He was the one that used the mask on me, although at the time we both simply thought it was some sort of primitive yet oddly specific execution device.”
“The fate of the manor was the same, burnt to the ground. And that night, he died. Perhaps not directly by my hand, but directly enough.”
“I suppose that would have been the end of it, were it not for the intervention of another one of you.”
A fascinating story if any...
[The way Dio looks; listens to Jonathan’s story could remind someone of the facial expression someone pulls when reading a book they enjoy. Multiple expressions peel across his face at one time - ranging from enjoyment to a divine sense of curiosity.]
[Especially with how his tongue drawls at the word ‘fascinating.’]
Such admirable strength... And you’re correct! This universe is a frivolous, ungraspable thing... Laden with surprises that not even I, DIO can wholesomely comprehend.
And truthfully, I don’t think you’ve seen the worst of it. But I’m glad you’ve retained your personality, even in this vampiric state...

[With his hands rubbing along his back like that, he manages to calm down fairly gradually. Letting out a soft sigh, he pulls his face out of his shoulder, his eyes tender as Dio’s hand strokes along his cheek. Lifting one of his own hands up, he closes it around Dio’s, leaning in to brush an answering kiss against his lips.]
You’re already dead, dear. But the same goes for you, you realize? You’ll spoil me completely rotten one of these days.
[Squeezing his hand, he presses a kiss against Dio’s knuckles, a playful glint in his eye.]
I simply cannot help being sweet to you, in any case.
Ah yes. I forgot. How both of us are practically undead, living in an endless purgatory surrounded by beasts we cannot grasp with our loathsome peripheral vision... It must have slipped my mind. How troublesome.
[He speaks with no emotion or bitterness to his words. If anything, it’s a cruel acknowledgement of their fate. Not that it matters to him, he’s happy regardless.]
[Noticing Jonathan’s playful behavior, he raises a forked eyebrow and quirks a all too knowing grin.]
Don’t ever stop being sweet to me, even if I begin to froth at the mouth.
[Ah yes, the art of seduction.]

[He blinks, hand still in Dio’s hair as he gets up so abruptly. He’s about to apologize for implying such a thing–he hadn’t been thinking, really, when he said it–but…]
[The heart he’s making with his hands and the overall sweetness of this moment? That little pout on Dio’s face?]
D-Dio… goodness, no, I didn’t… please pardon me, I…
[He’s so overcome with emotion, he removes his hand from his head–only to wrap his arms around Dio, burying his face into the crook of his neck. He’s not crying, but by god he feels like it!]
You’re too sweet for words, beloved.
[Something about the pet-name ‘beloved’ makes his heart swell with pride. He puffs his chest in response to the influx of positive emotion. Wrapping his arms around Jonathan’s sides, he rubs circles into Jonathan’s back as he begins to calm his ‘Pea’ down.]
There there... There’s no need for tears, Jojo. Especially not now.
[”Don’t cry on your lasagna, Jojo. You’ll ruin it!” -- Ah yes. Those were the days, t’was the night was still young. It amazes him how much Jonathan has stayed true to his character these past years with them living together. And truthfully, Dio would want no different.]
[Running his hand lovingly up Jojo’s face, he pries him from the crook of his own neck and impresses him with a delighted kiss as his hand cups the flesh of his cheek.]
You’re too sweet in general... To be honest, one of these days I feel as if I’m going to drop dead due to the calorie intake!

He’s not unsociable at least. Granted he wouldn’t be unless he was outright attacked first but sometimes with all things considered it’s hard to tell.
“Well, my story as I’ve come to understand it is a little different than most. Although I’m not one at the moment, I was a vampire until recently, in fact I had been one since I was about 15 or so. I think people that keep track of that kind of thing told me it was a divergence point?”
“A vampire... Hmmn.”
[His interest is piqued...]
“Maybe it could have resulted from something similar to what they call the ‘butterfly effect’ .... either that or some timelines are naturally fated to be different to the more ‘popular’ ones.”
[For a moment or two, he loses himself to his own thoughts. Before he reels himself back in, that is.]
“So what did father think of this? Was he surprised?”
[Someone surely is digging deep today.]

[He smiles, kneading his fingers through his scalp fondly. If he was sitting down, he might have urged him into his lap for further pets–ah, but the poor thing just woke up, he doesn’t want to lull him back to sleep.]
It is. But at least we are still together, yes? I don’t think I would have been able to survive this long without you at my side.
I simply hope my company is still suitable for you.
[Aroused from his calmed state, he gets up with a jerk strong enough to pull the bones out of a body of a lesser man. He faces his beloved with a taste of disgust and surprise on his face! How dare he recommend such a thing?]
-- Are you implying that I’d ever get bored of you, Jojo?
[He huffs and pouts, sticking out a furrowed lip (that is in dire need to be painted his signature lime-green shade) to prove a point.]
By the heavens I would never! I may feel like I’ve slept for a year or two and there may be gaps in my memory because of that - but I’d never get over you of all people!
[He makes a heart shape with his hands and calms himself. Again, this is done to prove a point.]
We’re too peas in a pod, Jojo! I love you so much and I wouldn’t trade you for the world and it’s expansions!

Which Dio is this? He’s not sure. Not quite naked enough at the moment to think it’s the god one? He’s certainly been wrong before.
“Good evening Dio.”
[He stares down at the Jonathan in front of him. For a moment, there’s a puzzled look on his face as he scrapes his hand against his chin in an attempt to rouse the thought. By the lord himself, Dio tries to put the pieces together and force himself to remember who this particular Jonathan is. But no thought is clawed from him. He does not remember this duplicate.]
Ah....
I’m a bit behind on the times, are you one of those fancy duplicates? Please, sit down for a while and tell me your story. I’m incredibly interested in what you have to say.

It’s starting to get a bit warmer out, too… I’ll have to move the winter clothes back into storage rather soon.

[Feeling generous, he rolls his neck backward to meet with Jonathan’s hands with a great, amused grin on his face. Humming low in his throat, his posture appears to be almost cat-like as his shoulders fall in a great swoop.]
Everything is happening so fast, isn’t it Jonathan? It’s almost as if time is slipping through my fingertips...
[But that would be implying that there is a concept of time in this Purgatory, DIO.]

It all keeps going back to “pillow house,” but that is fairly similar to a pillow fort, is it not? Hm… we could spread them out on the floor and lay on them?

[And there he goes, arranging the pillows to form a rectangle at a note-worthy speed.]

[He looks down at himself. And the pillows he’s burrowed himself under.]

Well… they’ve only started happening recently. I’m not sure exactly when, but…
[He’s so accustomed to that tone by now, it barely registers. Though, it does take the edge off his nervousness–he squeezes his hand just a bit, sighing softly as he leans against him.]
I can’t quite remember them, but… he seems familiar to me, somehow. As if I’ve seen him before, but I can’t recall his face. All I can remember clearly is just… him. Watching me.
[The thought makes him shiver, leaning back against him a bit more.]
I want to believe that it’s just a coincidence, but it’s as you said–anything that can happen either has happened, or most likely will happen. I still can’t help but be hopeful that it’s nothing to worry about…
[At his insistence that he’ll be protected, a soft smile tugs at his lips. Looking up towards him, he rests his head against his shoulder and tries to ease the tension that had been building in his muscles.]
I’m so very blessed to have you, in that case… I feel very safe with you.

I’m really glad you think that, Jojo. It’s almost as if you’re the only one who doesn’t view me as some sort of grizzly bear.
[To make a point, he presses his palm flat against Jonathan’s fuzzy chest. Looks like somebody has been neglecting themselves as of late, but thankfully not to DIO’s disapproval. He enjoys seeing how soft-around-the edges Jonathan has become and how malleable this human body actually is. To think that a hundred years ago, this man made of soft putty would have been a real threat to his vampiric health.]
[Scooting himself closer, he wraps his arms around him and kisses both cheek for good measure. The hot against the cold soothes DIO right down to his capillaries and he lets out a pleasured non-sexual mew.]
Every day, I find you more more endearing than I thought yo was the night before. Love is strange.
Dreams of a…
[His skin prickles just a tad at that. He can’t rightly lie to him about this, especially not when he hits the nail right on the head like that. He’d hoped that he would’ve been able to keep it under wraps, but… he was having dreams like this, too?]
I have, actually. For some time. I didn’t want to worry you, but if you’ve had them, too…
Do you think it’s… something for us to be concerned about?
Well that depends.
[Despite the awry nature of the situation, like usual, his voice and tone is a controlled broth of smugness and charisma that leaves the closest mortals in his proximity breathless and anticipating for more.]
Are these dreams occur often? Are they threatening in context? Has this being touched you and made you feel unsafe as a corporal life form?
[Rolling his tongue across his upper mouth, he clicks.]
We’re in crazy town, Jojo. We need to be prepared for anything that could happen because anything-that-could happen has already happened. Hell, there’s even a mirror image of myself that has the lower body of a boa constrictor and according to everyone here that’s nothing but a daily disturbance.
There’s no rules, no large sign that says ‘STOP’ in alarming letters, no boundaries. Nothing. There’s nothing out here other than the thrumming existential crisis that you’re simply a tack in a river of needles that sends chills down one spine.
But alas, there is no worry. For I, DIO will protect you from any duplicate that rears their ugly head. Even if that head is of mine, or yours, or some other close relative that I’ve forgotten of. If that duplicate shows aggression towards you either verbally or physically, I will act swiftly and utterly one-sidedly.
[Another click.]
